  1. Ok, but what you're talking about doing is creating this The only difference is you want to use WRX coilovers and a Mustang diff. While you may think it is overpriced, they've already done all the engineering work to make sure it's going to fit correctly, and also do all the manufacturing of the custom parts as well. I've no doubt that you could create something for yourself for cheaper, but you're still going to have to design all those parts, and then create them, and that will take a lot of time and money and access to tools that the vast majority of people don't have. If you were to sell these parts, I'd expect you'd be charging similar margins for them as well, because people WILL pay it. I'm excited for you to bring something new to the market, but you don't have to crap on other companies work.
  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_RB_engine#RB30DE Here ya go.
  3. This is really the end of the thread right here. You either really want the 2JZ, and are willing to pay more for it, and have it take longer, or you don't, and just finish with the Ford swap that you already started. We can't tell you what you want.
  4. Project creep is a bitch. Stick with your original plan. Use the V8.
  5. The paint on your car looks gorgeous. You ever consider painting your front air dam?
  6. I bought the Silvermine ones, which from what I can tell, were the first generation of design that John made. While my car isn't running yet, they poped right into my diff with no issue. Can't comment on Futofab ones.
  7. Techno Toy Tuning did exactly this but used Q45 or Z32 diff, CVs, axles, and brakes. Very cool to have more options out there.
  8. So would you be fabricating a custom knuckle that the S30 transverse link, the Subaru Strut, and the Mustang Hub and brakes can all bolt to?
  9. I've never seen that middle section, but they do sell the lower valance and upper hatch trim piece new http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02o04b/30-7240 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02o04b/30-7291
  10. If you're just putting on a 280z longnose R200, then you don't actually need the companion flange and stub axle. However, as it is stronger than the 240z stub axle, if you're planning on boosting power at all, it wouldn't be a terrible upgrade to do. As far as rear brakes go, if you're upgrading rear brakes to disk brakes, then it doesn't matter if you change the stub axle and companion flange. They don't affect the rear rotor or mounting surface. Here is an example that shows that the 240z,260z,&280z all use the same rear brake upgrade. http://www.silverminemotors.com/datsun/datsun-280z/brake-upgrades/stage-4-rear-big-brake-kit I would recommend reading a lot more, multiple times, most of the stick threads, as well as just looking at the rear end of your car to see what all the parts are actually doing. There is a wealth of information on this site. Just keep searching.
  11. Ok well lets get back on topic. A Q45 doesn't have a Longnose R200. It has a short nose R200, and is completely different. Are you going to install a Longnose R200 (which are commonly found in the 280z) or a shortnose R200 (which are commonly found in the Q45)? Or are you talking about getting the Longnose R200 out of a Z31, which uses CV axles and has an LSD equipped?
  12. Totally depends on how you're planning on connecting the short nose R200 (Q45 diff) to the S30 chassis. If you're going to get the full Techno Toy Tuning package, then yes, your brakes and pretty much everything on the rear end will be changed. However, if you're planning on doing something else... I guess you could get some kind of custom mount to mount the R200 to the chassis, then get some sort of custom adapter to bolt your axles to the diff output flanges. That way you'd still be using the same axles and hubs. I'm not sure anyone sells those parts though. Also, if you're not sure what is part is what, power goes from the engine to the tires in this order Engine>>>Transmission>>>Driveshaft>>>Diff input flange>>>Diff gears>>>Diff Output Flange>>>Axles>>>Companion Flange>>>Stub Axle>>>Tires.
  13. Check out "Camaro fuel tank in 240z" while you're doing research. The tank out of an LS equipped Camaro has a pretty solid fuel pump already in it and has a flat top. It's been retrofitted into an S30 chassis before as well.
  14. Ecoboost is just Fords slick marketing term for "turbocharged". Which engines are having these problems? Ford has many turbo engines. Also, posting in all caps is for 8 year olds and 70 year olds. Please refrain from doing so.
  15. https://www.amazon.com/TOTAL-PCS-ROTA-17X8-5-17X9-5/dp/B00UKG1DXM/ref=sr_1_14?m=A3MX7QJZ2XX0S1&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1495660466&sr=1-14&keywords=RKR+17x8.5 Some nice 17" ones with -10 offset up front and -20 out back.
  16. There's nothing wrong with this S30. It's got damn every part that we all like to put on our cars that is currently offered by vendors out there right now. ...But there's nothing overly special about it either, other than it's well done. We have members on this forum that have more unique and interesting cars that were made on a much smaller budget in a 2 car garage than this thing.
  17. Did you factor in transmission weight too? I know that T56 isn't exactly light. I'd go with whichever one will be cheaper. Factor in whichever one you can re-sell easiest and for the most amount of money too.
  18. http://www.silverminemotors.com/datsun/datsun-240z/brake-kit-individual-parts/rear-disk-conversion-brake-bracket-for-240z-260z-280z Cheapest I could find for just the brackets. Of course yeah, you could find a 82-85 Maxima in a Pick-N-Pull or something and yank the rear caliper brackets, but they're a pain in the ass to get off. And then you have to machine out the center hole to fit over the 240z hub.
  19. You definitely have the only one of those in the world. How much wider is your front track width then the rear?
  20. In college we welded the tube frame and just about everything for SAE Baja with a setup real similar to this one https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/tls/d/miller-tig-welder-high/6317026756.html
  21. Very neat! Any reason you didn't use the Taurus fan like lots of people do?
