  1. The surrounding sheetmetal is closer. That's what makes it harder. I've never had to remove on while in the car and don't envy anyone who has to.
  2. Wow that's a big difference!! I had no idea that 5800' would make that big of a difference.
  3. I had one installed into a 2+2 ZX once and it was great for awhile I never noticed any loss of body strength. What did eventually happen was it started to leak and was hotter than H*ll sitting under it during the summer. The glass just fries you during the day. It was enjoyable during the spring and fall to take it out and drive.
  4. Sorry, But, I read today while waiting at the dentist office (forever) that the Z06 does 12.5's stock. I can't remember the magazine at the moment.
  5. Sorry to hear about the bent pan. It's amazing how hard those things are to get off the bottom of the block after time and heat have worked there magic on them. I thought I might actually find a Diamond in between the gasket and the block. J/K Anyway, for future refrence Autozone sells a metric adapter kit for the sending units.
  6. You can't just use an adapter screwed into the stock location? Thats what I did when installing an Autometer electric oil temp gauge. Seems to work fine after a year of use.
  7. Thanks for the info. I bought some epoxy today and as soon as I get around to tring it I'll let ya know.
  8. I had a 79 ZX and would have proubly killed myself and someone else if the car had been more powerful. The lack of a good power to weight ratio is the only thing that saved me. My opioin is to wait and see, try to sell the car to someone who can handle it and progress forward with the project.
  9. Hey Mike, All I really can say is that we're here and in time wil heal all even if it doesn't seem like it will.
  10. I guess I'll be the first to say it "Do a search" Really all the information you need is here in the turbo/Supercharger forum and has been discussed many times and at great length. There are seveal options out there ranging from mild to very wild.
  11. Last year I made a adapter harness that goes from my old 280zx Air flow meter to the newer one used by the JWT computer. I sealed it up as best as possible but, it could still be done better. What it needs is some of the epoxy that is used in some automotive electrical computer stuff and several other things. Many times I've seen it in a green color on the back of a part. Does anyone know where I can find some or if regular epoxy will work. I've asked around at several places but, I always get a dumb look or the basic blank stare.
  12. Frank280zx So what happened to eurozx? Do you have any pics of his tail set-up? I wanted to explaing how it looked to a friend.
  13. I'm instreasted but, hopefully it will be awhile before I get into "what H.G. do I want to use." I don't have any new or used gaskets laying around either. Sorry I could really be of any help.
  14. Don't know about the flake part but, the shipping was crazy. Not quite as bad coming to me but, you couldn't be to far from him. It was still the best price I found. Hopefully it's not the size of a small match box. I should be gettingmine early next week. Who knows when I'll get a chance to get it all mounted right and tested me to see if I can find any real results.
  15. I guess I should have been more specific. Supercharger belt and crank pully assembly.. Is that better?
  16. Search the turbo/supercharger section and read as many of the post in that section as you can. There is a ton of great information on this site that has been logged in to the archieves.
  17. That's a great looking motor and I'm curious as to how it's going to turn out. One thing I have a question about is how close is that crank pully going to be to the radiator. In my ZX there's not that much room. Is there more room in the earlier cars?
  18. I think thats a little high of an estimate of the price of the set-up. I bought mine used and payed 800 for it. Worth every penny. A new one is in the 2000.00 range I believe. No dought it wouldn't fix your current proublem but, it would help in the drivability and overall power output would be much greater than the stock set-up can muster. No, it's not the best compter on the market but, most of us can have it installed in under an hour and it'll get 95% of the power out of your setup. Changes such as turbos and exhaust don't require retuning.
  19. Steve does have a nice car! I haven't seen him since he left Alamo Autosports.
  20. I like that!! I nice short runnner intake would really help wake this thing up on the top end. Torque would sure be down in the lower RPM's If this was a dedicated track car I think it would make a good combination. I think one of the real issues with not trying this engine is that none of us want to lower our displacement. There's just something to be said about having a stroker engine. A stroker with turbo just sounds good to me.
  21. My plan is to run everything into a catch can and then to the front of the turbo intake pipe behind the MAF. I made mine out of metal so it souldn't be to hard to weld in some new fittings. This would still serve the purpase of venting everything. While under full power it will pull a vacuum from the crankcase which has been proven to help make power. This is a small amount of power but, I'll take anything I can get that if basically free power.
  22. Good point!! This can make all the differnce in the world when shopping for parts.
  23. Richard, Ask your friend " If there's no replacement for displacement then how can a 2.8 N/A go from 15's or 16's in the 1/4 to 12's with the addition of a turbo?" Anyway tell him to come by and I'll show him his no replacement theory is flawed.
