  1. Ive never used one on one of those motors but i do have one on my L28ET. But when i was researching i think i came across a forum on supramania.com about them using it on the 2jz. I believe they where using the bigger hx40 though as the hx35's and hy35's where running out of breath at high RPM's Id do a search on it though. I think i was searching for a holset oil restrictor on goggle and the thread popped up.
  2. the 88 SS version also had a viscous lsd in it
  3. Well i ordered Some magnecor wires. I hope that will help/fix my problem. What wires are you running phil?
  4. Just put a rubber cap on the vacuum port. On the note of the spacer adding torque. Im not going to say it works but i do know that on 2cycle dirt bikes you can change the torque/HP by moving the reed cage closer or farther away. The farther away you put it the more torque. The closer you put it the more hp. Now we are talking a few foot pounds or 1 or 2 hp but there is a difference. Also that is on a 125CC dirt bike. I used to keep spacers in my tool box for different tracks. A long wide open track i would take the spacers out. But if it was a real short tight track i would put one or 2 in. These where total of 10mm max in thickness but you get the idea.
  5. Ive done that so many times. It doesnt really matter
  6. Im with ya phil. I havent tried everything as im flat broke. My birthday is tomorrow so im going to convince my mom to buy me some magnecor wires for birthday/I fixed her mini van for 15 bucks by resoldering a PCB rather than buying the 450 dollar replacement. Seems like a somewhat fare trade. Its so fustrating trying to figure this out. As it was running great before i took her down for 2 months to paint her and then when i get her back on the road she starts running like crap. Here is something else my car does alot. Sometimes when im driving along it just dies. And i have to turn my key off and turn it back on and then it will basically start up again with no big deal. Ive done all the coil stuff and taking out the MSD box and just running the coil with no luck. Im so close to just rewiring the whole MS even though i know thats not it. Just pisses me off that its not something I can pin down.
  7. Those are minilites 14X6.5 not sure of the offset but they fit fine but you have to put a small spacer on the front for it to clear the spring. The tires are 195/70-14 but you could fit wider in the rear very easily. They are for sale if your interested. just pm me if you are
  8. If your cleaning lexan you should use a product called Plexus. You can get it at any motorcycle shop for the most part. Its made for Cleaning helmet shields and windscreens. It actually fills in little scratches that are on the lexan. Using Windex on lexan is a BIG NO NO. Over time it will yellow the lexan and make it brittle. Its the ammona in it that does this. Also I would suggest not using paper towels as they will scratch it also. Try to get a microfiber cloth or lint free terry cloth.
  9. Check craigslist. I got mine for i think $150. Maybe it was $200 i dont remember. The 350z guys take them out when they put other seats in there cars. Also check the sites where there is alot of 350z traffic
  10. How come i move from daytona and then all of a sudden there are like 5 people from the area on the board. This isnt jim is it??
  11. Yes that is what its for. Try taking a scrap piece of steel and start putting down a one handed bead. doesnt have to be pretty. With the other hand start tunning down the nob to the 7 it should lighten up and allow you to see more. You want to be protected as much as possible but you still need to see what your doing. Once i changed the lenses on my helmet it allowed me to actually see what the moltent metal was doing and i practiced pulling the pool of metal along my welds went to about the capacity of my crappy 150 buck welder.
  12. If you got a generic helmet from lowes or something that isnt adjustable. It more than likely came with a 10 rated lens. In my opinion i changed out my 10 for a 9 or 8 IIRC and it made a huge difference in my welding. Being able to see what your doing made a huge difference in my welding.
  13. ding ding ding. You are the winner. You have to take that off. Im surprised you got it together with it on there. where you able to use the origonal flywheel bolts?
  14. Does your welder have just a high/low for the power and then a dial for the feed? thats what mine has and i run into the problem on welding sheet metal. Low is almost to cold but high is so hot that it burns right through. I would try two things. 1. Make sure you dont have a fan blowing on you or your weld. I was doing this when i first started and had no clue that it was basicaly blowing the flux core gas away and it was being unprotected and was splattering like crazy. 2. Slow down and make sure your getting a pool of metal and then pull that pool along if your trying to carry a bead. I would also maybe trying to just stich weld it in place. I would grind that down if your going to try to reweld it. Your going to at least have to wire wheel it to get all the flux off. I find that using little circles works well with the flux core welders. While the zig/zag works well with a true MIG
  15. Ok i got one of those filters. I first tried it on the constant power. No difference on my battery voltage. It was still jumping around. Then i tried it on the switched power and it was the same. Im really thinking i need a new alternator. If i wasnt broke i would buy both the magnecor's and the alternator. but im broke so ya. What makes me think its the alternator is the spikes in the voltage. I can see emi causing the resets when the voltage goes really low but not with the spikes Idk maybe im wrong. .
  16. LOL. My sister had to come in from the other room to see why i was laughing so hard after i read that! Rick if your turning 62 I hope Im as young of a old geezer as you when im 62, and I pray i have half the knowledge of turbo and efi systems as you do by then. congrats again.
  17. Uh-Oh!!! An admin just double posted!!!! ban ban ban ban. lol jk Congrats grumpyvette
  18. Oh ya did you put them on the switched power or the constant power or both?

  22. Well i changed my plugs today and it didnt help really. Turns out i DID have BPR8ES's in there. But i got a set of BR8ES from the parts store cause thats all they had in the 8 range. Are the noise filters The inline filters or are they the clamp on filters that you see on computer cables alot? cause i saw some inline ones at advancedauto that where 10 bucks but im not sure if those are what your talking about.
  23. Well I'm back in Nashville where the little "tempermental bitch" has been awaiting my return from the 1600 mile trip in the ultra cush minivan. So I'll be trying to get some new plugs tomorrow for her. What plugs do you guys recomend for my setup running from 15psi to 20psi. Is a 8 to cold for a daily driver? Also where do you get the magnecor wires? and do they make a kit for the L6?
  24. lol yeah right. i wish. I can barely keep my ONE together and running
