  1. Hmmm, any walk throughs on this. I have a buddy with a 2+2zx and he really wants coilovers.
  2. I had this problem too. Until a "friend" of mine moved my car while my wife and I were in the movie theater one night and didn't bother to tell me until after the cops were there taking a report. The cop asked if anyone else had keys the car and I said no....But, wait let me check something real quick... Glad he got a good laugh out of it, I'm still pissed about it. But, it prompted me to very quickly change all my locking cylinders out with ones out of a parts car that had good locks. Now I can open all my doors and hatch with the same key as the ignition. And this one does come out while running, but doesn't turn over with any key anymore.
  3. Not entirely true. To use the R200 out of the turbo he'd need to change the pinion flange and half shafts, but otherwise, yes that will work. Side note, those 4 speeds are stout little trannies. The one in my 77 has been beat to hell and still shifts like it's brand new...
  4. That would probably work in this case, however I've seen some batteries so dead they will pull any charge coming from the other vehicle and still won't start.
  5. This sounds like a dead battery. One or more cells in it have gone kaput. Might as well replace the battery cables while you're in there though. It's always good to have nice set in.
  6. Yeah no kidding, I've got one of those machines in my closet. Doesn't every?
  7. The PCV system is designed to evacuate acidic gasses and vapors out of the crankcase. Without some kind of draw (as has been covered in the later posts here i.e. vacuum) to pull it out the gasses will mostly stay put, just running a little filter won't cut it. Those gasses if left in the engine will contaminate the oil very quickly and produce all kinds of deposits and eat away at the internal components of your engine. You'll end up with pitted bearings, quickly worn seals, misshapen oil galleries and just all around havoc in the engine. Gotta get the acidic garbage out as efficiently as possible.
  8. Don't disconnect your PCV. It's there for a reason. How long do you want your engine to last? You might get a couple years out of it without the PCV, but then you're looking at replacing everything internally.
  9. 8500 rpm???Damn on a stock engine it could have busted ring lands at those rpms. Sounds like it's time for a rebuild. My car just turned over 216k, but I'd never run it past 5200 rpm. No point and it's just not worth the risk. And as for a throttle cable sticking, there isn't one on these. Clean the throttle linkage out and lube it up real good so you don't have this problem.
  10. An alignment shop open on a Sunday??? I don't think that's possible even in LA.
  11. I took a benadryl once. Made me wnat to sleep the rest of the day so I'll never take one of those again.
  12. Ok so you detuned it some. So next time instead of beating him by a mile it'll only be half a mile...lol
  13. Sounds like it's running rich to me. Check fuel pressure, change the cap and rotor button, pull your plugs and see what color they are, pull the fuel rail and turn the key to kick on the pump (don't start), look for leaking injectors or cold start valve.
  14. No, it has nothing to do with a turbo. Your engine has one trust me.
  15. Search for BCDD (Boost Controlled Deceleration Device
  16. Ok I have it figured out, but not a solution. It's running lean under load in the upper RPM. I richened the AFM up and it stopped clattering in the upper RPM, but it started fouling the plugs at idle and cruise. Now if I could just find a happy medium.
  17. Wow....That's just...Wow....Yeah....
  18. This is it's current state. After I pull all the locking cylinders it's going to the scrap yard.
  19. Nope, that's covered in the forums extensively. I used an exacto knife and cut the hose as far down into the crimp as I could then pulled it out with a pair of needle nose pliers. Throw away the metal piece and use fuel injection hose clamps instead. Don't use the regular hose clamps with the slots, use actual FI clamps. They're solid like the factory ones.
  20. I use my AC in my 81. I just changed the fittings, blew the lines out and filled it with R134A. Still works and it doesn't seem to have lost any over the winter.
  21. It's an NA so no boost. Although that doesn't mean it's not pinging. I'm going to pull the plugs again and see where I'm at mixture wise. I richened it up a lot last time because it was so lean the plugs were white all over and there was some kind of debris stuck to them almost like what happens when you get coolant in the cylinders, but I know there's no coolant getting in there, compression is good oil is clean and so is the radiator. It was just that lean. Anyhow, I'm going to look at the plugs again tonight and see where it's at.
  22. It's a nice start. I'm not a big fan of red either, but hey, you've got the seats so why worry about it right?
  23. Tony, I'm not one to argue with you, but pull me a picture of a ceramic coated piston where the coating has survived through more than just a couple passes down the drag strip. That would have to beone hell of a thick coating.
  24. Damn, had every intention of putting that in there, but yes I've done a valve adjustment, Didn't help.
