Would it be cool? Yes Is it worth it? No Unless you're doing all the work yourself, and your labor costs are now $0, there's better ways to spend your money.

What kinda racing are you doing? What speeds are you coming down from where you're "fighting the car"? Is it all the time, or only at the beginning/end of a series?

To me, those would look better on a 510. But I also associate those with 4 spoke wheels.

I don't think some ZG flares on any 240 would net you 30k... ...but an L28et swap, an R200 (non-LSD of course), a fixed dash board, a new carpet kit, your most basic lower springs and strutts, ZG flares, Type 1 front and BRE spoiler, and of course, a really good paint job might get you that. If you know how to apply paint and mask rust holes with Bondo, you can start making some good money of S30's presently.

That's a really tall engine. But it does have the oil sump in the back, so it could fit. It's a heavy engine though. As it doesn't get swapped into many other non-Jeeps, I couldn't find any dimensions online. Wanna be the first to do it? Would be torquey as hell if it worked.

I thought the Toyota 4x4 and 4Runner used the same brakes on certain years. Correct me if I'm wrong on that. S12W calipers right? Also, Flares look cool. So what if he doesn't need them. And the S30 should be at 911 level prices. It's an awesome looking car that is fun to drive. Pretty much the only 911's you can get for 20k though are terrible though. With sites like Petrolicious and Speedhunters featuring S30's more and more often, you're gonna have more people want them. Look at the AE86 market after that one cartoon came out. Good god.

I keep wondering where all these S30's are that have been modified better than this that are going for 15k? Yeah, it's not 100% perfect. To my knowledge there's only been about 1 S30 to date that's actually been 100% done "right" and it sold for $125k. There are SO many horribly modified S30's out there, or ones that are just rusting away to shambles, that to see one that's very nicely modified (albiet not perfect) people are finally appreciate it. This is a good thing for us. Also, is a Z only allowed to be good if it's a member on this site that posts it? Because it seems everyone loves to crap on any 240z that isn't owned by a HybridZ owner. Even then, I'm almost scared to post mine when I finish it. I'm gonna warn you, it won't be perfect.

I think you should really answer the question: Do I want flares on my car? Before you do anything. Because if that's what you wanna do, then do that. You can get wheel spacers for 50 bucks if the slight gap is bugging you and you don't feel like getting new wheels again (of course right now your wheels are practically new and have no curb rash and would be easier to clear to re-sell...) If you're not going to flare the car, then I'd look into rolling your fender a bit and more than likely getting new springs...or losing 140 lbs.

I saw that ad when I was randomly cruising other cities CL for 240z stuff. That's the niceset one for sale on the west coast if you want a restomod. Also, I don't think 23k is too high. It's the ONLY one for sale right now that isn't a hunk of crap that I could find. There's some other ones that are very nice and very original...but they're even more expensive and don't have the appeal to me that this one does. On the supply side, he's currently in a market of one. You can try and talk him down as everything is negotible, but I wouldn't even consider an offer of 15k. I'd personally tell that person where they can put that offer and not talk to them again. Again, I'd find the price of everything you'd want to change with the car. Seats, belts, whatever, and see if you can get some of that cost taken off.

You lost me here. I don't think this is correct. If I take a fan, and have it blow one direction, then turn it another direction, it's still blowing the same amount.

So offer him 9k for it, and tell him it'll cost you 500 to get it back to LA. If the car sucks, then go spend a weekend in Vegas so the trip out there isn't for nothing.

Find all the parts you're gonna need to replace on this car to get it running and in a condition that you can live with. Then add up all the parts you're gonna need to get it to exactly where you want it to be. Assume the car now has all those parts on it and it's great working order. How much would you pay for THAT car? Subtract your parts total from the value of your theoretical completed car, and see how close you are to the price of what he's selling it for. If it's less, offer him less. If it's over or the same, buy it. That's a non-running car though. With an older heavy engine in it and an older 5 speed transmission. I personally wouldn't give him 9500 for it. But that's just me.

A few words on center of gravity. You want the CG of the car to be in line (or as close as you can reasonably estimate) to the rotation axis of your rotisserie. Putting the rotation axis above the CG makes it harder to flip over, and then the car will want to flip itself backover when you do finally turn it over. Putting the rotation axis below the CG makes the car constantly want to flip over on its own. I'm not 100% sure how much that applies to those 90 degree only rotissary like the ones made out of wood on this thread, but if you're going to make one out of two engine stands (like lots of people do), keep that in mind.
