  1. I'm using the AEM s2 on my rb26 and have good results with it. Pretty easy to use but does require knowledge of tuning like any other ECU
  2. If I do it, the initial motor will be a rebuild (bearings, HG, block decked 550 invested). but I will have 1 maybe 2 150 spare longblocks sitting just in case ;>
  3. It is an awesome motor... Just not sure I can justify the cost to rebuild when a stock NA 2J longblock can make more then my motor. Especially when I can go to the pick and pull and get a motor for 150 bucks. Its gonna be a hard decision. Rebuilding a 2j cost just as much as an rb but I'm not talking about rebuilding.
  4. Here is my buddies Mk3. he used a turbo head in this install but was using a stock junkyard NA shortblock. thing lasted years before it let go with the help of a 300 shot on top of 45 PSI from a 88 mm turbo.
  5. A buddy does a mod to install the cam sensor and deletes the distributor. Don't get me wrong i'm a die hard RB guy just cant afford it anymore.
  6. Yes turbo NA. Head flows better then turbo head. They are a dime a dozen in junk yards. When you say parts aren't cheaper id agree until you consider i can get a NA longblock at any pick and pull for 150 bux. Basically i"m talking a NA 2j longblock with good stuff bolted up to support 800 whp. if it blows...( i have a buddy that ran a junkyard block all the way to 1200whp before it bent a rod) break it down go get another long block and be back up and running. No rb26s in junkyards around here ;>
  7. SO the day has come.... Do i stick with the rb that costs 2500 to rebuild or do i go with a 2j? Pros of 2j. 1. Can support what i"m doing now on a bone stock long block....Yes it can i have seen it done. 2. If for some reason i blow it up i can go to just about any of the local pick and pulls and get another long block cheap. 3. lots of local support. 4. Stock rear sump oiling system can support 1000hp drag application without mods. Cons of 2j 1. Initial expense if swap. Other then that cant think of anything else pros of RB 1. Cool as ****!!!! 2. Can make good horsepower 3. Brand matches car (Nissan, NOT THAT I CARE) 4. Can be sold to fund the entire 2J swap Cons of rb 1. Huge lack in support in US 2. Major mods needed for rear sump applications for Hi HP drag applications. What am i missing? I'm currently gathering parts to rebuild the RB then I'm leaning towards selling the setup turnkey including AEM with current tune (750RWHP) once rebuilt it will have a new crank, rods and thinnest HG possible to increase CR. This will help with power down low to spool turbo and hit Stall on the converter. Thoughts?

  11. Got any pics of the new hard line? I'm thinking about modding my steel pan to hold 3-4 more Qts and external pickup.
  12. My guess is the pan and pickup. its just a stock rb20 300z oil pan with a modified rb25 oil pickup. On launch all the oil is sloshing back and for 2 seconds it picks up air. Will be working on a better pan/pickup. and adding a accusump.

  14. Oil pressure took out #5 and started on 2. Thrust bearing wasn't looking to healthy either.

  17. Mine runs 100+ on cold start up and 80 hot on full song. around 30psi at hot idle. And for 2 seconds during the launch drops to 20 psi ;< watch far right gage at the 1:08 mark. Also the reason i will be tearing her down over the winter to evaluate damage.

  22. I obviously don't have a 2J BUT if this harness is made anything like the one Yuri and the guys made me for my custom RB26 install its well worth the money. Highly recommend!!!
  23. Thanks, I think it has a little more in it. we will find out in about 2 weeks at the last night of the season. Made some rear suspension adjustments that should keep the front down, because even though it looked cool IT WAS NOT ;>
