Wow. That doc is a bit of a dick. That isn't really the focus at the moment, his well being and getting healthy are. My doc (family friend) was always like that too with me racing Motocross. Everytime I got hurt. I said to him once "I know you guys are all about keeping people healthy and safe, but at what point does life just become self-preservation and boredom in your eyes with those views?" He didn't have an answer for me and just advised I be careful.

That turned out awesome! Very good choice.

You're asking us to commit to a purchase that has no value. Oh sure, i'll take one! When it turns out to be 3 grand, might be over-budget for some. Get an idea of cost and then post back.

That turned out even better than I thought it was going to look. Good job, fits like it was meant to be there.

My sarcasm detector could be broken but I think he meant the cougar of the Mercury variety.

Show your wife this post from me: Tell her she is F'D! She has HUGE trust issues and in marriage that is unreasonable and ridiculous. I've been with some basketcase girls in the past, but in marriage I can't believe someone would fabricate such an unreasonable and ludicrous scenario. It sounds to me like she's trying to pull something or finding a reason. I wouldn't be a wuss about it and buy into her pity party. If you love her and there's something there, get counselling or figure out how to make it work. If not, end it. There is no reason you should have to justify yourself to her on a daily basis. You're not her prisonner and shouldn't have to beg for her trust. Sorry i'm just callin' this one as I see it, it's total B.S.

I suppose I should post some pics of my Old Man's black 370Z... Been meaning to do so, just haven't yet lol. For anyone who gets the chance to drive one of these, do it! They're more performance than you'd expect.

My Little CAD Project
LowCarbZ replied to Kirby260's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Wow. Some really amazing drawings in here, talented bunch of guys. I'm still working on my CAD skills, I do mostly architectural/structural 2D stuff for work so not so much on the shapes and such. I should really sit down and learn some of this. -
I'm a Jeep guy and even I think it's the lamest saying in the world (The "It's a Jeep thing..." b.s.)

We've got several in the shop and I also have one in the Datsun. Something about having carbs over the header made me think it'd be a good idea in case they decided to go up.

You are aware "compact discs" were available in 1997 right? http://www.amazon.com/Overcast-Atmosphere/dp/B00009OLTJ Just get the CD and copy it over onto a blank cassette via your "ghetto blasta" and away you go. Just like you used to make sweet mix tapes for all the girls you dated in High School.

I had the same issue. All the rear mounting hardware for the suspension was worn or seized (or close to it) and was failing to allow the suspension to travel. Combine that with some tired rear shocks and it'll chew through tires fairly quickly. Some new shocks, bushing and hardware througout the rear end components and it's been much, much better the last couple thousand miles.

My old man thought I was a little crazy to get into such an old car and put all the time, energy and money into it. But he trusted me in my judgement and it was actually the first car I bought that he didn't have any involvment in (inspecting it beforehand). The car was an hour and a half away and he trusted my abilities but still sort of doubted the purchase of a 30+ year old car overall. I put a ton of time and money into it. And in my 24 years my dad has NEVER owned a car (always a Truck/SUV/Jeep). Prior to that he actually owned a Datsun 240Z back in the 70's and Ausin Healey 3000's/Sprites in his younger years and even raced MG's. Anyway, the Z was a great purchase overall. He's almost 60 now and anytime i'm out at their place working on the Z he'll usually find his way into the shop and spending a few hours working on it with me. I've always wrenched on Jeeps my whole life, but I think he got a bit of a bug from the Z. One day last fall I tossed him the keys and told him and mom to go have a fun day with it. They drove a couple hundred kilometers and I could tell he'd enjoyed himself. After that point he hunted around all winter for a newer 350Z and then I finally convinced him to check out the new 370Z. Long story short after several months he finally got his hands on a brand new black 370Z and he's happier than a pig in ♥♥♥♥. I'm glad the car sparked that in him.

You guys sayin the mosquitos aren't bad are too far south. Come up to Central Ontario the bastards will eat you alive!

I'm in the same boat, i've been driving the Z because my daily driver is down. Canada Day holiday (July 1st) falling in the middle of the week and shutting everything down didn't help that situation any. And there is my Z in the work parking lot, gettin' pissed on.

Yeah I can't keep up with cutting mine, stupid rain! The only evenings when it ISN'T raining I have to cut the lawn. The weekends have been crap up here too. It'll be nice the odd day throughout the week and rain on the weekend. Hasn't been much of a "summer" so far. Hell, late April was nicer when we had two weeks straight of warm temps and sun.

The performance is adequate for me at the moment. I enjoy everything about the car. The lumpy sound of the cam at idle, the sound and response of the carbs. I've driven the car in the "snow-free" months quite a bit and it starts and runs great even in the cold. The car has a 5spd ZX transmission and R200 rear diff with 4.10 gears. So for a comparisson I can't say it'd be the same as yours. The car's a little underpowered and lacking torque to pin your shoulders out of the hole, but once it's wound out in 2nd gear into 3rd it really flies and holds its own for a 35 year old car. The "go fast feel" has a lot of variables in the equation, moreso than just fuel delivery. So unless it's got a V8 or it's boosted (to me) the Z doesn't feel fast out of the hole. It just lacks the torque to get moving. I've had it doing some pretty impressive speeds and it makes for a great road car setup. The power is always there in 3rd gear to make a pass or hit up some bends. But if you're like me it's never quite enough. I enjoy the car I have now but i'm looking for another to do a Turbo setup on.

I've got a set of Weber 40 DCOE's on my 260Z with a cam, header, and 2.5" exhaust. Works great and idles/runs perfectly.
-
Holy that's a MESS! So judging by you saying it has a holley on it i'm assuming this is a blow through setup? Cool story regardless.
-
Stunning. I love how it isn't gaudy or busy on the outside of the car. Just classy and basically perfect. Very, very well done. Looking forward to video!

Regardless of who did the TIG, your MIG skills on the initial setup are very impressive. Very clean work and well thought out. Something to be proud of for sure.

vacation problem-my ole ladies timeshares are boring
LowCarbZ replied to randy 77zt's topic in Non Tech Board
The only place I can think of that meets that criteria on a regular basis would be any Florida beach during spring break. -
do you think this 240z is worth 2k?
LowCarbZ replied to LeX's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Well eventhough I already have my Z if that one came up in the local classifieds i'd probably bite at it. Just judging by the list of parts and such i'd say it's a good price. -
I'm taking a guess at saying he's looking for the "buckets" that are under the lights. Not covers. I'm unsure as on my G-nose it was a one piece front end that was fiberglassed onto the car.

Uh yeah, I think that's fair personally. I'd inspect it rather closely for rust. But even if you bought it and it ended up being too rusty for your tastes you could make more than your money back parting it out.
