  1. I agree with this. In my business life, there have been many adversities. Had one company in Chap. 11, made as little as 12K/yr (self employed, when chain pharmacist was making 6 times as much), but I have learned from each and every episode and much better for it. (Start the violin) Stop. Good Luck to you and GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE AND CAREER!
  2. He probably stole or found the pallets from behind a business and off to a pallet company to sell it for about $15 each. Here in Houston, lots of illegals do this. Although, I have yet to see a Sentra carrying these, I set lots of pickups carrying 10-15 of these. They are usually hispanics. Hey, money is where you find it.
  3. We are in 2 diff. type of businesses. My people basically work 8:30 - 5:30 5 days a week. Yes, if they worked 70 hrs a week, hell, I woundn't care if they took 30 min breaks and took off occasionally. BUT, these are hrly employees. Hence, they need to be working except 2-15 min. breaks and 1 hr. lunch. Trust me, I have had employees for 30 yrs, most are good. I get rid of the rest. But don't mis-understand, I take VERY good care of my people. For small companies I offer, 90% paid medical/dental, flex. spending account, matching 401K, long term disability, vacation, better than industry average pay. Anyway, my point is the current crop of potential hires don't understand that a few min here and there amounts to a lot of lost work time. John
  4. Actually, it is a great ideal. Get it off the floor, hide it in the desk! Great decorating idea!
  5. I think, I will pass on this one. Thailand, no feedback, new seller. No Thanks. I'll save my $.01.
  6. In my businesses, it is an absolute no no and subject to immediate termination if I catch an employee using his/her computer for personal use and especially for internet surfing not to mention downloading or uploading files. If you (an employer) had to spend thousands of dollar cleaning either a terminal or server of a virus, you would understand. Employees waste hundreds of man hrs a yr surfing online. I provide 2 computers in a separate part of the office, where employees may surf during their lunch or break. I would block internet connection if I could, but our business requires it. Personally, I never had a problem with an employee having a business on the side as long as it does not interfere with my work. But honestly, do you have a cell phone that you answer continuously? Any calls from your clients? That could be a problem. My policy is when you are being paid by me, cell phone are turned off when you punch in. The only exceptions I have are outside sales, management and mothers with day care issues ( see, I do have a heart). If you check business type magazines, you will find that emails and internet surfing and cell phones are a big killer of time for most office bound employees. It was tough before these things became so prevalent to keep employees productive but it is much worse now. Sometimes, I feel that I am really a babysitter. That it, from an employer's point of view. Good luck. I think most members here are very smart and talented and you should not have a problem getting another job.

Thanks Mike, I just did some checking on Car-Parts.Com and the local bone yards want $600.00 each! I'm not on budget but wow. You got a heck of a deal. John

    Seat swap list

Hey 2003Z Which model 350Z came w/o electric controls. I thought they were all the same. The damn controls is one of reasons I traded it in for G35 Sedan. That and those f..ing front tires. Thanks

    Seat swap list

I think for this thread to be useful, we need to keep to swaps that actually have been completed with pics and fab info. I don't see any value in speculating what may fit. Just my opinion.
  10. I remember now about the Chevy theromostats. Has anyone checked out the "fail safe theromostat?" I guess when they fail they fail open. I just noticed this on the Autozone site. Wonder if they work.

    Deluge!

We had Katrina, but the worst thing was trying to get home after southwest Texas and LA. got on I-45 to go nowhere. Good luck!
  12. So what are you going to do, because I have done the 240SX brakes but not the Toyota swap AND I did have a flat and not only did the car not have a usable spare (I should have checked after I bought the car) but now you say the damn thing would not have fit anyway.

    Seat swap list

I am in the market for new seats, but after searching, I have decided to re-upholster the stock seats. It will cost more but since I don't have welder and not that good at fabing anyway, it will be less hassle for me. Plus no fit problems. It might be a good addition to someone's business to fab mounting brackets for a specific non-oem seat or a couple of specific non-oem seats.
  14. Where did you guys get a 160 deg. thermostat? I could only find a 180 at the usual places (Autozone, Oreilly's, Advance). The turbo got so hot that the paint bubbled.
  15. It won't matter. You lose. The inspection folks won't listen unless you get a really friendly inspector (wink, wink)
  16. General studies for the first 2 years and then decide. Unless things have changed you are not required to declare a major until your jr. or sr year. Lots of things will happen between the time you enter college until you graduate. Few students graduate with the major they started as freshman. Don't take courses that apply to a single major otherwise you may need to take extra courses toward a major you never intended to study. Personally, I started in a major in biology intending to be a cell biologist and ended up in pharmacy school. (University of Houston, BS, 1971) No regrets though. BS biologist at the time were making 8K/yr and pharmacist was making 12K. Now BS biologist are making $ 10.00-$15/hr and pharmacist are at $45-50/hr. Take your time and study, study, study! Good Luck
  17. Get someone else to fix the FI. I have had the Car-Tech manifold, similar to the Arizona Z product and think you are better with FI. Just my opinion.
  18. I dream of having all of my car projects finished.
  19. I bet it still not made in the U.S.A. although it is better quality.
  20. It is hard to know what is American (eg. all parts made & assembled in the U.S) these day. According to one of business mags (I think it was Forbes), the average Toyota has more "American" parts in it then the average Chevy by a large margin. I think it 70% for the Toyota to 55% for the Chevy. So accordingly we should buy Toyotas.
  21. Harbor Freight opened a retail store in Houston and last Sunday I purchased a few items, including a drill. When I went to check out the clerk asked if I wanted extended warranty. I replied that at $16.99 (18v drill), it was disposable. Keeping that in mind, I went a bought another one for back-up. All I can say is, " it drills!"
