  1. I've put an engine and trans in without a leveler, and with header/intake on. A leveler would make the job easier though, but it was WAY easier than pulling the engine/trans in my E30 which required a load leveler, and even then it was tight.
  2. So what kind of power did it end up making? And so I have this right, this motor has an 89mm bore, 83mm stroke, and standard valves? Did he weld up and reshape your combustion chambers or no? Where does it make peak power? How is it around town at ~3k rpm or less?
  3. Holy shit! Yeah dude, that's some serious rust. Never would have guessed either. This is one of the reasons I'm going to stick with what I have, which needs a good bit of work, versus getting another car, and risk discovering something like that. BTW, there's a fairly thick reinforcement piece in that area, that goes from where your rust is along the roof, and wraps down around the window opening. You can see it sandwiched in the seam there - the one the quarter window bolts to - if you look closely. Make sure the shop repairs that correctly, and doesn't just slap some sheet metal over it. I'm also just now noticing that you have no rain gutters. I'm guessing someone didn't do that correctly, and that's why you have rust there. Might want to strip the paint all along that section and see what the metal work they did looks like.
  4. Yep, those Cobra GT3 seats look damn good. How heavy are they? Looks like they're made from steel tubing, so I'm guessing not that light. They remind me a bit of these - http://www.classiccarseats.com/ - although these are made of (I believe) either FG or CF, and the price reflects that at over $1000 per seat. But if you want high quality, lightweight, period correct seats, I'd say that's your best bet. The GT3 seats look like a great option for less money though.
  5. Just found this channel. The project itself looks a little slow going, maybe it'll pickup speed, but I think the videos are well done, and definitely worth a watch. Thought I'd share. There's only five so far, but here they are:
  6. 30 degrees above outside temp with no heat is incredible! I don't think it gets nearly as cold here as it does there - save for a few very cold days, highs are generally above freezing in the winter. If my garage were that warm in winter, I would be so damned happy. Only thing I have to my benefit is that the exterior of the garage is 5" thick stone, which probably helps a little. It's my parents garage though, not mine, so if I want an insulated garage, I'll probably have to get my own.
  7. Pics are working now, save for a few. How big is your shop and how long does it take to heat it up with the stove? Our garage has a stove, which I tried to use last winter, but it did practically nothing. 900sqft or so, uninsulated, wood doors.
  8. Still can't see them. Photobucket went down tube years ago. Flickr and imgur seem to be the popular ones these days. And it would be really nice if we could simplify HybridZ's image posting/displaying system, because quite frankly, it sucks, and makes viewing/saving photos far more annoying than it needs to be.
  9. Welcome! Blue is your original color, but someone painted it red at some point. Where in NJ are you? Your plans for the car?
  10. I think you need a dealer license lol.
  11. How many Skylines is this now? Four?
  12. By any chance was this one in/near the pine barrens? I went to one maybe 8 years ago, and I was really surprised at how many Zs they had.
  13. Amazing to think people like that exist. Where in NJ are you? I bought a 280ZXT for $600 in 2008. Running, about 110k miles. Starting to think I got lucky. I just did a search on car-part.com (highly recommended), and found a grand total of nine 280ZXTs. NINE. Your best bet may be to keep a look out on CL for a ZXT parts car, or just turbo your NA L28. I guess they're getting hard to find. For the record though, $700 for complete low miles engine with harness I think is pretty fair. Maybe slightly on the high side, but I'd pay it.
  14. I went through your site. Your passenger side frame rail is certainly destroyed (!), but the driver's side looks good. Is it still in the car? If so, I'd go off of that.
  15. Yeah there was a good amount hiding under weatherstripping, inside panel seams, under paint, etc. It's kinda weird in that no one spot is really severe, save for the hatch sill panel, but there's a LOT of small spots, a number of which are in tricky areas. Funny, I actually bought it because it had less rust than the car I had. So much for that. We'll see how I feel about rust repair after I finish my current project.
  16. I swapped in my NA L28 and 5speed, did the R200 diff conversion with a Ron Tyler mount, put my spare dash in, bought a used wiring harness for it, and did actually get it running and driving. However, as I took it apart I also found a good deal of rust, some of which will be very difficult to fix, so it is now sitting in my barn while I figure out what to do with it. Decided to focus on my 280z instead which should be easier to fix. This pic is from a couple years ago.
  17. I've seen a few snaps of it on IG and I thought it looked good. I don't remember seeing the air dam with it, but I like the design and I'm looking forward to seeing it on the car.
  18. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/125888-replacement-inner-rocker-panels/
  19. What gives you that idea? I've never heard of anyone turning down a 260 just because it's a 260, and a 280 is no more collectible than a 260. They're just a bit uncommon being a one year model. If the body is in good shape, and it sounds like it is, it's worth money. Sell it, don't send it to be crushed.
  20. We had a thread on here about Datsun Fiberglass, and a few people who tried to do business with them. Don't bother.
