Guys, This is to let those of you know who are seeking advice on paint & body that when you PM (private message) one or two experts in the field, you'll get different answers on how to accomplish the same task. There are at least two "correct" procedures for any given paint and body task. The level of information needed to re-explain oneself becomes greater and greater for the expert when his advice is not heeded initially and then compared to someone else's. If you are going to ask more than one person, please don't go back and ask the same expert yet again to compare what "so and so" said. It's not fair and it taakes up even more of THEIR time. So, please DON'T DO THIS. I always expect you to do adequate research before attempting paint and body, but please keep in mind what I said in the aforementioned paragraphs and be courteous. 'Nuff said. Davy

We'll see if the stuff lasts with the heat. It does look great IMO. Different brand have different textures. I suppose one can send for a sample of each and they'll accomodate with a swatch. I think it'll last. Davy

Need some high res images trying to decide on paint color..
DavyZ replied to a topic in Body Kits & Paint
Man, almost everything was silver. These were the closest I could find to a gunmetal color. HTH Davy -
Many thanks. A PM has been sent. I'll see what I can do about hosting them here in a larger format. Davy

How to Safely PRY HEADS From Block (350 SBC) ???
DavyZ replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Will that actually work? I have never tried anything like that, but in theory it should work. Of course a flux capacitor should too... Davy -
Time for slicks! Still, on street tires that's not too bad. Loved your car walking the pickup Where is the track in San Antonio??? Davy

Anarchy99, What site or page did you pull the Chevy pics from? I'm wondering since they come across as being very small (to us), not full size. I want to get bigger pics, so could you provide a link by chance? Thanks. Davy

Shoot, I hope Larry does buy the dang thing. It looks like a "deal" if the parts are what he says they are. Man, I wish I had some throw around money. Since Larry quit smoking, he deserves this thing. His habit per year is worth at least that, no? Davy

You know, the butterscotch interior is in such good shape that I hope you keep it. The interior WILL match the blue and the red you spoke of IMO, but you can always put a color chip next to the interior to get a feel for it. I think you'll be fine though. Painting the car the original color is usually the wisest thing to do because you can leave all the jams and interior alone, but that is your choice. I love the supercharger idea with the magnetic clutch---that's just wild. I hope you can get that to work out in the car! You might get magazine coverage for that. Take a lot of notes and high quality pictures. As many of our painting experts have said: prep is key to a good paint job. Use their advice and it'll go a long way to helping you be successful in this undertaking. Davy

Jeff, you coud be really unique and do the dash in Carbon Kevlar, which is sort of a yellow & black material from what I have seen. A full CF job may be too much, so perhaps accents in CF and suede back for the dash? Just some thoughts. Davy

No. There were weights that were dealer installed on the rear diff of the early 240Zs to reduce vibrations, but they had it figured out that by moving/repositioning the differential, the half shaft angles would be correct and this would eliminate the vibrations. The later 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z cars never had such an issue. Please post a picture of what you are talking about. Davy

Anybody use the Felpro one piece pan gasket?
DavyZ replied to jt1's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Yes, they are reusable. I bought one for the next time I have to drop the pan--the new gasket may as well be reusable one. I never did think about the size of the thickness of the front seal though. Hmmm. Davy -
Whoa, wait. Which part of your body is this on?!? Oooh, nevermind. I figured it out---> it's on your forearm! Silly me... Seriously, it looks pretty darn good. I like the colors too. Davy

You bet! We've had some great response on this year's fund drive, but we still need some more members to kick in. Thanks for the donation to HybridZ! Of the 5000 members, less than 100 keep the site going IME. I may be wrong, but I don't think so. Just food for thought. Davy

Thanks, Scott. I had to read your post above again and it became more clear the second time around. This is an elegant solution that will really work. I'm positive this is the way to go. Thanks for posting that information because I can easily picture this working very well. I'll have to look at the armrest again to see how this works. I just need the parts there to 'see' it come together. That is self explanatory and I can see this being a necessity. I'm sure it wasn't such a big deal and it should work great too. Thanks again for the info, Scott. Davy

Pics: New CrMo-rollcage for my 240z
DavyZ replied to mull's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Mull, I'm not a chassis engineer, so I'll just say "Boy, does that look good!" I'm trying to figure out all the triangulation and how it works in your chassis and it seems to look alright from my novice standpoint. I wish I has half the cage in my Z as you do in yours; I'd be happy Davy -
I have heard that it is the ultimate rush. I suppose it is, but I have no desire to do it actually. I find that fighting is a great adrenalin rush too, but it doesn't hold a candle to actual mortal combat like Miyamoto Musashi describes in Book of Five Rings. Glad you enjoyed it and hope you get to do it again. You could just join the military and become a paratrooper. I think that might be the ultimate rush because not only are you jumping, you have the possibility of being shot at as well. Fun stuff! Davy

You could take up smoking, but like COZY Z COLE says, it's a __tch to stop. Davy

I'll take the machine gun, although the anti-tank gun looks like it's even more fun. Nice shooting! Davy

Stony, there's not much left of the original car is there? lol The work being done looks great, though, and I'm sure that this year or next will be The One. Davy

I didn't think the door panels would swap over, but what do I know? I've been so wrong on a number of things I'm beginning to doubt what I think I know. So, let us know if they swap over. I believe they do not. Davy

Man, I never have been addicted to cigarettes, but those cinnamon flavored toothpicks come pretty close Being somewhat of a compulsive (obsessive/compulsive?) person, I made working out with weights my thing. It's paid off too. Stepfather died of lung cancer, so I do not have an urge to smoke anything except the occasional tire. Larry, keep at kicking the habit---there's more to like than cancer sticks! We're pulling for you, man! If you get cranky (more cranky?) on the forum, we'll know what's up Davy

Yep, I sent a bit of cash too--I can't be hypocrite!!! Thanks to you guys that have donated so far!!!! If the numbers on the 'donate' button don't work for you since you'd like to send $$$$, get Dan's Paypal account number and use it to send more or a different amount if you'd like. Even though I have some money tied up in a lot of concrete we just poured, the site is like a mental vacation for me, so I MUST give something, even though it's not as big as I'd like. Guys, just like Pete said, every little bit helps!! Please step up to the plate! Davy

Thanks Big-Phil! You are a man of many talents: a guitar playing fury, Z modifier, family raiser, and cold beer afficionado! Davy
