  1. Easy, we have more than a few members that are police officers. Davy
  2. Yep, V4 and FWD. Engine made by Ford. My dad took me for a drive in one when the Sonnet III was being offered for sale in the 1970's. I loved the car and pleaded with my dad to buy it, but we ended up with a SAAB 99 instead for practicality reasons. Davy
  3. As was just noted above, the JTR manual will give you blueprints/diagrams for the setback plates, spacers, and tranny mount. They also give some other good information in there too. Reading and doing searches in the forum will also yield some great info. Davy
  4. And... the Back! Use "img" instead of "url" to show pics... Davy
  5. They look great fogged in flat black, baby! I think that's the right color for the vents, maybe the bumpers too if you want paint that is. Good work. Davy
  6. If you want to do a side stripe like that, you might want to angle it like a BRE stripe and go with lines of equal thickness. It's not that I don't like your idea, but I'd modify it a bit. Good thing you are thinking about it and planning in advance--at least you can do photoshop (I can't). Davy
  7. The guys have been dreaming about anything over $1000. If this is not for the insurance company, your car is maybe worth $500. Yes, I said $500. You have a bent frame, frontal damage that will require extensive bodywork, etc. Most insurance companies will write it off completely. If you part out the car, you'll get more. I have been keeping track of the price of ZXs on Craigslist for the past three months, so I can tell you that out here in Kali it's $500. Remember, the one thing guys are keeping out of the estimate of value is the opportunity cost involved with buying your car, getting it fixed, and hoping for the best vs the next best alternative, which is a similar car in decent condition. Around here, ZXs are not going for very much $1500 to $3000 MAX and that's for a running car with no real damage. Davy

    510 tranny

The input and output shafts should not make a difference (they should work on the Z with no problems). The 510 never came with a 5 speed. If it is a standard shift pattern, it is most likely a Z transmission. If it has a 'dogleg' 1st gear, then it is from a 200SX (L20B motor) and will still work in the Z. Take the tranny from him. Davy
  9. Absolutely fantastic. I had never seen what happens to a drag slick when the car launches, so it was a first for me. I found this quite interesting. Thanks for posting that. Davy
  10. Lucky day! Hope is a realist and not some ignorant fool. I see stupid crazy ads on Craigslist now that have too many zeros after the first number! People have no clue that their stock 280Zs are NOT WORTH more than $4000, but hey, I'm just a critic... Nice that these are 240Zs and I hope they're not rusted hulks. Davy
  11. Ah, so it was you that purchased them. They went a bit too high for my taste/budget, but that's the price you pay for exclusivity. If I had the money at the time, I would have bought them. I think you did alright and they'll look great on your car. Nice. EDIT: I thought they went for higher than what I confirmed: you did VERY well on this IMO. Davy
  12. What I28et says is true. Most of the S30s are in need of help and the full on dash cover is a good idea for relatively low cost. I installed one on my 260Z according to the instructions and it worked out great. I really don't have any complaints about them. The full cover is very difficult to detect from a new dash--they nearly look the same. Davy
  13. I figure if anyone can break parts, it's probably you guys. I'd think that a Z which can pull the front wheels off the ground repeatedly time after time would just about find every weakness in the drivetrian and chassis. Let us know what happens! BTW, I bet they don't break... Davy
  14. Bryan, Congrats on a "once in a lifetime" find Stick to a good plan! BTW, the JTR setup may give you some more needed room for that TT. Take some measurements and figure everything out that way, then make a final decision. Just my $.02 Davy
  15. They still have a Saleen S7 and the McLaren F1 in the rear showroom. The Saleen looks as big as my Suburban and the McLaren is so mild looking it is nearly unimpressive. I think I've gotten too jaded over the years that very few cars impress me visually. Like I said before, the Lotus Exige is the coolest car they have there. Davy
  16. Not quite true--you can legally do an engine swap provided that the engine is the same year as the car or newer. Most people, however, do not bother with getting a genuine gold stamp of approval from BAR if the car is inspection exempt. Davy
  17. The yellow is mild and very tasteful! Are you going with a black center for the Kinesis K57 wheels or gunmetal? Details, man, details! Davy
  18. Yes, just click on the "group buy info" link supplied to you by Aux three posts up. He even posted pics of clearance, Clarence. His trusty assistant held the wheel in place for the photo shoot Davy
  19. The bark on those trees can grow a few feet thick. I love those trees and after seeing them back in April I found out more about their history; some are 1000 years old and I find that amazing. Makes your 30 year old Z kind of plain in comparison. On the other hand, you cannot drive a Sequoia Davy
  20. Lee, We're a bunch of motorheads here, so you won't get a bunch of purist remarks regarding the superiority of the Z car to your Miata Seriously, you're like us and not wedded to being brand specific--we just dig Z cars in general and how to make them faster, etc. The Miata is great and even better with a V8, right? You're among friends here, welcome. Davy
