  1. I looked into that a lot, but there's hardly any aftermarket for that car. It'd all have to be custom grinds and stuff. Next will be a turbo LS motor. It's relatively cheap compared to the VH, even the VG.
  2. 225/50 on 16x8-0. Rears rub a bit on bumps, really bad on turns. Tokico lowering springs, stock everything else.
  3. SCCA events this month (if you know of others, let me know!). I plan on going to the next three, at least. Bring your LS1Z? I'd love to see that. 23rd: http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.advert/uidEvent/4B9E0D69-A701-732C-090C637C3995BFDA#.UT4YLdEjru8 If my Z is whack (bad bearing instead of bad lifter, for example), I will take my DD Focus instead. Also my fuel pump stuff needs work. Oh, and my tires still rub on hard turns. But, driver says he "should" be here tomorrow, the 12th. Which gives me quite a bit of time to get it ready, if I don't need to order any parts, anyway. Anyone in the NJ area "bend" fenders? I don't think it needs a complete roll, and I don't want that "rolled look".
  4. Ah hahahaha. Keys are in TX as well. Actually... not anymore... Yup. But I feel a bit better now since, as of the 8th, it's on it's way to me. Found a cheap enclosed shipper, which hopefully will not lose my car and stop here in NJ around the 14th. It was interesting trying to coordinate between 2 somewhat unreliable people to just be in one place at one time, but it worked out: Which leaves me a week to get it ship shape for 3 rounds of autocross starting on the 23rd...
  5. Just had it picked up in TX for shipment to me. Started on the first try after sitting for 4 months, amazingly.
  6. I've got some XXR 16x8-0, and Bridgestone 225/50s as well. If I ever get my car here, I was going to see if I could shorten and narrow the bearing caps a bit to fit the XXR caps on.
  7. VG30ET without intercooler: 160-210 F With intercooler (pretty big): 80-120 That's in 90+ degree F Texas heat.
  8. Oh yes, fuel cut won't build much of anything. It will just act like a rev limiter. It will also be way gentler on your O2 sensor(s) and cats, if any. For maximum flammage, 0 degrees or less timing BTDC, spark cut, and the highest RPM you want to launch at.
  9. There's lots of plugging and lots of playing.
  10. Fixed in more than one way, it seems.
  11. Yup. Don't get any tickets when it's expired, or otherwise keep it off public roads and you'll be fine. If they ask you to pay back-registration just say it wasn't operational.
  12. You have to "tune" it right. I can build 5psi or so with it. But I have the RPM limited to 3k or something a little low.
  13. I did my taxes last month, after moving to NJ (from TX). This included being introduced to NJ state income tax forms. They also had a few lines on there about, "listing everything I bought out of state over X amount, and brought in to the state". Using the income tax forms to enforce use tax is interesting. Oh, what do you know. I never bought anything on the internet or from out of state. I really must like NJ.
  14. Yeah, you can't handle us... oh wait I'm in Jersey now. Sigh...
  15. I had it hooked up in my Z31, and I have it in my S30 (same motor, VG30ET). I forgot to implement the though! In my Z31, however, it was like this: I used the going low circuit. I decided to use this since the clutch switch I had closed when the clutch was engaged (pedal pushed in). Other people have used the clutch switch at the bottom of the pedal's travel. I didn't see this as working optimally for anything other than launching. Since I wanted flat-shift as well, I chose to implement this method. However, in my case the Z31 has a normally open clutch switch installed (for cruise control, I believe), I replaced it with a normally closed one (from the brake pedal, to trigger the brake lights). I wanted the launch control to be activated as soon as the clutch was pressed in. So, since the switch closes when you press the pedal, the going low circuit switches the pin on MS2. JS11 is what I used, but you can use several, IIRC. You just have to check against that chart to make sure you don't rule yourself out of using other features in the future. JS10 looks good in your case. I implemented all of this in the proto area, and brought out a single wire from the case to the clutch switch. I attached the other end of the clutch switch to the ground. Once you do that, let the fun begin. I'll admit, I mainly did it for the flames to which I so far have been unable to produce. Keep in mind it causes really high EGTs and can burn up turbos and will definitely burn up catalytic converters.
  16. I've always wanted to see a large, low pressure turbine with a hot cam make lots of power. Do the turbo 2jz people do that?
  17. I got a new job and moved to NJ. Haven't had time or money to get the car shipped, it's still sitting in our garage in TX. Stupid shippers want twice as much to ship it enclosed (via flat lift vs ramp) since it's so low. But, I'm looking to get it here before April, with enough lead time to diagnose whatever problem it has (and possibly swap engines) to go to a track event in early April. I'm really starting to itch. I've tried GT5 (already beat, no inclination to do any of the endurance races), working on my daily (boring), and other pursuits without getting my fix.
  18. I've been very happy with Hagerty. They insure our twin-turbo Z32 and my fugly S30. Don't see why you would ever go without agreed-value insurance on a Z.
