rossman
I wanted to see what you guys think of this ad. I have my doubts, especially the statement "The N42 Head is the only one that CAN BE PORTED for Racing Applications." http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/4883001332.html
rturbo 930
Based on the rust on the block, and what looks like a lot of dirt on the open valve train, I'm not so sure I'd call that "Great condition". And what a deal at just $3300. And since when is an N42 head 'rare' ? Edited March 7, 2015 by rturbo
kiwi303
Every head can be ported... And Great Condition equals the block covered in rust? No signs of oil or rags in the intakes/exhausts... so I dred to think what the bores will be line on the cylinders with open valves.
RB26powered74zcar
That's far from a "new" engine.
NewZed
Wouldn't a new factory engine have a painted block? Looks like a rebuilt engine with a new head.
Derek
I bought one of these when nissan was liquidating them. Actually I missed out on the full engines and ended up with a short block. I was lucky I did as a lot of the full engines had a lot of cylinder wall rust. So based on the exterior and the fact that the inners are probably rusty as well I would not touch it. Tony D
For the claims...no photos of the box or serial number pad on the engine...PFFFT! Dude's smoking crack at $3,300. I wouldn't WANT one like that if I DID find it! A junkyard motor and $2,800 in parts and machine work with me assembling it makes more sense than that boat-anchor. dhp123166
Yes, great condition.
gnosez
I do nearly $4k in work done of my E31 head and now I find out it can't be used for racing! Oh, what will I do now? What did all those racers do before the N42 head came along? Oh, the anguish...

SleeperZ
I hope that craiglist ad sits around longer than that engine.

dreco
Nissan "Stamped" N42/L26 Long Block "Crate Motor" with the Highly-Desirable Nissan Racing - N42......... I stopped right there. for 3300 it should look like this. Edited March 11, 2015 by dreco
texis30O
I emailed him, he didn't have much to say. He said the cylinders were clean, I almost spit on my monitor when I read that. He gave me no cam specs, he also said the box was destroyed and that there was not a label or any other information he could give me....
