  1. Cleaning up lots of odds and ends today. Nothing glamorous, but progress nonetheless. -Finished plumbing up my PCV system (since I relocated my vavle forward on the intake, I had to shorten and adapt the 280z OEM PCV hose) -Fit up the exhaust and began taking measurements for hanger locations -Began figuring out where I want my blow off valve to be, along with my GM IAT sensor Oh, and some better pictures of the Miata gauge pod, and where it will be.I can't wait until I'm surrounded by all those gauges lit up! I'm getting pretty excited.
  2. I plan on running a Greddy RZ. But that flange is universal for any Greddy BOV. Flanges vary depending on what BOV you want to use, so order accordingly.
  3. I have yet to find a clean looking 45 degree angled piece of pipe with a blow off flange welded to it. On my setup, I am welding one of these to my intercooler piping about 2 inches from the throttle body http://www.ebay.com/itm/GReddy-Type-S-R-RS-RZ-Weld-On-Flange-Kit-Aluminum-/200858557563?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec41a5c7b&vxp=mtr Pretty sure it's going to have to be DIY if you want to customize the location. EDIT: heres a mock up of that flange on my intercooler piping.
  4. Transmission installed. Solo I might add. Also have been playing around with the first gen Mazda Miata/MX-5 A pillar 2 gauge pod. Figuring out what will need to be cut. NOTE: I dropped my damn boost gauge (like 4 months ago) about 30 seconds after taking it out of the box. Darn thing popped right out of its carboard holder, and flew about 5 feet away on solid cement. So I think she may be beat, as indicated by the 4 pounds of perpetual boost I'm running. I thought about trying it anyway, and maybe it'll reset with some vacuum run through it, but I'm not going to waste the time. I'm probably just going to replace it, and call it done.
  5. Do they take personal checks? if so, I'll take 2.
  6. Yep. Blast it. It's the only way to really be sure you got the rust inside the pits. But POR15 will encapsulate that pretty easy, even if you did miss something. Another product I'd recommend. Hammerite. It has glass in it, so it becomes extremely hard when it cures completely. This is what I used on my floors, it looks exactly the same way it did when I painted it a year ago. Zero change. Absolutely on par with POR15.
  7. Transmission!!! 1983 N/A 5 speed courtesy of Pat, (pcakes55) here on Hybrid. Thanks again, Buddy! Primed and Painted my transmission mount Throw out bearing install: Since I am running a 240 mm flywheel this is the combination of parts I am using with my ACT clutch kit. -240mm 2+2 flywheel -280zx turbo/2+2 throw out bearing collar (see picture for product number) -ACT clutch disc -ACT Heavy duty Pressure plate -ACT Throw out bearing -73 N/A clutch fork Then I swapped the reverse sensor, and made sure the fill plug opens easily. Now she's ready to go back in the car.
  8. Sounds wicked fun to me! You're definitely on the right track.
  9. That, I think, is the most satisfying part! Nothing beats saying "Thanks, I built it." when someone compliments you on the car. Really excited for your SR swap!
  10. Yes, you can relocate the OEM CHT sensor in the thermostat housing, if you dont have a p90 head. I extended the CHT wires about 3 feet on my stock zxt harness, and that put the pigtails right where they need to be.
  11. Radiator arrived yesterday. More miscellaneous parts are expected within the week. Champion three row. Installed to assure fitment. Until next time...
  12. Oh no! That's really too bad David, sorry to hear. I'm glad you're all right though. That Focus was a nice ride. Sucks to see it go... But at least you've sourced a replacement.
  13. Man, this car has "too nice to drive" written ALL over it. Amazing work! Very impressed.
  14. Thanks guys, Yeah I had considered the KA swap, and if a nice transmission popped up I probably would have jumped on it, but I'm going to pull the trigger on Pcakes55 rebuilt 83 n/a 5 speed. This way it works out well so I can swap the transmission with ease, and I can focus big time on Megasquirt. Who knows? Maybe this thing will actually be running sooner than I think! Also, I'm definitely going to pick up an Eastwood Hot Coat Powdercoating kit, and I'll do my intercooler pipes myself. I'm pretty excited to try it out. Just need to source out a junk oven to stick in my basement. So, in the meantime, while I wait for parts, I have been adjusting the fitment of my intercooler piping. It had to be shortened quite a bit. It's pretty close now, but I still have another inch or so of adjustment to play with. I just need to wait for my radiator to arrive before I make the final fitment. Then I fab the intercooler mounting brackets. Other than that, not much to report. Here are a couple of pictures of the shortened and adjusted piping. Note the improved fitment. (ignore the ugly blue couplers)
  15. Spent 1000 dollars getting my car from Southern Cali to Northern NY Worth EVERY penny.
  16. I'm ordering the Derale 14" puller fan, with the thermostat harness for my champion. It's like 125 bucks... 150 if you shop MSA
  17. Man, those numbers seem really fun! Awesome! Sounds great too
  18. Sure is clean. Wow. Not sure if I'm digging all the orange, gauges included. But there has been some serious time and love put into this ride. I hope they get the asking price, but I also have my doubts.
  19. Thanks David! And yep! I'll definitely be there. Whether or not the car is ready is always the question.... And as of now, that is my intention. But we all know what happens to the best intentions. It all depends on if I can keep my pace working on the car. One of my biggest hang ups is trying to source a 5 speed. So if you know of anyone with anything resembling a 5 speed. Let me know, as I currently don't have a transmission for the car. Then megasquirt begins, and I expect to have a few hang ups there as well, but there's nothing I want more than to show up at the show in the car. either way, I'll be there!
