  1. Does the steel one actually flex? While the steel mustache bar is spring steel and does flex front to back a bit i dont think its going to move up and down down any. Flexing a flat piece of steel width ways isn't the easiest.
  2. When I first read this I thought you where talking about painting my car... If I could take a dump and paint a car at the same time I would have to say I was one talented man. And back on topic.... GO!!!
  3. Crap so that means I painted mine in 08? So 7 years ago? Man I am getting old. Well I did throw my back out last month...
  4. DId you bore out the waste gate hole? Been 7-8 years but i remember that i had mine bored out till the flapper just covered it. I think my pinky would barely fit into it stock hole and it was bored out to around 1/2 or 3/4
  5. You already have one...Just flip it over.
  6. Austin Hoke makes a relocation kit for 350z transmission. It shortens it by 4.25".
  7. Yes those are round tops. Someone probably swapped them at some time in the past 42 years.
  8. That is amazing. I would rock that all day long. Not sure the wife would let me strap a car seat in the back though... Kinda reminds me of the bad guy in Cars 2. If you dont mind telling how much did something like that cost once it was imported?
  9. Man I wish I still lived in Florida. I would love to see this thing in person. Great work Derek. Keep it up.
  10. I prepped mine used de-greaser. metal etching primer and then satin rustoleum in a spray can. Looked good but it chipped easily. Go for something better.
  11. Derek. I have been out of the Z world for a few years now and last time I saw what you where doing it was finishing up your ITB's I come back on the board and i find this. Ive just wasted my lunch hour plus 30 min reading this thread(well wasted is not the right term) and I'm amazed. Im amazed at what your doing. Keep it up. Ill be around to keep tabs on this.
  12. GABE!!!!! Awesome to see you getting your Z going again. I just got a new job about a month ago and I've been getting the urg to get my z out and start working on her again. I actually started to wet sand my hood. Yes i painted my car what 7 years ago but better late than never. DId you ever get your lsd installed? I can make some spacers now if you still need them. I dont have them on mine but i have access to a lathe so i thought i would just for fun. Talk to you later man. Glad your back at it. Maybe someday we will be able to get together again.
  13. Rick... Ive joined you in the "throw it under a dust cover because it pisses me off" phase of my datsun days. How ya been? made any progress lately?
  14. Would be a hell of a drive for me now that Im in kansas and I would have to get the car drivable. But I've been out of the Z world to long and Stella needs to get her goove back! (Stellas my cars name lol)
  15. A block of wood that is 1 inch on bottom and 2 inches on top and i think 1 inch thick works just the same you just hammer it into place before you take the cam sprocket off. There is specs for it in the service manual to make one.
  16. Im going to have to say that is FOD (foreign object damage). The marks are to square edged to be detonation. Detonation is pretty much always domed in shape. Also the fact that you had stuff in the exhaust points to something being in the cylinders. Had you had intercooler piping welded up and some slag could of broken off and gotten into the cylinders? Or are you running an open intake on the turbo that you could of sucked something in?? Just my experience.
  17. Does any body know if it matters how you phase the 2 tripod joints. I rebuilt a set of mine and im having a bad vibration. I also added clutches to my clsd at the same time. The vibration is so bad on the passanger side that it worked the bolts out on my axle luckily i was only going around a corner at a crawl when it finally let go. Well any help would be great thanks
  18. Well its been a long time since I have posted on here. Getting back into racing motocross and getting engaged has kept me busy and away from doing anything on my Z. It has been back to daily driver status after a winter off. It was doing a few resets when I first got it back on the road. But I did a very simple mod that since I did it has alleviated all my resetting issues. All I did was shorten the nuts that hold the relay cable to the case. If you look at the case you will notice that the DB37 is behind the case and there is a hole cut out for it and for the matching db37 to mate fully. But the studs that you bolt the relay cable to are on top of the case and keep the relay cable from fully seating onto the other db37. So i just ground off the thickness of the cases on the studs and since i did that I havent had a single reset. So Im not going to say that its fixed but its been a solid 3-4 months of no resets and it has been running pretty well as daily driver status. I am having issues while under boost but i just keep it off of boost for now till i can get it figured out. Well i hope that makes sense and helps people.
  19. pm me i have one if your interested dp too
  20. Yep sounds just like my r200 with the 6 clutch mode and I also shimmed mine for around 70-75 ft/lbs. I added one tube of additive maybe ill add another
  21. Maybe the clutch is to big and is hitting the bellhousing?
  22. I dont have either. My old one had a sound deadening pad glued on the back of the carpet. But just carpet would be good.
