  1. I gained too with close to the same set up. Very cool car by the way!
  2. WOW! Now that is a one classy Z. I love how that car has the intercooler BEHIND the rad/frame core support.
  3. I say go for it Dave! There will always be those who will try shoot you down when they see someone chasing , The American Dream. What kind of car do you want to build? oh how about a mid eng LS series. Count me in for one!
  4. I like the idea too. Not sure about how the spring seat would be properly incorporated into that design though..... FWIW johnc biscut camber plates would better accomplish the same overall task, and with no mods.
  5. Hello all, Ok in good faith I searched for an hour or so but didnt find exactly what I needed. Will try short to make this short and to the point. (yea right lol) Updating a new DS for the Z to delete the old small oem Z u-joint (scary it lasted this long!) Have a few (a thousand) questions. Did some measuring, See pics. 1. What is the proper u-joint spec/sizes I need? The front output shaft shown mates to the T-56. Not sure the year of the trans or output shaft type so this is why I ask. With the numbers shown, can someone give me a part number or size so I can begin to source a true quality high performance u-joint? This joint does have c-clips on the inside. The rear is the JTR part DAT-110. After viewing the JTR website it list as follows. "The V8 flange uses a Dana 1310 u-joint. This is used on most 1974 and older Nova, Vega, and Camaro driveshafts. The 1310 u-joints use c-clips on the outside of the u-joint." OK that sounds simple enough to source. 2. Is it safe to have an Aluminum DS made instead of Steel? If ok to have one fabricated in alum, what would be an appropriate tube diameter for this application? If fabricated in steel, again what would be an appropriate tube diameter for this application? (street reality, no drag racing, high speed freeway, minor autocross etc.) How much weight reduction is possible in alum? This current complete assembled steel unit is 11 pounds, 2.5 tube diameter and only 20 inches long between joint centers. What are the pro and cons between materials/performance and $$$cost? What would be the best solution here? Thanks everyone! Much respect to you all. Brian
  6. Heck ya! It looks really good! Under $400 too, Very nice.
  7. Is that a crack free dash??! If so.. to some zcar people it's worth about twice the money you will pay of the car. Something to think about....
  8. I'd say more like 40k for "full race suspension?" that includes a few learning mistakes along the way. I've got 19k into mine and as we speak its on jack stands again. Reality bites.
  9. A large one in the garage. And of course a small one in the car..
  10. I had both the exact same issues. Clean the headlight switch contacts. The 71 does have self cancel turn signals. You may have pins missing in the rotating collum if the sterring wheel/adpater is not oem. Remove the sterring wheel and check the canceling mechanism.
  11. Not sure what you mean but the lowering springs have reduced free length to lower the car. I don't know about moving the oem spring seat to obtain more backspace, maybe someone else can chime in on that issue.
  12. Giver! ...Sounds sweet! Major congrats dude!
  13. Like a running test fixture??? Donor car + torch/plasma cutter = a out-of-car frame stand.
  14. God damm that is really nice!
  15. "Music will even soothe the most savage of beasts."
  16. Nice work Phil! I like how the lower part of the cooler fits into the spoiler.
  17. Hot chicks! (typical euro lame music)
  18. $50 to get rid of the car. I know... but I just wanted it gone quick with no hastle. Shop around for the best deal. Yes, they dragged it up that way onto the flatbed with no wheels logs and all.
  19. .... She is gone... Off to the car crusher in st.paul. Sad yes but don't worry, there was not much left of her. I learned alot from this car and this killer site. Donated many free parts to those in need. Brian
  20. More parts sent.... cooperrose- hood spring/hinges, seatbelts, hatch hinges. ziggy408- upper/lower fan shrouds.
