  1. Thought I would actually post my build in the project section since this is a project. As the story goes my 1995 240sx was stolen on 10/21/12. Had SR20DET S15 with the S15 6speed, Nistune ECU management. Tomei 272/272 cams. 750cc injectors, Z32 MAF. AEM tru-boost controller. Ran the J30 dif with abs sensor that I used with a Digital decoder to convert signal for the speedo. Full gauge setup last tune done on the car in July put 305 HP to the rear wheels at 15lbs of boost. Car had working A/C. Fortune 500 coilovers, Isis rear adjustable suspension. Paint and body work done in July as well, Navan front bumper, side skirts and rear valiance. Here is a dyno pull!! http://s158.photobucket.com/user/melbellwood1/media/1995%20Nissan%20240sx/20110923_162204.mp4.html Here is a run at the track!! http://s158.photobucket.com/user/melbellwood1/media/1995%20Nissan%20240sx/20120113_185224.mp4.html The gray 240 is a friend of mines, He runs deep into the 11's at the track makes 390hp runs sticky drag radials all with A/C! Car was recovered 3 days later stripped. Did not have full coverage, my stupidity. Makes ya sick. Now onto the next project. Found thru the internet in Salt Lake City Utah. Car originally bought by person when living in California. Car was originally green and repainted in the early 80’s red. Late model 1974 260Z. Car had updated DGV carbs installed. Western Star wheels and headlight covers with a rear deck louver. Car ran great for short trips to work and out. But my first road trip to a car show about 60 miles away the car overheated on the freeway cruising at 70mph. So switched out for a new radiator and thermostat. First upgrades was a twin pipe exhaust through twin glass packs. Sound is awesome. Power is limited. I was originally going do a head swap, raise the compression and run triple 2 barrels. I wanted to get 200+ hp. After driving the car for 3 months and missing the pull of a turbo, I decided to do a turbo. Didn’t help that a close friend drives a Golf daily with 400+ hp to the front wheels and owns a tuning shop. I decided from research (not deep enough to add a turbo to the 260Z motor because I am over 4 times that cost so far and still counting). Looking it over I thought with intercooler and buying all the parts that I could do this with only about $1500 out of pocket and I would have a turbo driver! HAHAHAHA..... Plans are to be a driver with some track use. Here are some of my trips to time attacks and road course racing. http://s158.photobucket.com/user/melbellwood1/media/Tooquick260z/20130216_150116_zps0eee095d.mp4.html At the point of putting the parts together and driving my car some issues started happening to the 40 year old car. The transmission that worked flawlessly started being difficult to put in first gear (after removal realized it was the slave cylinder no pressure). It developed an exhaust leak, thought it was the new exhaust that I installed. During removal of the intake realized that the #6 cylinder exhaust bolts were gone, yeah missing. Also the head gasket was leaking. I found great deals on all the parts and put them together. Turbo, ECU, AFM, wiring harness etc. Look at the boxes of parts WOW! I located a P90 head and had it rebuilt and flycut. Bought some cam tower shims from Derek, member on hear from Ocala. I put new valves from the 75-78 head with some addition spring spacers got them lined up. Before.... After.... Bolted to the head with cam timing done. Cleaned the engine compartment and painted with a few coats of clear. Looks like a deep dark hole where all the money has gone. Who’s counting right! While this was going on my brother toasted his 1993 300zx by letting the timing belt break, can you say interference. With the tranny going bad(auto) and a/c problems and other issues he decided to part it out. So, I purchased a lot of the parts from him. Breaks, Diff, MAF, Master cylinder and booster, and drive shaft to put in my Z. To put all that stuff on I purchased the rear setup from TechnoToyTuning. Nice stuff. Rear Z32 diff mounts, coilovers with Tokico’s. Old and new clutch, I should hook now!!! Handle the projected 250 HP! So since I had a 6 speed in the stolen car I decided to go with the same tranny. S15 6speed. I researched and found a few people with attempted installs of this tranny but no one had a step by step build. I posted I wanted to do this and a fellow member Xnke (Jacob) said he could help. He said to send the 6 speed with an S30 bellhousing. So I purchases a 6 Speed from JDM Tech of Orlando put them on a crate and sent to Xnke. He then cut the S30 bellhousing and mated it to the S15 6 Speed. Jacob informed me that this is actually a Mazda MX-5 6 speed. he can source and work on these tranny's! Awesome. Here are pics of taking the S30 tranny out and apart. Then with the 6 speed back ready to be installed. Znke even machined the speed access hole for the S30 speedo cable. He got the 4.11 speedo gear that will work great with the Z32 4.09 rear diff. Tranny installed and mounted in Stock tranny mount! Street T installed to run the turbo oiling line. Electric fans installed,,,, Isis 12" fans Stay tuned for the process.......

Simple roll center calculator for the Z car based on measuring the angle of the control arm. I tried to list all the definitions and assumptions. Please drop me a comment if you see any errors or improvements. I checked it against my professional software and got the same values when using the same inputs so I think the math is correct.
  4. We have been speaking with BC Racing to create a coilover system for the 280ZX We already have a 1980 ZX to use as template but we wanted to know what are things that customers would be interested in like extreme kit, camber plates and other. We also wanted to know if there's any difference between years or models on the 280ZX. Please let us know if there's any interest so we can make this happen.

  7. Gather around folks I'm building my dream car. Some may know me here, some may not. I've been building nissans for 15 years now. My last personal build started in 2009 on this forum but I stopped documenting after 2011. I just sold my entire setup to my best friend, which I also sold my 2nd 240z too. So I'm starting to document a new chapter in my build. I tore down my black car and we are completely rebuilding my friends orange one better than ever. The original setup was amazing, never let me down. R34 NEO motor, GT35R, Tein coilovers with edfc, clsd, axles, wilwoods.... etc. This brings us to my new build and it's current state on my rotisserie waiting to get massacred. I'll post some photos and get this ball rolling Donor car was an ever so gracious R33 GTR Vpec, 90% of parts came from the same car. I will be grafting front and rear sub frames into my Z chassis, including the AWD system, Brembos, suspensions (tein), Axles, Diff, etc from the GTR... I've even gone ahead and gotten the GTR pedel set and Master so she should feel as GTR as possible from inside. Steering column, steering rack all modern and hydraulic (and left hand drive ) I've collected 90% of the bizarre hardware associated with the awd system too. Also will be doing GTR gauges, chassis strengthening, new wiring, wheels, so on and so forth.... My old car was quite the track beast, I intend to make this one deadlier than ever. More so I just love building so I'm doing it Grab some popcorn, this ones going to take a minute!

  14. Dads old Z

Hey Zers, My Dad passed a little over a year ago and in doing so, told me to take care of his old Z. its an 82 280zx n/a. well,i didn't no to much about cars at the time but i know he said to keep the engine that was in it (didn't have to be stock). so after much reading and tons of "old Mechanic" advice,iv since rebuilt the entire engine. here is what i have done "surprisingly my self" so far.... Head (work done by Rebello) - N42 head, bigger valves, port, polished, some work done to the galleys for coolant and oil. Valve Train - Custom cam 512 Lift, 300 Duration, Stiff springs, new Rocker Arms/Lash pads.new timing sprocket/chain. Block- 0.60 over,JE Flat Top Pistons,Lightened and balanced crankshaft, new Barrings. CR- just at or slightly under 11:1 on 93 Octane, Timing *19 Int and *38 Full at WOT. (No Ping!) 220-240 psi Ignition- Modified Distributor (New Dizzy and Dizzy shaft), Full MSD 6AL-2 Ignition with Blaster-2 Coil Intake- Triple 44 Mikuni Carburetors Exhaust- MSA 3-2-1 Headers into a 2.75 inch,no Cat,Dynojet Ultra flow muffler. Drive Train- Auto to N/A 1983 5 speed,Aluminum flywheel/Drive-shaft, R200 4.11 Differential from 200sx Other- Turbo oil pump, new alternator, new battery,New *Champion 4 core Aluminum Radiator, Tires- Rear : 245-60-14 fronts are 205-60-14 -- Well that's pretty much it.i gutted the dash, all A/C HVAC stuff,no spare tire,12lb race seats,11lb CF hood, Custom Aluminum bumpers (look stock),all digital oil, fuel.air ratio, volts gauges.Steel pillar louvers from 81' ZX as well as the 130mph speedo. I havent had it on a dyno yet for max tuning or ran the track but it takes my buddies mildly modified 86' FoxBody Stang all day until i hit 135-140 mph, then wind resistance goes to s**t..but i can max out my speed around 6,800 in 5th gear,7,000 with some tuning im sure. 0-60 times are crazy,1st hits 38mph like intantly and 2nd hits 58mph not much slower,3rd hits around 80 pretty fast,4th is like my OLD 3rd but tops around 110-115 (speedo isnt to accurate around 100 so) 5th pulls nice all the way to redline. Post comments and let me know what you think. Estamated HP? P.S- Going from my auto gear of 3.54 to the 200sx diffy of 4.11 was an incredibly large difference in acceleration, car sounds like a F*****g Indie car lol! also vary streetable with the big cam and lower geared diff. wasn't to fun on the street with the 3.54 and that cam profile.
  15. Hi there i have looked a bit everyone and dont know quite whats wrong and how to get my speedo working. My dash cluster is new and 100% working. But still my speedo doesnt move i was told its due to having a rb20det tranny which uses a mechanical speedo while the cars rb25 requires an electrical speedo. I was told that by putting in a rb20e r33 speedo drive would resolve this . Im not too sure on how accurate this is and Id like any tips or ways to resolve the issue. Preferably not too expensive. Im sure many people have done this b4 looking for how to get the speedo working again . (NOTE : previous owners dropped the 20det gbox in , i was told its a small issue but more i looked into it after buying most mechanics have suggested putting in a rb25det bigbox, i dont see the need as the gbox is tight and strong and I am running no modes all stock factory 100,000kms. engine 60,000km tranny )
  16. Everything is from a 1983 280ZX with 3N71B auto trans. Complete, uncut wiring harness: The sticker on the computer reads A11-654 806. Some of the connectors from the engine bay have UV damage, but everything else is in great shape. Asking $80 plus shipping. Window motors next.. I tested them after they were out of the car, and they can power themselves freely in each direction. Asking $15 ea. plus shipping. Finally, the distributor. I installed this D6K8 dizzy on my own 240Z and verified that it works perfectly fine. This came out of a '83 ZX. Probably noticed by now that it has an E12-93 matchbox module. I've been running one of these for years now on my own 240Z. It was what I had on hand when an E12-80 failed on me. When the later modules are wired correctly, they work just as well as an E12-80. Just need to run 1 extra wire, and I've posted about it before. Glad to share how to do it. Asking $80 plus shipping.
  17. MIne is much better looking than the image from the interweb found above. In very good condition, slight dog-earing of one corner of front cover. No pages missing. Rare item. Covers 1974 Datsun 260Z and 260Z 2+2 $100 plus shipping to your door. PM me for more.
  18. Hey HybridZ! Been a member for awhile now I don't post as much as I used to but here I am finally letting go of my longtime project 280zx since I bought it in 2007. It's actually pretty frustrating letting go but I must part ways with her and let someone else give a shot at it since my financial status has just recently changed and no longer can afford to put anymore money into her. So here's the deal since I bought the Z there she has been threw some bumps on the road, first was the hit & run on the front while I was at work 2 years after I purchased her, second I moved quite a few times and due to that I am not able to located the title I can swear that its one I found about a month ago that was soaked in water from water damage to my garage but this wasn't the only 280zx I have owned. I wanted to be upfront with everyone that is interested I am not trying to screw anyone over, the Z is still registered and tagged until May of this year. I live in Southern Oregon (Medford to be exact) any vehicle here that's 20 years or older does not require smog of any kind so to rule out any questions about smog I would not know since I haven't own any car that's newer 1986 for a long time now. So lets start, I am selling my 1981 Datsun 280zx that has a 1983 280zx Turbo drivetrain, L28ET engine , Borg Warner 5 speed transmission both had 70k miles when I pulled off the running donor car, stock R200 3.90 diff, turbo CV Axles with new cv boots, It has a rebuilt P90a Head solid lifter just last year so not long ago, has a AiResearch T3/TO4E Turbo was already in the donor car, running on Z31 87 ECU & MAF done by previous owner from the donor car, Steeda Tri-Ax Short Shifter, MSD SS Blaster Coil, new cap & rotor, new spark plugs & wires, MSA front & rear sway bars with polyurethane bushings, Koyo aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, stock 280zx turbo exhaust with megan 3" muffler, 16 inch Ultra mesh wheels believe 16x7. The Z does not smoke but it does run really rich and burns a lot of fuel not oil and no leaks at all, I drive it threw town regularly and runs decently smooth as long as I am not on WOT and when I try to it doesn't seem to have half the power. On a cold day it will run the best or when engine is not fully warmed up but it does hick up here and there but not always when driven. The main thing to get fixed is get the O2 sensor put on I had an adapter nut that would fit or so I thought and fell off sometime ago I am using the Z31 O2 the 280zx O2 sensor is covering the hole, lately the Z sits but I do still drive it around town to give it a good warm up and drive it back home. If I drive it too regularly the car will have a rough idle and idle really low until I give it a little gas and let it warm up, 4 weeks ago I took the spark plugs out one by one and every single one was black with carbon burned on the top cleaned them and would run much better after that. I also wanted to add that I have a really nice parts car same year and color but has no engine or trans and has a rear end damage it was given to me by a friend, it can replace some of the bad parts on the running Z as you will see in the pictures. Also the parts car has a Rack & Pinion that can replace the ball steering on the running Z to give the turbo some more room. I am asking $2500 obo pm me your offer No Trades and can't part it out, will sell with or without the parts car as I stated parts car was free, I would love to see it go to a Z enthusiast and he/she can hopefully get it all restored or become a fun weekend maybe a daily driver as it was for me. Again I am located in Medford, Oregon about an hour & half away from the border of California and about 4-5 hours from Portland, Oregon. I would love to get it sold before the end of this month but all to its time. Contact me 541-210-7639 my name is Jorge, Text me 541-844-7556 or PM me! Parts Car, spoiler is no longer on the car.
