to replace the magnetic setup... I had to do this to fire the Haltech unit on mine.
I actually am getting ready to do this. I've been eyeballing some H4 replacement housings on ebay, trying to narrow it down. Hopefully I don't end up with crap.
What part is so time consuming on the SHO? V6 version or V8??
I did the water pump, crank sensor, and timing belt a while back on it, (OK the timing belt cover has waaaaaay too many screws), but besides that what is so bad?
Looks good... similar to what I did... 'cept no turbo
I just noticed what you did for your throttle linkage.. I made a bracket, (which needs to be redone) but yours looks like it would work better.
BTW, when is the show?
That sucks...
Mine started to catch fire years ago. Somehow one of the hot wires in the main harness in the engine compartment got grounded.. I got it put out and had a ton of soldering to do when I did finally fix it.
I hydrolocked a 396 in a '68 Camaro a few years ago,. The hood was cut for the two Holleys and the high rise intake to clear, but I didn't have a scoop yet...........It took only 1 thunderstorm.
I think you would only make that mistake once in a lifetime. You learn the hard way.
After 5 years waiting patiently... my baby is running again..
I finally got a starter that would start the car effortlessly, and got the Haltech up and running...
albeit, running a bit rough I should say.... but its running nonetheless..
Anyway... is anyone running a N/A setup with the Haltech...?? Wondering if anyone had a ignition and fuel map I can base mine off of...
I could probably use a map from a turbo car..... I would just have to do some tweaking...
When I originally built the car... I made the mistake of using Bosch platinum plugs in it..... they lasted a grand total of about 10 minutes.....
Tried a set of Bosch Supers after that.... they lasted long enough to drive from the muffler shop and not quite back to the house before starting to foul out...
I ran a set of NGK R BR6ES-11 plugs for over a year in that setup and they ran great...
I'll startout with .042 or so and see what happens...
Thanks guys...
Ok guys...
Trying to get the car going... got the gear reduction starter in... finally..
The compression has been increased to 10.25 from 7.8... or whatever the stock 2.8 L6 was in the 280Z.... Running a Haltech EFI setup. The coil has been replaced with a MSD blaster 2 (no I don't really like it)...
Now... My question is, should I decrease the spark plug gap a bit since it will have a more dense charge than originally??
I ordered one from Competition Cams... locally here at Doug Herberts shop... (amazed that he carried a part for an import)
Not sure what the grind was exactly... I have the grind card around here somewhere.... It worked very good on my N/A setup..
Well well..
Seems that the 280's and ZX's had a gear reduction starter that came on them...
Question is, did they all have it?? all of the ones I have owned always had the direct drive version.
Ok guys... need a little help
I need to find a gear reduction starter for the L6
I got the Haltech all set to go, but when I try to start it, there is so much load on the starter that it takes power away from the computer.... thus, not feeding it fuel or enough spark to start it...
Any leads?
