  1. It has been some what altered. (sorry Pete, I had to)
  2. At your command. . . http://www.amsoil.com/products/sdf.html This testing was done within the last to years???
  3. I`d settle for one of those for a daily driver. Parents do wonderful things for their kids, god bless um!!!
  4. I`d like to go with a nice EFI setup, but I`m old and just love my triple Webers. They are kinda like a "high maintenance woman", but once you understand them there not as much of a mystery (although they can still be a pain in the a$$). And did I mention the Sweet Sweet sound they make sucking in all that air.
  5. I have 3 L28 cranks and they are all stamped with different #`s. They are in the attic so I can`t at this time tell what #`s are on them, but I had been thinking this ? myself of late. I`m starting to get things together so I can put my 40 over bore, flat top, F54 block back in the car.
  6. Not sure about the back spacing of these wheels. I will be doing the same as far as the 5 lug swap and don`t have coil overs either. I have a set of the for mentioned wheels avalible to me, just need to finish the swap and ck things out.
  7. The reason I want to know the interior diameter of the rails is . . . I have good solid rails under my car. Instead of cutting them out, I was thinking . . . Cut out only the interior floor over the rails (leaving the stock rails intact) and laying in some extensions to the back. I do not need to take good frame rails out, I`m just thinking of an option to add extensions back to the rear to get some added chassis support. I will be doing some "stitch "welding to add some stength up frt (frame rails / tc box area) and may add some extra metal for added stength. Hope this makes sence without pics.
  8. No. If you did not block the chain when the head came off. Yes. To get the crank pulley off.
  9. Does anyone have a stock type replacement frame rail not yet installed that could measure the inside diameter of the rail for me?
  10. Cly head new measures 4.25" (top to bottom). Since you have the frt cover off measure the frt of the head. If it`s been cut and the block has also been surfaced, you may need to shim the cam towers to pull some slack out of the chain. I think the cam tower shims come either 10 or 20 thousands thick (one of the other).
  11. Yes, please share your drawings and any other tech info as you go thru your rework. Great job!
  12. Mike how many miles after filling with Redline did the seals start to leak? If anyone has an interest in Amsoil products, contact Mike or my self (off line please) for answers. Also, there`s some info and links on my web.
  13. DAMN ! I think that might do it. Thanks for everyone’s help. I will have to be very selective on what I actually show him. And the junkyard suggestion will work also.
  14. Folks I ask for your help. I need to round up some VERY graphic images / video clips of car crashes and related. The images need to show “people in a bad state†as well as vehicles with lots of damage. I have been tasked with teaching my oldest nephew how to drive. (I know a track event would be the best, but it`s not an option at this time) I will have him out there in about 6 months to a year. He is being a butt head to his mother and now I`m going “real world†on his a$$. No I do not have a thing for this kinda stuff, but those of us old enough to remember and have gone through an “actual†drivers education program may get where I`m going with this. All kids these days (in VA) have to do, is log so many hours driving varied conditions and then a parent signs them off. This takes place from 15 years 8 months to 16 years of age. HOW SCARY IS THAT! * EDIT * There is a written test required. To make matter worse, he thinks he is going to be cruising around with his little sweetie (who is actually a little hottie) with his cell phone stuck to his head. I personally would like to see laws passed that kids could drive with a parent from age 16 to 18, but not get a drivers lience untill 18! I do not want stuff being sent to me via e-mail due to all the virus laden e-mails with attachments I already get now. If you know of links, websites, etc. please post them. Please try to use a "link to", instead of posting pics here.
  15. Well Mike took me thru one of his "street courses" he has mapped out around were he lives for a little spirited ride in his corrvette. My background is 20+ years working on and owning imports. I`ve owned two V-8 vehicles, one being a 79 350 series Ford P/U and a 89 Dodge B-250 Van. (not much for a performance comparison) I was quite impressed with the Corvettes performance. The car is fast and will "put you back in the seat". I was waiting for Mike to put the $100. 00 bill on the dash and say, if you can grab it it`s yours. I have built some fast Z cars (turbos and normally aspirated), but the "tourque factor" is another thing all together. My hats off to you folks putting such engines in a Z, I now have some idea how quick / fast your cars will be. BUT, as another member here sig reads; Yea, still a inliner! And Mike, good for you on the bike decision. I’m sure you made some of the people around you breathe a little easier. For those of you that haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Mike, a brief easy description of him might be . . . Pretty Damn Extreme!
  16. Jared, If your looking to be able to drive the car on track and not compete in a formal race, try doing track events. You would not get caught up in rules or regulations and mods to the car could be what ever you want. Only "rule" for a convertible would be a roll bar and of course (all cars) need to be in top mechanical condition. It might even be a good place to start before you jump in to a formal racing group. Just some thoughts . . .
  17. Marcus, That is the nicest looking hood mod I`ve seen! Next time Mikelly has an event, bring that car up here so we can see it in person. Mike, whens the next get together?
  18. Found this page, looks like good info. You Weber folks alt to bookmark this page. http://www.teglerizer.com/dcoe/rasorcom.htm
  19. That Is Correct If you havent yet, lots of info in the archives. Try the search feature. You will / can spend hours answering some of your ?`s.
  20. I went and looked at http://www.baddogparts.com and was looking at the replacement frame rails. Can someone who has purchased rails elsewhere tell me if these look to be any beefier than others? There is a pretty good pic on the main page under the g-nose hinges.
  21. Nice! Can more digits be programed in for stronger security?
  22. Sounds like work place harrasement with varied over tones. Be careful! People’s tolerance levels are low these days.
  23. This could be symptoms of a leaking booster. Pull a vacuum on the booster only and see if it holds. Is this booster from the same year model car? (sorry if I missed it from earlyer posts) As far as the pedal being low, You can also adjust the brake pedal engagement height from inside the car at the rod attached to the brake pedal arm. Have you done a complete brake ck at all 4`s? Brake system flush including master cly + all 4 wheels. Does this car still have rear drums? If so, pull the drums and take a look. Look at shoes and closely at the rear wheel cly for leakage.
