Actually, I forgot the smiley. Being I have an early '74 which came with the C pillar mounted retractors and an early '77(yes, there is a difference between early and late in this year model) which has the rear strut tower retractors, well... you get the idea. I've also looked into using them for speakers, but as stated already tweeters is about all you have room for. Now switching over the retractors from my '74 to my '77 and then gutting the '77's to just use the cover as an enclosure would give enough room, but then mounting the speaker becomes the issue.

Those are the seat belt retractors, if I'm not mistaken.

Rick, Does this mean your done having fun with your Z car? http://dallas.craigslist.org/car/237149596.html

I don't think a '72 240Z has a charcoal canister from the factory. I know the '72 I was looking at just last Friday only had two fuel lines on the passenger side frame rail.

Happy birthday Scottie. Nice lift, but when was the last time you cleaned your garage? lol My GF always wanted a '69 Camaro, until she went on her first cruise in the '77 280Z with me and the club about 8 months after we got together. She's loved them ever since. Rolling around some curvy roads with posted limit signs we were far exceeding. I think she would enjoy autoX aswell. She likes being slung around in a Z. To funny. She knows when I'm down about not having the money to get yet another part for the '74 in the garage. She even named it "her majesty" after she heard me call it "my mistress". She understands the obsession and I can spend as much time out in the garage as I want. She knows she would rather have me out there rather then have me going out. Now if I could just get her to work more so I can afford more Z parts...

Been awhile since my last update. The sad part is I've been waiting for the extra time and money to get one $20 bulkhead -6AN fitting for the turbo oil drain line, for when I go turbo. I didn't want to pull the motor later to put the fitting in the oil pan. Fitting is just capped for now. It clears the exhaust by 1/8". If I would have used the stock turbo oil pan with the stock oil drain tube sticking out I would have had interference with the exhaust. The motor is finally in! Been about 6 years since the last time I put a motor in this Z. Been almost 3 since I pulled the last one and the engine bay has been empty until now. I wasn't sure if I could get it in with the intake and exhaust bolted on. The 6 to 1 had me worried, but it went in without a fuss. I didn't want to try it with the SU's on though. I started hooking everything up. I goofed and dropped the powder coated water pump pulley. I'm not going to worry about that now. You can hardly see it anyways. Thats it for now. Hopefully I can get this thing running in the next couple of weeks. I deleted some old pics to make room for the new. Previous links to pics are now fubarred. link to album: http://album.hybridz.org/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=7958 P.S. my first pic has a rim in it. Does anyone know where to get one like this except in Z 4 lug?

Zeta looks so happy. -
My bad. I had 4 different people listen to it at work and all of them said the same thing, especially at the very end. I only noticed acouple notes that seemed "wrong", but just thought it was to much of an rpm change in such a short span to make it sound right. Lots of similarities. This has me curious about something now.

The rubber seal is still available from a number of suppliers. Do a search for windshield rubber seal on here, or Ebay and you'll find pletty. I have time to kill, so..: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/SWR01H/34-1001 http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/z/0010.html The locking strip is the stainless steel strip once inserted into the weather stripping.

I hope you were being sarcastic. "From every mountain top, let freedom ring", sound familiar?

I had considered replacing the backer, but the post by Dave about fiberglass repair was intriguing. I have been in the process of redoing my door panels for acouple months on and off. This is one of my last projects to finish my interior. I have all the fabric it's just the backer I'm still thinking about. From looking at my door panels, the backer appears to be a product called masonite, which I use at work often. This is the same material that is used for the pegboards mentioned acouple posts up by Z-TARD. This is not exactly a particle board. It's actually closer to MDF(medium density fiberboard), but less dense. Wetting particle board is not a good idea as the water will be soaked up by the wood particles and it will release from the glues used to hold it together. Look in the sink cabinet of an old home and you usually see evidence of this. Wetting a piece of masonite could be an option though. Like MDF, masonite has a good resistance to moisture deterioration. Getting the new backer to conform to the door panel appears to have been done with a press, of sorts. Possibly a steam press. I know in the making of plywood, particle board, MDF and masonite that each has to go through a pressing process. Head liners are done in the same fashion. Different manufacturers use different pressures for different densities. The tighter the density the better, but usually more expensive. The factory backer appears to be pretty dense. 1/8" masonite is pretty rigid/dense. I had considered using 1/8" masonite, but cutting in specific places to allow the backer to conform to the door in the desired fashion. Taping/hot melting the cut areas back together once completed. This would still lead to problems in the curvatures. I'll be testing several different ways and materials. I'll try to touch more on the process I use at a later date.

Being some moron just tried to steal my '77 out of the driveway yesterday at about noon, I need another ignition switch with key. Just the metal parts needed.

A simple search revealed: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104828&highlight=OIL+RESTRICTOR Which discusses the use of an oil restrictor to the oil feed line going to the turbo, in relation to an L series.

I have a '92 Pathy 2WD 4dr if you need some info from it. On a side note: It's great being able to slide up under a vehicle to work on it without having to jack it up. Changing a 31" tire sucks though. Heres a good site for Pathy info aswell: http://npora.ipbhost.com//

It's been afew months, but I planned on it. I need to show you my new toy. It isn't pretty, but after I use it for what I want to use it for, it wouldn't be pretty anyways. LOL Any way I can get that resistor from you at the meeting if you still have it? I finally finished the wiring in the engine bay tonight and I'm about to drop the motor in (been saying that for acouple weeks now) and under dash wiring is left. I'll have pics up in acouple of days. -

Every body shop I have been to has the big sign stating "NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR FIRE, THEFT OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND" or something to that effect. While my '74 was in the body shop for 11 months I had insurance on it, but didn't go through the paper work with the insurance company. I don't know what would have happened if something went wrong while there. Nationwide was the company I had at the time (for 12 years at that time) and they knew it was in the body shop and didn't have any paper work for me to fill out. They just said it was covered. I had replacement insurance on it, without appraised value (I know). Infact, I had insurance on my '74 two years after the body shop while it sat in my garage getting put back together. I finally cancelled it after talking to my mortgage company about the vehicle and raising my insurance to cover any damages that could happen while in the garage for ANY vehicle. It came out to be about the same money through the same company using the house policy rather then the vehicle policy. Go figure.
