  1. The bar that runs through the spider gears can also hit slide out and hit the pinion when it it worn out enough. It will do kinda the same thing. I would just drop the diff at this point. A repetative "clunk" should not be a mount. Pull it out and see what is going on. Will it make the sound while jacked up engine running and wheels spinnning with no load?
  2. Smoke is solid particles. Cat does not stop them. You cant burn smoke, it has already burnt. 99% of the cars going down the road burning oil have working cats. Grandma had a 93 lebaron with that shitty 3.0 by mitsubishi. Smoked like CRAZY, passed emissions with flying colors. No body ever thought it would pass but it did every time lol.
  3. What do you mean "really slowly in forward"? Is it a repetitave clunk-clunk-clunk, or just from a stop a single clunk? There is a bar that carries two of the spider gears and it tends to wear an oval shaped hole on its own mount inside the diff. That is usually the first thing to go on these diffs. If you are seriously suspecting the mounts do this. Notice!!! Do this VERY carefully!!! Jack up the rear of the car and place blocks in front of the front tires. Used jack stands!! Now pull the parking brake back as far as you can. Get someone to place the car in gear while running and gently release the clutch applying power to the drivetrain in both forward and reverse. While they do this Look at the mounts and look for movement that would be out of the norm. Good luck and dont die!! Be carefull!!

  5. I would say for over 500whp your gotting dangeerouslly close to that $15000 mark. A saying I heard, "It will take 10% of your budget to make 90% of your power. The last 10% of your power will cost you 90% of your budget".
  6. Spider gears in the diff then are probably trash. Do you get a little clunk going into second sometimes too?
  7. going off your sig you are shoooting for 300hp and you built a forged short block. Yikes...for someone with no money sure seams you have alot of extra.
  8. ^^^Hum...I ran a 13.8 on stock turbo swap and stock boost no intercooler. Of course my car is 2460Lbs with full tank and 220lb driver.
  9. 5th gear is a bit weak. I dont think a LSD wou affect the 1/4 mile time at all. Only think it would help with is the burn out. I do thee burnout and once the tires dry and get a little tamp on them one will sometimes hook and stop spinning, leaving one tire a bit cool. I realy just need a bit more tire. My 60' is 1.76 and that is bogging down horribly. It will bog or burn the tires off right now. Once I am rocking the 235-60-15s I expect to see 11.50s pretty easy. Then MOARE BOOOOST!! One more vid. Nope, still one more. Car was not quite running right in this one. Only 15psi.

  11. Its a .020 over bore on a L28e. Block is early 280zx, head is p90, head gasket is felpro. I run just cheapo gear oil in my tranny. I ran a factory turbo up to 200whp and 275wtq. Center force DF till about 250whp and 315wtq. Now runing the clutch below.   14. Um..that does not add up by the way. -half of 4 = 2cyl .......................> = 4cyl -cyl 1 & 4 = 2cyl Besides it was 3 heads. Front two-Middle two-Rear two. Look closely, you can see the sections.
  15. Running a 215-60-14 BFG Drag Radial @ 14psi Open 3.7 or 3.9 r200. Dont remember because I went through like 4 of them in like a month or so. Kept destroying the spider gears. There is realy NOTHING special about this car. I have wondered lately why I dont see more of you guys with 11's. Basicaly its a stock l28 with a big turbo. I run megasquirt to tune. Have a 60mm TB, BIG intercooler and open exhaust. Obviously I have the suporting mods like fuel pump and injectors. I do have a lonewolf large runner intake manifold being built as this is typed though. I will be running 120lb/hr injectors and dual walbro 255s once I get the manifold back. Only runing 17psi boost right now. Going to run 22psi at least once on the dyno before I install the LW manifold. Then back to the dyno!!!!!!!!!(and track)

  18. One of my buddys friends is currently building a tt sbc miata. Car is built, tube chassis and such. Huge slicks. Dove the thing across town with no tags or anything to get the cage and paint done. Said it cost him like $1000 in fuel alone! I was like WTF? Oh yeah, just over 3,000 hp. Suposed to run 6's.
  19. If there was no radar there was no speeding. Unless they pace you wich is still up for argument. If you guess I was going 120mph and I was realy doing 115mph then I was not doing the crime you charged me with. Case dismised. At least thats how it goes sometimes.
