Well they DID get the bob kane reference correct. I'd assume they used the name batman because he's the only popular HUMAN that ever flew in comics. And batman was quite popular back in the day. I don't understand the "flying with planes" reference, but I've seen some crazy stuff in the dark days of all comic series. Overall, this guy gets the adrenaline junky thumbs up. Way way up.

The texture on the top of the train would almost lead me to believe it was CG. I'm glad you left it in there. I consider myself well educated when it comes to catching flaws with 3D work, and being able to see the lines between real and CG. So fooling me is no easy feat. I'll keep this short but I thought I'd throw in why I thought it was CG at first glance. 1)The red is quite vibrant and screams fake lighting to me. 2)Overall the texture of the top looks milky as though it's gone through render filtering. 3) The way the bricks at the tunnel entrance cast a shadow on it struck me as odd. Don't know why. Superb work in my eyes. If that WAS CG it would be top notch, and to capture something by accident seems amazing to me.

Yea, people here are generally nice about making fun of you when it happens. ...like when I didn't know what my L28's oil pump looked like... woops as long as it's in good spirit it can be ok, but there's a line you shouldn't cross for sure.

I agree this could push the rules of HZ, but honestly I think this is something that shouldn't be ignored. If the mods don't agree with that sentiment, then I'll gladly stand behind them. This is their site and they're God here simple as that. But I know many people trying to do good things down south in areas that are still far from repaired. The stories are heart breaking, and it seems that good people just don't see the need so they don't give what they have. I won't state what I think the problem is, because I don't want to turn this post into anything threatening to anyone. But I'll say this: What happens when the good people in the world stand by and do nothing? I'm not saying nothing is being done, but I know that more can always be done. We live it one of the world's wealthiest nations, and I'll leave it at that.

Yes, I understand that. They're very different motors from the ground up, well not completely different, but different enough. I wrote the post for the sake of theory to someone that might not have understood. The explained very little of why the said what the said and I was just clearing up one avenue. Though as stated in this particular case the VH and VK are different series for a reason. I doubt much is even compatible between the two.

You know, for some unknown reason (unknown to me at least) I stopped checking up on this thread past page 2... For the love of God why? I just caught up and MAN I'm loving it. Keep up the awesome project chelle. Car looks great and sounds amazing for how fast it's going through plugs... Top notch work, which on this site says a lot imo.

The post worries me because I don't know if you're questioning based on the fact that there's a displacement difference, or if you actually know about the motors in question and didn't mention WHY you thought the 4.1 should be lighter. But IF you thought automatically that a smaller displacement motor should be lighter then let me shed a little bit of light on that arena (if i'm mistaken then just stop reading) A honda B16A (DOHC 1.6 w/ Vtec) is heavier than a B18C (DOHC 1.8 w/ Vtec). The main difference is material making up of the cylinder wall. The 1.8 is the same exact block but with a larger bore and a longer stroke. The crank adds less weight than the material of the cylinder wall removed. So the 1.8 is inherently lighter. Same goes with the 2 liter vtec B series (i'm comparing vtec models beucase pre-vtec has a different head so the weight isn't comparable in that realm), Make any sense? So in theory if you bore any given motor you're making it lighter. Toyota's 1UZ, 2UZ, and 3UZ are fairly interchangeable motors (minus the main bearings). The 1uz is a 4 liter. The 2uz is a 4.7 liter, and the 3uz is a 4.3 liter. The only reason the 2uz is any heavier than the other two is becuase it has an iron block. If you took the 2uz crank and bored out a 3uz you could end up with a nearly 5.0 liter 3uz that would be much much lighter than other two motors. Hope I shed some light on the subject if there was any confusion.

I'm sure it could be done by one person in their garage. The question is what kinda special person would it take to A) Have the engineering experience The time to learn about everything C) The time to do it all D) The money to complete said project E) The insanity to do so. Did I get it all? Obviously it can be done. Done by a hobbyist? No. Done by a dedicated hobbyist? Maybe. Done RIGHT by a dedicated hobbyist? Pretty much out of the question. But I won't say it can't be done. Maybe that nut job is out there somewhere.

Well I don't want to ruin this thread, so I'll just say this and we can leave the rest of the discussion for once I get a thread posted for it. The vehicle was a early 90's jeep charokee that made it about 800 feet up the street. The 5 kids that were in the vehicle ran off. My brother didn't follow them because he wasn't about to follow a bunch of kids by himself (anyone remember that vid of kids in oakland?...). No news from the PD yet.

Well I got a Wii back in november, and I'm fortunate enough to have just that considering the fact that my parents had to pay for my sister's wedding on the 23rd of dec. Christmas night I had to deal with this: The camry was stopped (no driver - parked) and was pushed 20+ feet before hitting that parked truck, which was pushed 10+feet. Soon to come: A video from the night of, narrated by yours truly.

The second video is at least 3 years old or so. So don't get your hopes up for the movie. Sorry to say that it is what it is.

I've had many experiences with black bears that all went just fine. Black bears are very unaggressive and are very easy to scare. ...but then again I never took pictures with one of their cubs... Bad move man.

well poo on you guys Just wait and see. Pretty soon imagination will be all that's left because even as we type the gaming community is starting to see the magic in a fun game versus a beautiful game (something that hasn't happen in the last 5+years)

Isn't EFI kinda as a whole one big fat crutch (in a sense, i'm just kinda throwing this out for thought). I mean really... if you just wanted consistent performance in ONE environment then you'd just run carbs. Bit wait, humidity just changed, well I guess I need a crutch that can sense the air density. I'm not saying he's wrong, and I KNOW he knows a heck of a lot more about EFI than me. I'd just like to point out that the whole philosophy behind EFI in racing is that it can make up for changes on the fly via sensors. To me a well programmed knock sensor is just another tool for EFI to tell if your octane rating is off. Because if you're racing your tune probably IS that extreme.

Just wait until we're well into the DX10 era. We should start seeing games that really push the limits on what we thought was possible. 40 man raids should become child's play for all games on the market. As long as net standards keep up we should start seeing FPS games that can handle 200+ people on a map (VDSL, are you out there listening?). If anyone here thinks there PC, Xbox 360, or PS3 look good just wait. We're about to enter into a game utopian era in wich imagination is the real limit.

I think I've seen that one for sale before. And if it's the same one then that guy is having a hard time getting his price. Doesn't surprise me considering... The freaking EFI hardness is cut! What kinda idiot pulls a 10+k motor/tranny and just cuts wires? That's insanity. Take your time and do the job right. Who ever buys it and wants to use the stock ECU is either going to have a huge headache doing their own wiring, spending some decent money for someone else to deal with the headache, or going to spend possibly more money getting replacement wiring from lambo...

Ok, so it's a sohc on steriods. So how long until you turbo a B18C and put it in there?
-
Whoa, a SOHC CRX. Of all the unholy things in the world.... Put a good motor in that thing man! Unless maybe you're just trying to get 50mpg out of it. Yea, if I was making enough money I'd have several storage units filled with Z crap. I'm going good enough with absolutely zero income it seems. 3rd 280ZX in 2 1/2 years. (turbo donor car) I'm worried what will happen once I get into the S30 cars. I'm sure I'm gonna end up with like 5+ of them.

NZR: Porsche 944 still idles at 2400rpms!!! help!
Gollum replied to OlderThanMe's topic in Non Tech Board
A honda B16 I was working on a year ago would idle at 3-4k... Now THAT's a high idle. It was almost like having a stall... That engine's probly ended up being a combination of a vacuum leak in the TB and a screwed up ECU. -
Wow, how long have I been here and I can't recall ever seeing your car mikelly. Looks awesome though. Keep pictures coming.

No offence to jimi, but I love how SRV plays hendrix better than he did himself. It's uncanny. If I ever own a strat it will be for one reason, jimi covers. And SRV is one of the few that make me want to do jimi covers. Awesome. I was at this show (guitar hero 06). Up in front wearing a hat, in line with the huhges and kettner amp. And the guy who won: (if you don't like jazz, just keep watching still, trust me)

Well at any rate, you're a wizard of style. And I use the term wizard because I'm refering to a state beyond comprehension that's now reached out into alchemy. I want to post a question, but I'll just pm you instead of dragging this off topic.

I like it... ALOT. I like how the side skirt actually almost seems like it's barely if any lower than the origonal, more of just "out" to match the flaring. I like the rear of the side skirt too. I also like how the rear wide body transition doesn't look too porsche-ish. Nice and smooth with an even as possible transition. Just watch out my friend, people are gonna start asking for mockups of other stuff. You're a photo wizard. I bow my head low.

I think it would look fine if the gas tank just wasn't so exposed, but at the same time I wouldn't want to raise the tank thus raising a decent source of weight over the rear. That would make a noticeable impact on skidpad figures for the rear. And about the side kit. Well call me picky, but I really like for wheel well edged to stay consistent and stick as close to the tire as they should for their given height. Example: Notice in the front highlighted area the front kit makes a funky jut out to the front of the car then the chin spoiler tries to bring it back. Then on the front wheel side of the side skirt (wich I like the design of motorhead427) it tucks in nice but at the back it's symmetrical to the rear side of the tire, with the way it curves out. I think it needs to look more the like the front of the kit. This is of course personal preference and I think the round type shape has a more "classic" shape to it, wich I'm not against (though I think consistency is the key factor here) but I feel the S30 has an ability to morph into many different looks, and I just like the more modern look better I guess. Oh yea, and the progress looks great zr8ed

I like this one because it looks similar to a character mock up that you'd see in the real time interactive simulation biz. I'd say do at least one good sketch like this that has a model in multiple positions trying to get a sense of perspective. Personally I'd try to keep it clean, classic, and well done. I'm not an artist in the drawing arena, but the music arena. I know personally I'd much rather showcase a simple pieces that's extremely well written and well done, than a complicated piece that was a bit over my head to pull off perfectly (lucky me in music if you're writing origonal material nobody hears mistakes unless they're decently serious).
