  1. Wonder what caused that. I can't seem to figure it out.
  2. I used to have some problems with my 82. The reason I found is that the hazard switch was not fully disengaging. Forceing the switch abit solve issue. Just a thought.
  3. Pull the bottom plug, I believe it is magnatized and check for "chunks". It will give you a better idea how bad things might be. There is some kind of "keeper" in the synco mesh?? that keeps a gear engaged under pressure and its problaly just worn out in fifth gear. I COULD BE WRONG HERE!! I've been told that you should never leave your hand on the shifter while in gear due to ware on the keepers. Also not to pull the car out of gear while coasting. The long range effects are "popping" out of gear. I shift with out the clutch all the time, and I do leave my hand on the shifter in certian gears. (shifting w/o clutch is DD not power shifting) Personally seems like she'll get you there just take it easy and maby diengage gear under deacceleation.

  6. ok so i have come to the conclusion that if i do get this car the first thing i want to do is get it running than just make as much power as i can. i dont care how it looks i just want to convert it into a 5 spd and put the numbers down with as much boost as possible with out a whole bunch of money. i mean i would love to have a great looking car but a rust bucket that runs like a bat out of hell is way more fun that a 10 star looker that couldn't pass a school bus. Not getting the run on. Try a little structure to what you are saying.
  7. I believe it was quite cheep, around $40 for joints and someone to remove them. I did the joints on my 82. When I had them in a 20 ton press to remove the joint I had to lay into it kinda hard than BOOOM parts went flying eveywhere! I finished the shaft my self and had a diesal place do the other. Luckly there was no damage to the yoke. Outside of it been slow to pull the half shafts its not too bad, and dose not have to be done offen.
  8. You've gotten a bit deeper than I have at this point. What was with that buzzing?
  9. Mine was siliconed on. Was not too difficult. It is not overly complicated under that cover. Make sure you make marks in order to put things back to "normal" or you will start chaseing your tail. Hummm that screw usually has a cap on it, atleat all mine did. I dont believe that is one that should be ajusted. (If I remember correctly from a long time ago.)
  10. Though this dose not completely fit your engine it will enlighten you greatly on how the fi system works on your car. Search efi bible. Read it and search some more on various compondants, this will allow us to maby give you a better answer.

  13. Hey Derek, my 82n/a and 83n/a have the neck down manifolds. My 83et dose not (junkyard engine). Also you may note the other compondants that is on your et that is not on the n/a. Personally I am still working on a way to scrap the old one. In the end mabey I will not, depends on what I learn as I go.   17. Crud left this hanging, sorry. On my 83 na the blue is on the + and black/white strip on the -. I also have two wires in procimity to the coil that are unused from the factory. Once again sorry.

  20. Probaly just the fan clutch. The idaler pullies up frount kinda just chrip, from my experence. Problem with your post is that you mentioned the whole engine, front and back, more specific information would be usefull.
  21. There are soooo many variables its silly. You will have to start trouble shooting useing the search button up top and come up with some reasonable ideas before you get much help.
  22. Ease up Red, even I was going to mention your capitalization. The whole HybridZ is about seious modifications and is geared towards people who have a greater understanding than even my self. I just took an intrest in helping you cause I kinda like you. Admins are equeal oppertunity offenders, they are here to enforce the rules and keep the peace, they have gotten on even old members. They are a great lot of guys! I would edit out that last two sentaces and tough it out. Peace. Congrates again.
