  1. I say, Why not! Most likely to be unique. Not every day you see a 240SX sportin an old L series.
  2. haha, pretty cool man. Looking at that video, I realize just how diverse our little community here is. All our car's are so different, and all built for different reasons and from all sorts of different places.
  3. I remember that. They did it with their home made wind tunnel experiment. I think the idea was that the air from the fan swirled and had tons of turbulence, but if they forced the air from the fan to funnel into tons and tons of straws, the air would evenly distribute itself. so instead of swirling the air would get funnel, sorted, then exit pretty evenly. Much like with the plenum with the many slots monzter came up with. it's sort of like if you took a ton of straws, and blew through all them. No matter how twisted and curvy they are up to the point where they came from, when they exit, they'll all exit straight. I guess it's a form of ducting?
  4. ran a quick search on l28et mainbearing and found this post http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=90944&highlight=l28et+main+bearing it looks like chiltons is correct.
  5. Man Gary, that's one pretty little roadster there!
  6. Stock color of my 78 is 517 metallic beige. At first I was thinking of doing a very dark midnight blue, but seeing so many blue car's, I'm almost debating on keeping it the stock color (but with an msa airdam and zg flares) I'm wondering if anyone has any pictures of Z's painted with the 517, but modified (airdams, flares, wings etc) It'd be pretty helpful when the time comes for me to paint my car. The color's pretty unique, and I hardly see ANY Z's that retain the color (i have seen the 2+2 on zhome is it? i don't know why, but the lighting makes the color seem "off" to me)
  7. It looks like a mix of Cardstock and Construction paper to me. Maybe a bit of paper mache for super high strength right?
  8. Man, now i REALLY hope I get my car back this week >_< if I do there's a good chance of me going to the pavillions saturday night.
  9. My car used to do that. It turns out it was running so rich that unless the fuel was restricted, the thing refused to start.
  10. I was thinking the same thing. I would love to see the new GT-R in that classic midnight blue or mignight purple. I think for the new skyline, they made it as un-tuner friendly as possible. There are so many sensors and crap in there, that if you change one thing the car will puke on you. as far as i know, it'll basically give up any changes that have been made to the car. So as far as tuning goes, there is none.
  11. Man, I'd love to go to the pavillions again. I need a new rad for my car though.
  12. whenever i check for spark, i just pull out a plug and ground it somewhere, then crank the car and see if the plug arcs. (but that's cause I'm the only person that can work on my car)
  13. Well, i've heard of new ones being over 2500 bucks. So...you could probably get....a stupid amount of money for it. a new dash from MSA for a 240z, is 2000 dollars.
  14. I found this when I was trying to find a picture describing what my idea was From the looks of it, that would correct the problem that you're talking about, would it not? or maybe something similar to the BRE front spoiler?
  15. it's not the welds that aren't safe, it's the mounting point for one. You mounted it to the fender well correct? the correct way to mount it, would to have it tie into the cars frame rails, or a stronger point. If the car were to flip, instead of the energy being transfered into the strongest points of the car, the energy would transfer into the fender well, which would then buckle under the weight and become crushed. That is of course, if the welds don't break under stress and the thing comes apart. There's a reason why the main hoop is a single peice of steel. the strut bars look nice, but like someone said earlier, they are MUCH stronger when perfectly straight, and mounted to the plate up at the top. not really claiming to know anything either. I've never built this kind of stuff. More or less i'm going based of observations of other cars, and my dad's 66 VW. all the mounting points mounted to the strongest points of the pan, and the rear mount went through the body, and bolted to the transmission horns (another major structure point) The way i kinda think of things for mounting stuff like that, is if i can dent it with a hammer, it's probably not strong enough.
  16. Gollum also got his car for 1k I'm willing to bet 100 bucks it's the car he bought. One seat, floor layered with dynamat, same year, needs body work, etc. no way it can't be the same car.
  17. I guess i can post one of mine from the night i got her. Z owner's gotta start somewhere right? She may be dirty and beaten, but she's got a lot of character and spirit ^__^ haha, 280zone I was about to ask where in phoenix you live, then i realized that I bought your AFM a while back! From what the mechanic said i should have my car back this week (weather permitting, the rain caused the electric gremlins to return. corroded the fuseable links again i'm guessing)
  18. I wondered if he did that so certian spam fishing software or smoething wouldn't be able to see it? I know some people modify their email addresses in a way for programs not to see them.
  19. seriously haha. part out the dash and you'll have a nice big wad of cash to dump into the car!
  20. some people think it's from too much calcium, but it's actually a LACK of calcium that causes them I got bored one day and read up on what causes them XP
  21. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf there you go.
  22. I've used it countless times already trouble shooting my 78. I think i learned more from that PDF than I would've by being online all day trying to search for an answer.
  23. Ah, i see. I found the picture when I was looking through Tomitaku's website.
  24. found this image on their site and saw the numbers 700,and used bablefish to roughly translate it. the picture i THINK said it's from 1984, and at the time that twin turbo made 700hp.
  25. weird. my speedo is perfectly accurate and i don't have stock tires. I took my car up to 115 on the speedo (a little over actually) in 4th gear at about 5300rpm in 4th gear. I punched in all the numbers on a speed calculator and it puts me at 117mph at 5300rpm in 4th gear. I run 225/70/14 on my car haha. and it was still pulling pretty damn hard too imo. Got up there REALLY fast. btw, it was also running with crappy injectors that have been causing it to fail miserably with emissions, so i had to compensate the crappy mr2 afm by making the spring really tight. didn't run lean though. but it ran really rich at idle. I think now it should be better though (new injectors a proper 78 afm) I needa give the shop a call and see if it passed. Maybe Harumi really does only have 166k on her. I should compression check her when i get her back haha. (what's the maximum pressure i should see on a stock L28? n47 head with dished pistons on a 78)
