  1. I had Mack make mounts for my RB20. They are very sturdy. What I like most about them was that they can be adjusted to get the transmission to line up center in the tunnel. The engine sits low and far back enough to allow for a thicker radiator and intercooler pipes. You could tell they put a lot of thought into how the engine should sit. Looks good.
  2. Midnight-Z. Make sure the fuse box has the same size fuses that your current box has. I got the Civic box because I put an RB20DET in my car. I still have the original fuse box. That is going to stay in the car. I need the box to clean up the rat nest of wires hanging of the battery and I think it also has the relay in the box for my starter. If so, I can get rid of the relay that is mounted next to the fuel filter. It also has a couple of 50 amp and a 60 amp fusable links. Just a heads up.
  3. If you can't stay under $200, then just buy boosted240z's gas tank, He has on listed for sale at a good price.
  4. Today, putting in a new head liner and upholstering. Putting in full dash cover. I’ll let it sit in the car for awhile before gluing it down. Saturday, Going to National Speed for the Cape Fear Z club Dyno Day. Not a member of Cape Fear Z but I’m looking forward to seeing the cars. This will be my first Z meet
  5. Grumpyvette, I use to live in Boca and now I'm in North Carolina. If you still have the welder in the fall when I make my next trip down to Boca, I'll buy the welder. Sorry I can't come down now. Wish I could though.
  6. That's gotta suck. I would opt for a bike before using the minivan. I noticed the other day that my battery was dead and come to find out, the dome light decided to start working. It's not very bright so I didn't see it on in the daytime. The next morning the car would not run good. Charged the battery and the car was fine until the next day. Charged the battery again and noticed that evening that the light was on. Do like deja suggested and pull the fuses to the circuits that are not needed. Process of elimination.
  7. I’m going to the U-pull junk yard to get a Honda fuse box. The Civic has the perfect size for what I need.
  8. I had a small pin hole in my tank, self induced. And I used liquid metal to fix the problem. I had to drill the pin hole out a tad bigger and clean the metal aroung the hole. The liquid metal pushed into the hole and bonded to the tank. I haven't had any leaks since then.
  9. Sorry, I had to laugh when I read this post. I’m not sure what the problem is but just hang in there. The Multi meter is a good tool to find shorts. Get a book on basic car electronics. That helped me alot. That horse shoe is the Ohm symbol. Omega.
  10. I had a Honda and the dizzy bearings were going bad causing the same problem. Honda had a recall at the time for that problem. Mid 1990 cars. I just replaced the dizzy and it cleared up. You should pull the dizzy and inspect the bearings.
  11. I'm just getting back what I had to pay in. Funny. Send a check for 12 hundred and a couple of months later, get a check for 12 hundred. They should just let us ofset our refund with the stimulus package.
  12. You guys are making me get that U-Pull itch. I like walking around looking at every thing on the lot and thinking about how this part or that part would make my car better. I’m going this weekend just because. Don’t care if I find something or not. I am going to get a fuse box though. Doesn’t matter what car I get if from. Just need to get all those red wires fused and organized. I have a bunch of dangling fuses hanging everywhere.
  13. I believe JSM is talking about rust. These cars are rust buckets. I have rust on the frame rails. The firewall on passanger side also. Another thing is that there are many connections in the wire harness that can fail. Make sure it doesn't have intermittent problems with the lights, wipers and most important, starting.
  14. I'll give you this one for free because I'm such a softy. Look at the front page. Go to downloads. Look at 2nd from last link. RB FSMs
  15. This has been covered many many times. You should be able to do a search and find everything you need to do the complete swap on this site. I do mean everything. There are also FSM manuals on the front page that you can get for the RB engines.
  16. I tried this with GTR444 injectors. Using the stock ECU and a Apexi fuel control system will leave you with an overlap that can't be tuned out. I have the adjustable fuel regulator that can be set lower and I could up the boost but the car runs like crap at idle and you don't get very good consistent air fuel control from low to high RPM. I took the injectors back out and I'm going to get a full stand alone system one day.
  17. Got mine at Lowes. It was much cheaper than anywhere else and they have larger loom sizes. You should be able to go online and look up the price at Lowes.com.
  18. Sounds like he is trying to pull up the signal. I wouldn't try that. Hope to have the tach soon. Can't wait to try it out. I have the wire ran to the driver side already just waiting for the tach to show up.
  19. Why did you have to show that. My wife is going to kill me if I get another project car around the house. Between me and my son, we seem to always have something going on looking for deals. I get one more car and I'm going to have to get a dealers licence. This sucks. This car would be a good flip for someone who knows how to swap.
  20. Look up between the passenger rear tire and gas tank. That is where the pump should be.
  21. I'm getting a new tach in the mail. I'm going to pull signal from the loop located on the transistor pack. I saw someone at a tuner shop use it with the Dyno to get a tack signal. Strange thing is, I don't see this loop in the FSM but it's in the harness connected to the transistor pack. You might want to wait on using this until I give it a go. I'm gonna measure the voltage before making any connections though. I'll keep you posted. I'
  22. I had this happen on two cars of mine. A Jeep and a Toyota pickup. It was because one of the pistons had less compression that the others and caused pinging under load. You might check to see that the compression is the same between all the pistons. Only takes one piston to be off by a little to cause pinging. My Jeep was off by 30 psi and the truck was off by 50%. Mostly because of a bent valve.
  23. No it's not guys. It's the passenger eject button. Make sure your car has T-Tops.
  24. Hay Andy, How many wires does that dropping resistor have? Can't tell with the picture. If it only has two wires, then it is most likely not for the injectors but rather the fuel pump. Look closer at the FSM diagram. Also, the dropping resistors do not lower the voltage to the injectors. The voltage is pulled low by the ECU and the dropping resistor limits the amount of current that goes through the injectors so as not to fry them. Voltage is not the enemy, current is.If you do have to have a dropping resistor then what I found out is that one wire, usually the white wire goes to the switched battery supply and the other 6 individual wires will go to one side of the injector. The other side of the injector goes to the ECU. When the key is turned on, the injectors will have 12v on both sides. When the engine turns over, the ECU will pull one side of the injector low with a ground pulse. This will pull the 12v low causing current to flow through the injector. The injector opens at this point. I have an RB20DET with high impedance injectors that do not use the dropping resistor pack. The picture that you have looks just like the dropping resistor used for the fuel pump on the RB20. It keeps the pump for getting to much current and burning up. Make sure you check very closely with the FSM. I thought my dropping resistors were missing from the swap until I took a second look at the RB20DET FSM and found that it did not have them. I kept confusing the fuel pump dropping resistor with the injector dropping resistor pack.I'm not saying that you don't need them. Just make sure they are the right ones. Picture of dropping resistor pack for injectors Picture of Dropping resistor for fuel pump Hope this helps.
  25. You should make it a trunk monkey cage. You can just let the monkey out when you get pissed at someone in traffic.
