  1. I just got back from the dyno and wanted some thoughts on my AFR plot for my L28ET. I've been told that the tuner tuned the map via the O2 sensor and the readings from the graph where taken from the exhaust, hence in reality the numbers should be slightly richer. The car feels great on the road but I've shown the graph to a few people and they've told me that there shouldn't be so many spikes in my AFR plot and it should be smooth. Is this really the case and is it worth spending more dyno time to smooth out? The guy who tuned the car for me I guess doesnt think so or he would have addressed it?
  2. There are not enough green Zs in this thread...
  3. Thanks for trying. I will contact Yasin directly to see if he still has it. I know it's probably a big ask on HybridZ for someone to have a stock dyno sheet, but I was thinking maybe someone has done a benchmark of their stock car before they started to modify it.
  4. Hi folks, Does anyone have a dyno graph for a completely stock 280ZX Turbo that they can post or direct me to. Thanks,
  5. Very sweet ride, surprised about how clunky the driveline is.
  6. Shame the guy is no longer here to defend himself from those that call him dumb for spending this much.
  7. Thanks for your input. I have checked the arm and I can confirm there is play. The only thing I can think of is that you're right, the clutch is slipping and possibly I didn't break it in correctly.
  8. I could feel the car not accelerating but the revs were stuck at 5000rpm The smell afterwards was definitely a burnt clutch smell. It can go above 5,000rpm, and I did when I changed gear. I really want to get to the bottom of this.
  9. Hi there, I've got a 73 240Z running an L28ET (P90 head and stock turbo cam) with aftermarket computer controlling spark and fuel. My best time last year at the strip was a 13.9 but this year my times have been terrible in the 16s. The only thing that's different from last years set up is an S14 tranny as opposed to an S130 one, a quaife ATB and due to lower profile rear tyres an overall gear ratio of 3.7 as opposed to 3.54. So I would expect my times to improve not to get worse... My clutch has remained the same it's an ACT Clutch rated at 410ft/lbs, I've hardly done that many miles on it less than 2000 approx. I dynoed the car last year and she was putting out 290hp and 328ft/lb of torque, with the same clutch. What I experienced at the strip was the following, she would get to 5,000 revs and would just stay there, my foot would be completely off the clutch pedal (I wasn't riding it) and fully down on the gas but the revs wouldn't rise. At the end of the run there was a really strong smell of burnt clutch. I'm finding it hard to believe that my clutch is slipping due to the power I'm producing as it's rated for much more torque then what what I'm producing. Could the clutch be slipping due to an electrical/ECU problem? Or does this just sound like a bad clutch? Thanks!
  10. Can I just add that the pics SunnyZ posted show a polished axle, mine didnt look like that. Not fitted mine yet so can't comment on how they've held up. Sunny did you polish yours or is that how they came?
  11. Has any testing been done on the effectiveness of the 280zx vents on the late turbo cars, which have the NACA style vent. I'm thinking that if Nissan got it right on the 28they turbo (they usually do with theri development) it's just a question of grafting the vents on to an S30 hood. What's eveyones thoughts on this, i don't see it done that often which makes me wonder why as it's appears an obvious route.

    V-Band Clamps

I've also wondered about the difference in quality and price and what to go for as I have zero experience with these clamps. Are these clamps universal ie, if you have one make of flange flange welded to your exhaust can you use another companies clamp? Hope that made sense! With my predicament I've got an intake manifold I purchased with the flange welded to it, it didn't come with the clamp so no idea which to go for in terms of price or whether make makes a difference in terms of if it will fit.
  13. Has anyone tried using any rubber insulators with these? I can imagine the ride will be harsher with these fitted?
  14. I know a member on here who has one, he raves about it. I just told him about this thread.
  15. Awesome! You must be feeling good, not long now.
  16. The finned R200 diffs came with a metal vent, maybe see if Nissan stocks the metal vents if melting is an issue.
  17. Get to doctor and go to the police station and file a complaint about dangerous driving with the witness details to back it up, forget about the damage to the car until you've done that. It is what it is, there is o way your shop is less competent then another, it could have happened to anyone else who was in front of her.
  18. The ladies husband has some cheek. Don't blame yourself you've let no one down, this was an accident which wasn't your fault. Go and see a doctor you may have whiplash.
  19. +1. I would not drove it until you do that.
  20. Congrats, it's a great feleling. You might notice a vacuum has now been left that will need filling by another z project.
  21. How about trying to hire the tool or take it to a shop with the correct tools to finish it off. Sounds like it won't take them long, so shouldn't cost you much. The biggest cost will be trailering it there.
  22. Good to hear you got it off, I don't think you'd have been able to sleep otherwise!
  23. That is an awesome write up! Thank you.
