  1. Frist kit sold,,, Just thought I'd show you guys. Too bad it's not in my ZX!
  2. Pull everything from the bottom and inspect everything and post pics. Worst case, you will have to do a full rebuild, and you will at least have most of the labor done. I might want to do a leak down test, and also post up compression test numbers before disassembly. I've seen problems with cromolly rings not setting right. Hopefully the molly ring has not set a lip in the cylinder yet. The question of molly rings or not is above me and I would have to research more on the subject before I ran them my self. One thing that I heard about a long time ago is the Detroit went hard rings, soft block, once the compression dropped the entire engine was garbage due to whored out clys. "planned obsolescent" However, hard clys and hard rings, don't know. With the pistons out, turn engine over and put some thin oil in, to insure valves are well sealed.
  3. I love my PS. Just bling the reservoir and pump?
  4. Odd???? Love to here some more input on this, me quite surprised.
  5. Mine (83zx na) will be at eighty when cold. Idel will be up close to yours as well. When heated up, not nearly so high. (really warmed up) Could just be a gauge problem, the loss of oil should not be a factor in why it is soo high. Search, there was some advice to a mach. gauge on the engine at the sensor location, if I remeber correctly.
  6. How many miles on that engine since last rebuild? If you kept all bearings and same crank and just replaced the oil ring..... Has to go back together the SAME way, all things have to be in place. Were the rings oem type, or hardened? If it is soft rings and last boring job is in good shape still,,, There are others that can answer better then me, mabey Z-ya or Jhonc can chime in. I know money is tight, if it were not I know what way you WOULD go, however......
  7. Can pull up to 80amp. May need to do an alt upgrade.
  8. Second pic, is that a door mat?
  9. Remember that the postal service is cutting back, things may be even slower then typical.
  10. Don't know how much will be lost, but you will notice it. Then again your gas bill will be less;) Can't you weld up the snout on the crank? Also replace the rings? without tearing the top down? Just check the tolerances of the bores.
  11. All things work together. If you went with flat tops, cam and maby exhaust, put the old intake on, then the new, at the dyno. Money permitting. Getting rid of that fan will surprise you in sound as well as throttle response. Any one thing can help, but really inproving the entire top end of the air pump (engine) can produce significant results! The potential of the horns is still sitting there, just needs to be tapped!!!
  12. My engine is pretty fresh, 87k. Give them to me;) Can't believe you running without a hitch. Not to bring murphy down on you but, there were soooo many things that could of caused a failure, that makes it an amazing success!!
  13. Very much agree, maby an add: Ceramic stock flat tops, and/or, meth injection. This can save money. If you go for forged and detonate to death, which CAN happen in one pull, you will loose less money. I will assume here: The chances of killing a piston with just one of the things added above will give you approx the same amount of blowing a stocker vs. forged.
  14. I take it you are running edis? Nice distributer cover;)
  15. Nice funiture:) Is that real sheepskin?
  16. beckarnley That is my turbo clutch assembly, I'm na. Really was pleased with it's quality, but, only time will really tell;)
  17. ^^ True, I only wanted so much to keep drivablity. I can start the car out in second, shifting is easy and throttle response in amazing! I'm weighing in at 17. Taking the meat out of the outer radius is where most of the action is anyhow. Balance the flywheel after work, and the pressure plate. Just that alone makes the engine almost invisible to the sense of feeling, I have to watch the rpms when driving,,,,,,,(loud stereo)
  18. Right now he's driveing it like a grandma.....teehee. This would produce a realitvely tame viedo;)
  19. Year and a half is not that long. Your on the right track, (just in case), me, I would had triied to fire it up, if it moved frist by hand. And checked the oil.
  20. Come on, add a little spice to your life!! Mine is lightened by 6.5lbs, taking her to redline the frist time made my heart skip a beat:).
  21. No, however, a little meth injection, (Ive been told and seen), helps to solve this problem. The only issue I have, will this last and can it be uniform so as not to cause ping.
