Looks great all. Thanks for all the great replies so far. I am still undecided and love to see that we all have such different taste. Keep the ideas coming though!!! Those last ones are a bit pricey though aye?

Hi. I am just wondering what mirrors everyone is using on there Z's? Stock, aftermarket, custom, etc. Pics please of what you think are cool ones. I really want a passenger mirror since mine didn't come with one and thought I would find out what everyone has done and what looks good. I have seen some aftermarket ones like in MSA but don't know what they look like on the car. Thanks all, Kyle

another 300Z tail light treatment on a first gen
innerware replied to Tim240z's topic in Body Kits & Paint
it just looks sooo unresolved with the liscence plate hanging there. Yuck!! -
I agree mostly. However that car is so damn cool I forgive the rims. Can't wait to see the interior and all the other goodies. Thanks for the quick preview!!!!!!!!!! How does that thing turn. I went back and looked, and if it were to brake hard or hit a bump and turn you'd think it would rub somewhere. Anyway thanks again.

I am sure this has been covered but I couldn't find it. Why are the Z's aerodynamics so bad as to let in exhaust when a seal is bad? What can be done to change the air flow around the car to stop this? Do any of the aero packages from MSA change the air flow enough? Any spoilers or such? I think that I have all my rubber replaced at the rear of the car but I still get the fumes. It seems to be coming in from the windows (when open) I still have a lot to look at though but I thought I would ask. Thanks in advance, Kyle

I'd forgive you. That is awesome. Nice work. Did you do it yourself?

You will most definately have to sell your soul for a few years and like bayareaZ said aprentice. Basically how it works is that you will have to dedicate a few years after school to a company doing grunt work. You can get lucky and get something more. Be prepared to do alot of cad work. And don't be discurraged if you don't actually design anything for quite some time. You might get lucky and find a job ata small company that gives you more responsibility. Depends on what kind of architecture you are wanting to do, IE retail, commecial, residential, landscape, interior, hospital. Do the kind of desing that speaks to you and just be prepared to be a grunt. Drawing skills are definately a must. Maybe you won't use them at first depending on what you are doing but you have to be able to communicate visually and fast. Beautifully rendered perspectives can be done by others but that skill can get you jobs too. But having rapid vis skills is a must in brainstorming meetings within the company or with the client. Definately take drawing classes. I build architectural models daily and have for years. I also have worked as a cad drafter and am in grad school for industrial design. So I say this having dealt daily with architects from all types of companies. Just figure this, the better you are at a lot of things the better you can sell yourself to a future employer. The more skills and the better you are at them the more desirable you will be. No Masters is required but the extra eduction is always good. Good luck,

Post pics. Always post pics. Especially something that cool.

Black cartridge sits on the passenger side of the car up near the front. That is the charcoal cannister. I think that you need the canister if you are having to pass smog. Regardless of how your fuel is stored. Tank or cell. Hopefully someone you who has switched theirs to a fuel cell will answer. But from what I have read I think that you need to keep it.

If you post some pics I can probably give you some advice. Bondo might not be the way to go. Maybe some glass fibers and resin. Need to see though.

I've used them and love em. They spray better than the old school bottom feed guns and less strain on the arm. That is just my experience. I am sure others with more experience will chime in.

Loose wire, positive or ground. Could be the motor went bad. Pull the motor and check that. Also check the wires going to the motor to see if you are getting power. Probably something loose since it went intermitent first. Good luck

Contact the Z barn their number is 1800-247-2793. They have used ones that they test and can be had for like 30 bucks or around there. Got mine from them and it works well.

I have been having the same problem too. Mine happened after I put in a different radiator than stock into my 78 stock z. I too was thinking about small fans in the vent locations in the hood. I wonder though if that would help at all. Would we be covering up a problem instead of fixing it? I will probably just put a small electric fan infront of the radiator and put a thermostat on it so it can run for 5 minutes or so after shutdown. All my sensors are within 3 years old and all the wiring is the same age too. Wierd though how it happened after the new radiator install. The radiator works great though when I am driving or in traffic. Let me know if anyone finds a fix. Thanks

I'd contact them. It fit perfect on my 78.

My favorite is by far: The MP checkpoint is not an Imperial Stormtrooper roadblock, so I should not tell them "You don't need to see my identification, these are not the droids you are looking for."

banning guns would do nothing. Last I checked cocain and herione were illegal and there are plenty of people getting there hands on that stuff. I was raised in a house with guns and I haven't commited any crimes. I have had my connecticut handgun permit since I was 18 and have been nothing but an outstanding citizen. It is all the idiots with guns that cause the violence and the idiots that have them around children and give them access and don't talk to them about them. It is also the punishments aren;t high enough. If all those dumb ass gang members were to be locked up for a minimum 25 years for commiting a crime with a gun there would be less crimes commited with guns. The dood is too revolving. Any way nice website. Rant rant rant...

Check Out This Old Skool versus New School Video!
innerware replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
that was fun. Just wait till the new 350 has twin turbos though. -
I dont have the deminsions that you need but an idea for you to draw the z. If you can get a hold of any drawing s of the car and I know that they are out there. You could scan them into autocad and rescale them according to demensions you can get off of your car. Once you have the orthographic drawings (front top side and back) scanned and rescaled to the proper size you can save as a dfx in autocad and import it into solidworks. I believe this could work. I don't know solidworks well yet but I know autocad pretty well. Anyway, if you end up doing anything in solidworks I'd love a copy. What version are you running? Good luck

I think I read something about then new Suburu steering racks fitting. I believe it was a few months ago someone mentioned it.

Well the shop did it. They said it fired right up and it was cold that day. Since then I have had no problems at all. It just fires right up and I can rev it good and strong. Hopefully this means that your problem is fixed. Good luck let me know if it is good to go.
-
Actually got the problem fixed. Hopefully it can help others. Kinda embarrassing though. Since I caused the problem a while back. After replacing my thermotime switch and temp sender and wires that attach to them about a year or so ago I plugged them into the wire harness backwards. So the engine was sending all kinds of wierd signals to the computer. I had the Z doctors find the problem. They say it is fairly common to see especially after an engine swap or head replacement. Didn't take them more than an hour to find. And can I say wow what a difference. It starts right up, everytime. I hope this helps a little. The sender and switch might be bad but are cheap and easy to replace if your wires aren't switched. Good luck, Kyle

Silver or Gun,metal, which do you prefer?

the first one, Silver -
search for the ford taurus fan. You will come up with good info.

FIXED!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!! Though all should know that I had my thermotime switch and water temp sender wires crossed and that was causing bad readings to the computer. All is fixed now and it starts up in the cold.
