  1. Yes, it's very simple or maybe even crude but it does keep the urethane air dam from bending at speed.
  2. @Jeff, I like it, it opens it up so you can put the rad and cold air intake exactly where you want them and then, as you say, fill in the gaps with panels. So I guess you have some kind of backing support piece for the arch to bolt into?
  3. Well I thought I would just continue with this thread I started 4 yrs ago since it is the same car and it is an ///M engine,
  4. And you would be right sir, just finished rebuilding an S54 and chomping at the bit to get into my Z, it is somewhat lighter, smaller and the oil pan has a rear sump, oh and it's a lot more powerful than the s38 that is in it now.
  5. That makes perfect sense now that I think about, there is very little weight up there so doesn't need a lot of support. The rest of the chassis has been stiffened to handle the extra hp. Thanks all, I'll post up some pics when I get it done but I think it will end up with something very similar to what @tim.d has done to his.
  6. It was complete, I just want more power @tim.d, that is very similar to what I was thinking but I like your angled cut better. Thanks
  7. I'm going to be dropping a different engine in the Z this winter and I know by the time I'm done it will be in and out a dozen times so I'm going to cut out the upper most Rad support to make it easier but I'll will have to come up with some way to make that support so it can be removed and replaced while still providing the strength that is required. Any suggestions?
  8. @DcrDavid, when you cut the rad support out did you weld in any kind of extra support underneath to compensate? I'm thinking of cutting my rad support and trying to think of a way to restore the strength. Thanks
  9. Not sure what they are going for in the states, the 280dx package that I got goes for about $11,500 CND, I paid $7,000
  10. Well the oil pan will fit the L28 engine that is in the ZX but may or may not fit with that engine in the ZX.
  11. Yes, the Tabco rocker has the keel up front that is behind the front fender when mounted.
  12. Well this has turned into a kind of show and tell, I've been saving my pennies to buy a good tig that will do for the rest of my life and I found it a couple of weeks ago on craigslist, Miller Dynasty 280DX with 5 1/2 total hrs on it. Having a great time with it, probably never use all the features so finally built a welding table that I can move around.
  13. The expensive way, proper way would be to buy the rocker replacement from Tabco, https://tabcoparts.com/16740.html and cut out the piece you need and weld that in. You could also just cut out the rust and make up a patch and weld it on top. Check thoroughly in that area because the rust can be quite extensive.
  14. Start reading, the archives are full of info.
  15. The Datsun wiper motor takes a bad rap for a problem that is almost always in the wiper linkage, specifically the spindles that the wiper arms attach to, they are usually rusted up and sometimes ceased. By removing the locking spring clip they can be disassembled, cleaned and greased up again. Once every 40 yrs or so
  16. Do you still have the stock parts? If you can install them and take some measurements of where the Diff normally is and compare that to where it is with the TTT stuff. As I understand it the TTT parts are suppose to replicate the stock positions so if you mount all the stock hardware you should be able to replace any one of those parts with the TTT part and still have everything fit. Maybe try that one piece at a time to see if you can isolate the problem.
  17. You could try one of these, ArizonaZcar and Whitehead Performance carry them.
  18. If I ever win the lottery... I would love to put this cute little thing in a 240z, https://elmerracing.com/raceshop/race-engines/thor-billet-engine-detail Very light, would mount behind the shock towers and of course 1500hp could fun as well.
  19. I'm taking notes, those clearances are looking good, I wonder why @m3240z felt he had to shave D/S oil pan to get enough room, you seem to have lots? Have you considered the Saturn/Equinox electric steering mod? Much lighter than the hydraulic systems and frees up space where the steering pump and hoses were, there are a number of threads on it here and on Classiczcar.
  20. Goddamn that is a lot of rust, perhaps check your area for a chemical dipper shop, some serious work there.
  21. and Aussies are always trying to prove they're rugged individuals who think for themselves. That is an equally generalized statement that applies to almost no one. The real point is that the vendor has posted a dozen odd photos of his work that we have to assume he is proud of, well if that is his good work ...
  22. Listen to what @jhm is telling you, it's good advice. No fuel line should ever be running over top of the transmission like that, there is the possibility of it being pinched, your heating the fuel up unnecessarily and there is no reason to have that connector there except to patch up a previous owners poor planning. You can go fancy with SS or just p/u a coil of fuel line at NAPA, both will be safer than what you have right now.
  23. Very nice that last photo, if it is good enough for the aircraft industry, it's good enough for our Z's.
  24. You said it and some web page design would be nice too. Not a good way to introduce yourself to the community. I wish him luck though.
