  1. anything can fit, its only money lol. Another odd option to think about is the VH45DE nissan v8, light very powerful and slap on a turbo or 2 and you have a reliable beast, the only thing is that you need to put on the W158 Supra trans to make it manual.
  2. Modern, instead of taking a supremest approach to this, how about you say welcome to the forum, we have quite a few different sections you should check out before you post, but since you took your time posting I'll take my time answering. 1.) You can reach 400hp with a lot of combinations, if LS1 is what you had in mind, go LS1's direction. It'll be costly ,but worth it. There is also 2jz and 1jz, and a very overlooked KA24DET which is very light and when turbo'd very powerful. Also, L28ET is the greatest option maybe... 2.) You can hook up the LS1 Air con and the Z has a stock heating system so don't worry about that stuff. 3.) You really don't need power steering its a light little car and the engine swap doesn't change weight usually enough to make it a PITA to drive, but if thats what your heart is set on, go with the subaru forester rack conversion which you can find in the chassis and steering sub forum stickies. If you need help finding anything on the sub forums you haven't already searched for you can PM me or something, but if you spend some time searching you'll find anything on this forum, its a cavern of knowledge, mostly Tony D lol. Thanks, Sean.
  3. lol when the zx turbo made its way to my house to be plucked apart
  4. I'm not sure ,but that seat is gorgeous. O.o
  5. Thats great news, I was thinking that was the only possible reason. I have a 1mm Nismo HG ready to go onto it when I put the motor into my S30. Between that and a hefty intercooler it should be safe in the >15psi range, it'll be on a megasquirt ECU so I can play with settings a little. Thanks.
  6. I just spent the last hour looking at a 280zx turbo for sale by my house, the odd thing I ran into was this, its an L28ET ( I Peeked in and it does have dished pistons to complete the block ) but it has an N42 Head, is this an advantage to raising up the the compression? or is there something I'm missing? The battery was dead, but I had driven the car before and it has some serious snap, more than the some other L28et's I've driven on the same PSI and set up. Any info on why this is set up as so would be very great, the owner bought it as is and doesn't know why its this way, he just did a fine job maintaining it. Thanks, Sean.
  7. This is really a dead thread, but I guess I can ask, about how long does it take to change the rear diff seal? I'm fairly certain it's not my upper vent plug on my R200, but I have been driving extra spirited lately :/
  8. haha, I opened the door to yell "Tokyo" we weren't really trying to film the drifting we just set up the cam, that edit was done in less than 24hours, so expect alot more driving footage and in-car shots when someone else is available to film. The lighting was purposely darkened in color correction, but I can take it up a little. thanks for the feedback, I'll do a finished edit for next week, this was just a 1day slap together peice.
  9. Hey Hybridz, I've been making films for a while and decided to make a semi-proper video of my Z. So here it is, the first episode of many to come. The next one will have alot more footage and in-car and out of car shots of other people filming while I drive, I was the only one filming this. Filmed yesterday, Edited this morning. Subscribe, watch, give lots of feedback, and enjoy "happy times!"
  10. It would be wise of those who read to listen to 99% of TonyD's advice. With that out of the way, I have a single 16" 2000cfm fan with a semi-shroud on it and it works fine on my semi built p79 L28. It has seen gridlock Seattle weather at 100 degrees and it never exceeded 185degree engine temperatures. (yes that is a wee bit high, but no where close to the proclaimed danger zone). Toodles, Sean.
  11. never mind, mission accomplished thanks to mat.
  12. Hey Hybridz people, so I removed my heater, I'm in the process of removing everything to do with heating behind the dash, and I was wondering what I could, and could not remove from the engine bay that is attached to the heater. I know I can remove the vacuum canister, but what about the other circled item that all the heater vacuum lines went to?
  13. Well, I understand this is totally out of your pricerange, but my 2008 Toyota Tundra Crewmax 5.7L (soon to be supercharged) v8 is more than enough to tow my car, plus another car over the burly passes here in MT. It tows my 4 car horse trailer full of horses just fine as well. Here: and the old dog in the bed was included I think Im going to sell my Tundra so I can go to film school and buy one of these to tow: and yes I plan to lower it.
  14. "I have to agree with Tony D. Just shoot them and toss the bodies in the ditch." and here we have a prime example of American ignorance at its finest, in a time where we would rather shoot drunk drivers and throw them in a ditch then spend that time looking for rapists, murderers and thieves. That mentality displayed ever so softly is exactly what landed us to war blindly after 9/11. Not to mention 3,000 innocent people aren't dying at once from drunk drivers, its a prolonged suffering. Drunk driving laws are absurd, they are very hit and miss, as with many other laws. One thing you have to consider are the family of the drunk drivers, what they lose. I understand many familys shrug it off and still sit by their irresponsible overgrown childs behavoir like its perfectly fine. My father, he has had a few DUI's. The first one, he lost all his jobs, that was to be expected and deserved. The second one, he went to jail for over a year and lost all his family in the process. The third one, he spent another year in jail. Ten years later, he drinks responsibly and pays the government for jail time. In all three cases the only reason the cop pulled him over is because they knew him, he blew a .08 all three times, passed all of his field sobriety tests and wasn't pulled over for suspicious driving behavoirs, now to me that seems flawed. Give the student his test, watch him pass and succeed. Then promptly rip it up and tell him he was supposed to use pen. The majority of drivers pulled over, are putting others in danger, the people that are putting others in danger are those who naturally fail at driving sober, I say we raise the driving test recquirements, would that not weed out the terrible drivers first? And to the comment about truck drivers having a .04 or lower, I believe that should be .00 afterall, most of the time that truck is their job, and I for one know that if I showed up at my work with a hint of alcohol on my breath I would be fired. As for the .08, that law is ludacris. It isn't followed, as I've seen in many cases, I know many ex-police officers who admit they would bust someone under that limit for their behavior. The system is flawed. Call me liberal, but I don't think shooting people and throwing them in the ditch will solve any problems. If that is truely how you feel, that scares me, and it tells me that we really do have a couple generations of anger above us that feed the machine. I understand your point of view, but I rudely decline it.
  15. The insurance myth is certainly overplayed, my mother started the largest office in our state and has moved on to manage all of them in the state, my current year cost for full coverage on my CBR600 (I just got as a winter project over 3 months ago) is only $965 (keep in mind I'm 17 with no tickets and also full coverage on my 280z and 2008 Tundra Crewmax, payed for by me.) I've been building DownHill Mountain Bikes since I first was a shop slave at a local bike shop, which also carried Harley's/Ducati's. Downhill bikes and Motorcycles have a lot in common they taught me, check the frame, check the fork seals, check for wear marks, most of the marks should be on the lower half of the fork travel, if not it has been ridden fairly hard or has a blown shock. Check for solidity in the brakes, after all, you dont wanna have to try and go down a hill with no brakes on a crotch rocket, check for a tick in the motor, its most likely just valve timing but when your dealing with the low amount of cylinders it can create much more havoc than it could on 6 cylinders. As Hoov said, check for aftermarket parts, it can tell you alot about the P.O. For example: If it has been replaced with aftermarket parts, was it replaced with high performance parts? if so, what quality was used? That single thought process can tell you alot about that ex-rider. Two words, GUT FEELING. Most people have a natural gut feeling for how the bike is, so go with it and just because its a good price, doesn't mean you have to go for it, no ones forcing you to sign or to pay for the repair costs the month or two later. Thats just a fraction of what I could rant, I absolutely love anything with two wheels, especially motorcycles. Overall, have fun with it! Thanks, Sean.
  16. they are 15x7 0 offset Enkei 92's. The tires are 205/60/R15 and the slicks I run sometimes are 225/50/R15's and it makes it almost too low. But the hoosiers give great grip so its worth it. and will do
  17. here is a little update on my 280z, my enkei 92's are all shined up (the explorer in the background has a custom paintjob but matches my z, odd I think ) the front will be brought down a tad when new coilovers come, thanks! thought I'd try and revive the wheel thread
  18. I had been driving my new Tundra too much last week, I just got back from a work trip and decided Im going to spend that extra $250 that a shop would've charged to go get a straight through exhaust built and I just got a call back from my ex boss (who is a mechanic for a paving company who raced open wheel cars in europe for 6 years) and has owned many Z cars and Saabs and said that he could help me do it and it should only take about 4hours or I can drop my car off, pay him $20 an hour and bring him parts and he will do it on his own. Can't beat that cost, but I think I'll go help and not have to pay at all. P.S. These are the original bearings and have some steady play in the rear end and like to shake quite a bit to the point that the car has trouble redlining it seems like, its a work in progress. Afterall if it wasn't, it wouldn't be a Datsun. Thanks for all the info, Hybrid never fails to bring logic to the table.
  19. The symptoms are clear, shaking above 45. the little bit of wiggle in the rear wheels, the noise in the morning. It was bound to happen. Now unfortunately, I moved and my tools are in storage. Anyone have any estimates on how long it would take a shop to do these? I hate asking shops to do things that I could, but my tools are a ways a way. thanks, Sean
  20. good eye rturbo. your correct. the green one looks familiar to, like rb25 familiar?
