Strong Arm 4477N10 Gas Charged Lift Support 10176N10W

I ordered 2 of these from these guys, https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/strong-arm-4477n10-gas-charged-ball-socket-lift-struts-supports-10176n10w/ and a pak of 4 ball studs, the struts are 43lb and hold the hood any position 16" or higher, below that and the weight of the hood takes over and it closes. I'm pretty happy with it, here are a few more pics,

Got the exhaust system built, welded and hung last week, hopefully it won't be too loud but I really wanted to eliminate the back pressure that the stock exhaust had.

The whole system is from Vibrant, 2 Ultra quiet straight through resonators welded together, 1in 2out ultra quiet straight through muffler, 4 mandrel bent 3" pipes and the collector I made.

This is what I have been working on in the last couple weeks, because this engine is so tall I have no room to install a shock tower brace so will be adding some internal hidden bracing that should help stiffen things up. Nothing is welded in yet, just test fitting for when the car comes back from the acid dip.post-28202-0-35651600-1481717703_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-34793700-1481717601_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-63360000-1481717637_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-97565400-1481717667_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-96255400-1481717724_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-95539600-1481717748_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-43139300-1481717804_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-03536400-1481717830_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-19744300-1481717875_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-77547800-1481717894_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-65592300-1481717920_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-03518700-1481717957_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-24041900-1481717975_thumb.jpgpost-28202-0-76328000-1481718009_thumb.jpg

Nice, I like that approach! I have yet to figure out the real height my engine will sit at, but I'm guessing with a supercharger and intercooler on top I'll be looking to do something similar. Keep up the good work and pictures, welds look really nice.

Been busy, have now completed all the work that needed doing before the acid dip, all the patches and bracing have been made, 350Z seats installed,  intergrated the Datsun and bmw wiring harnesses, ran a complete electrical test for all lights and megasquirt system, dash is complete now with the new gauges and wiring, all new brake, clutch and fuel lines have been built and the rotisserie is ready spin.

Just have to lower the car onto the dolly and have it towed to the dippers. I'm hoping they will let me take some pictures of the car being lowered into the boiling acid bath but won't be surprised if there is some bs legal policy preventing it.

Looking amazing! Are the hood hinges stock and you just added the lift shocks?

Thanks, yes stock hinges

Nice looking brake lines!

It is this stuff I got from fedhillusa.com, it is called Cunifer brake line from Britain, It is a copper/nickle/steel alloy and is just the best stuff to work with, I didn't even use my tube bender the line is so easy to bend I just used bare hands. It takes nice tight corners and with just a bit of 0000 steel wool it comes up gleaming shiny. They sell it in 25ft rolls which is just enough to do all new brake lines but not the clutch line, I re-used one of the rear stock brake lines that was in good shape so I would have enough to do the clutch line.

This is the engine test stand from last summer with all the uprights cut off, it will now be the car dolly until the drivetrain is back in

The acid dippers usually do American classics and Hot Rods so I thought a little inexpensive insurance might help,
