  1. I noticed that Autozone has a gear reduction starter for $69.00 with $20 core. Question is: why is it better than a standard starter? I see that Jegs, etc sell for domestic hi-per cars. So, is it better and would it last longer? It seems the latest batch of re-man are not too good. Thanks
  2. LAST TIME: Like you said: " Wisdom is knowing what to overlook" FORGET IT AND GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE. YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF THINGS LATER IN LIFE TO REALLY GET EXCITED ABOUT. LIKE YOUR DAUGHTER'S FIRST PERIOD OR FIRST DATE!!!!!
  3. All of the above. I have these on my '78 when I bought my car. They provide ok light but they VERY poor quality. I woundn't pay $5.00 each including shipping. The studs (that set the lamp into the bucket are not accurate) Probably made by Chinese slave prisoners! (just kidding)
  4. YOU pay your girl friend, because it is not her fault and she trusted you and get a new BEST friend. Forget about it. It is a life learning experience. Two absolutes in life (in my life): 1. NEVER rent to friends or family. 2. NEVER hire friends or family. 3. NEVER lend money to friends or family (Whoops, there's 3)
  5. We already have our own team (Healthy Connections Team), but I'll kick in $25.00 to you.
  6. I had the exact same problem. Putting a hose on the "L" is the fix. Lub-ing the all of door mechanicals woundn't hurt either.
  7. You're not stupid. Just crazy, like about 99% of the members, including me.
  8. Referral from someone off ZCAR.COM. Probably another hybridz member
  9. I am been trying to buy a Holset turbo and bidded on a HX35 for a $100 plus $30 shipping. The sellers name was Kayla*Marie. Just before I went on a business trip, I received an email from rameus90300@gmail.com that said ebay told him that even though the auction was not over, I was declared the "default winner" and was I still interested. Since I have never sold anything, I told him sure and emailed my office address. When I checked my email a couple days later. I had received 3 almost identical emails from this person with an address in Romania. The original seller in the ebay ad noted that he/she is in Minnesota! Also, the email has the ebay logo, except in the body of the email the "e" and "bay" are slightly spaced too far apart. I have emailed ebay with my suspicions. Also, I got a "you did not win" notice as the turbo sold for $240.00 plus shipping. Needless to say, nothing is going to happen with this auction.
  10. Congratulations.. I hope this entry into entrepreneurship takes you far. Anyway, count me in for one.
  11. Before sending for the locksmith, etc., take the door panel off and check the lock. May just need oiling/grease. My recently purchased '78, was apparently cleaned inside the door during the resto job but nobody brothered to grease the lock and window mechanisms. After spraying with lubricant and then adding grease, they both lock and open from the outside.
  12. I have searched for this repair and I don't know if there is one except to replace it. The turn signals work in my '78Z but don't turn off when you straighten out. I thought I read somewhere about this repair but I can't find the post. I have jiggled it and sprayed WD-40 but this hasn't done anything. Is there a repair?
  13. Thanks, I did not know that such resources exist. John
  14. My tach in my '78Z doesn't work and I may have found the problem. Near the coil I found two wires that are disconnected. I don't have a '78 manual. One wire is white with black stripe and the other is blue. Are any of these tach wires? The previous owner replaced the fuel injection with SU carbs if that makes any difference. Thanks for any help
  15. The previous owner of my 280Z spent considerable money and time replacing all of weatherstrippping. The only problem I see is the rear hatch weatherstripping on the futherest outiside of the hatch. The weatherstripping is flattened, especially on top of the hatch. Is there an good way to re-curl the wetherstipping (make it curl up and out). I have tried to tapping it with duct tape (maybe I did not wait long enough). I did a search, but no long seems to have a solution todate.
  16. Is it fiberglass or flexable urethane? Where did you get it and how much did you pay.

    New GTR

The new GTR is scheduled (according to the magazines) to be on sale in late 2007 or early 2008. It looks like a Z to me. The anticipated sale price is $70K or so. Anyone have any thoughts on this? 70K? Looks like a Z? If the GTR goes on sale, what will the Z look like and what options will it have in relationship to the GTR? Will the Z be relegated to #2? I traded my '04 350Z in for my wife's '06 G35 Sedan because I just didn't see the performance I expected (not to mention the tire problems and the crappy attention from Peacock Nissan in Houston- I trash them as much as possible) Anyway, I am looking for other opinions, before I spend 70K.
  18. I put a L28 into a '84 Maxima with 5sp and it ran great. As I remember, the mechanic had to change the pan, modify the pickup and re-indexed the dip stick. I didn't pay much to have this done, so it could not have been a big deal. I lent the car to an employee and he wreaked it, so gave him the title and took it out of his pay. I do miss it because I could put all kinds of stuff in the back seat.
  19. I glad I not the only person that had problems with Holley carb, though I don't have any anwers.
  20. I sorry, but I don't think this is PC. Pics of half naked women! I thought the Canadian's were more civilized! Man! I would think you were from Texas! Better take them down!
  21. "110" octane gas? Tom told me I could run "leaded" regular with the lowered compression, less than 15lb boost and water injection. I never did (ran premium) but do you really need 110 octaine? Has got to cost a fortune to fill the tank. Anyway, congratuations. I sent my Z to a general mechanic check brakes and replace booster. Brakes haven't been ck'ed since 1996.
  22. My wife saw a credit card charge to Victoria British and confused it with Victoria's Secret. She wanted to know who I was buying lingerie for. I had to show her the catalog before she believed me. The company is OK and most of their stuff is also.
