  2. Those 500's were pretty sweet! I had a '75 Yamaha RD350, until a '75 Town Car ran a red light.....only 40 days and 4700 miles on it...
  3. The coolant temp sensor needs to be replaced - my gas guage reads right as rain. You do need the analog harness unless you LIKE splicing....You may also need to swap out the defroster switch...
  4. Flexi: Can't answer your question, but MSII_Extra has a field for Cranking Advance. I have a friend w/and '82ZXT running SDS and he has the same problem - have to set up what advance the car likes to crank with @ 500 RPM (10) and then ramp it up in 250 RPM intervals to the full 20.
  5. Media Blasting is the only way to be sure you get everything and not leave anything chemical in there. Compressed air will get out most if not all of the media. I would coat the inside of the support with Zero Rust, but others will probably chime in and say to use POR-15...
  6. Actually, compressor size/engine size ratio and amount of boost plays a part in the configuration for an intercooler. A stock or near stock size compressor section should have the tubes going sideways (longer) to get rid of as much heat as possible. Huge compressors which don't heat the air as much for the same boost are better off with shorter tubes oriented vertically.

  8. Thermodynamics of Hell The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well. Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: "First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added. This gives two possibilities: 1) If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose. 2) If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. . So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "...it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having an affair with her, then #2 above cannot be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and will not freeze over." THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A".

    I f I'm not mistaken, you were kind enough to make some laser cut heater control panels modified based upon your original design, MANY years back. I am actually putting my dash together, and came up with a mounting solution for the control levers. After about an hour of searching, I cannot find a pic of your panel anywhere on the site, and the 'Albums' page doesn't seem to be working.   11. You will need 6 BP's, just like you would need 2 of the models you linked to - one channel for each coil...

  13. I'm running 235/60/14's on the back of my S130 with 0 offset Western Cyclone II wheels and they don't stick out.
  14. You can try putting some holes between the engine compartment and the fenderwell (air in engine compartment will flow into the wheelwells). I believe that George Costanza in the GA Z Club did this and added some fans to cool his V8 Z... I'd also think about building a box araound the inlets for the webers and duct cool air to them from the front of the car. This would insure the coolest air possible....

  16. If you're only looking for ~350 HP, no reason to get away from the hydro cam - heck - ther're good for 400+ (depending upon boost)
  17. YOu can easily install a turbo (will require a Turbo oilpan too) with the stock internals. If I were to do this I would utilize and aftermarket ECU (which I am going to utilize on my '83 ZXT) in order to have better reliability and driveability.
  18. Actually, with the speed density system that MS uses, with ITB's, you actually need to manufacture a plenum and plumb it to each runner between the ITB's and head. This will serve to provide a source for vacuum for brakes and MAP sensor, and eliminate as much pulsing as possible. This plenum needs to be a certain size (depending upon things like runner length and diameter) and there are guidelines/formulas for calculating it - nothing wrong with being a bit larger than necessary either!
  19. If it's the BP then he shouldn't have to worry - it will shutdown because of thermal protection, the VB though would be fried...
  20. The Nissan turbine housing is different from the Ford 5-Bolt, so the exhaust housing would have to be swapped - it is a .63 A/R housing. Someone is using this on an S130 already...but he got a new turbo...
  21. If you're talking jack stands, I'd use the front subframe and underneath the axles (use blocks of wood). These areas are built to carry weight...
  22. I', suprised that it took this long for your son, but am glad to se it happen. I married my present wife who's son was 11 at the time, who made the decision when her son was 10 to have him stay with his father (married and she had kids already, which was better than single working mom...). The tough part for her was her ex was in Austin, TX and she was here in Atlanta, GA. When I first started dating her, she said she was going to drive out to see him one Friday and come back on Sunday. I immediately quashed that idea and said I'd fly him here for 2 weeks or a month (depending upon what activities he had going on during the summer), and have done that ever since. We just flew to San Diego for his wedding (yes, we've been married 18 years now), and I haven't regretted the time or money spent in helping to raise him in any way shape or form. At this age, boys need fathers more than mothers IMO, and I don't believe I am a male chauvinist pig in stating this. I hope everything works out well for you and your son (I've met you both at what used to be SEZ), and look forward to seeing both of you again!
