man, Cali's up in smoke, the east coast is bone dry. and arizona is business as usual. weird. -
damn dan! I hope everything stays ok! Especially your house! Saftey of you and your family is top priority though, so if you can't get everything saved here don't worry! just stay safe man!

My "stock" fuel injectors might be wrong. Help
m4xwellmurd3r replied to nbesheer's topic in Fuel Delivery
they look like the injectors on my 78. looks like oem injectors to me. also, if you look where it shwos the picture of the injectors, it says this above it Later 280Z green body injector so those are late model 280 injectors like mine, and early models have the white/tan ones, with the 280zx turbo having brown so they aren't turbo injectors, but late model 280z injectors. (n/a injectors) -
dude, my 78 280z outran a turbo 'busa the other day (though, i must admit, he WAS in the left turn lane when my light turned green) lolz. i wanna see a dyno slip and see him do a top speed test at least on the dyno.

it has a 2 step launch control there's a second wire you hook up to get the 2 step to work you hook it up to a handbrake (or your line lock, staging brake, etc) and it becomes a 2 step. if you dont ground the white wire, it's a single stage rev limiter. it doesn't work above the fuel cutoff (of course) and has a setting of how agressive the rev limiter is (i think it's the duration the ignition is shut off, like i said earlier, a slow rev limit that's smooth that a lot of normal cars have, or a really quick agressive style normally seen on race cars. it's not a mis firing system though, those work when you let OFF the gas (which is why they go bang bang) it's just a rev limiter that they're showing off by hammering on it. the gas explodes as the unignited fuel gets ignited when the ignition kicks back on (wow, lots of ignite words)

pretty much. i think it also depends on the setup. some cars will shoot flames more than others. my dad's bug would do it a bit, but not too much.
-
i was reading the site, and i didn't see where it says that it claims to be a misfiring system, in fact, in the instruction, it states that 2 rev limits can be set. i DID see a part about the rev limit gain. i THINK that's the speed at which the limiter operates ( a slow vrr vrr vrrr or vrvrvrvrvrvr)

we need a way to sort by location (state would be most helpful) anyways, i'm in Phoenix Arizona.

cleaned connectors, now MORE rich??
m4xwellmurd3r replied to m4xwellmurd3r's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
my AFM was for a mid 80's MR2 NO WONDER WHY IT DIDN"T WORK it had also popped out of adjustment from the backfire (from being lean) thus causing it to be even more loose. I could suck it full open WITH MY MOUTH that's not normal I tightened up the adjustment on it till it worked, but i went to far and made it run lean enough to overheat (doh!) i'm going to fix it tommorow. should be pretty easy to readjust now that i've become familiar with the internals -

tonight i decided to check some things. i have good spark. i hooked a plug to the coil and cranked it. nice big blue spark. for the hell of it, i decided to unhook the afm from the throttle body just enough to see what happend. well, it leaned out obviously. could my afm be bad? is it possible that it has worn out over the years and now the spring is weaker? i know these usually have an a/f ratio screw on it, but on the place where it would be, is a cap that looks epoxied in. is there a screw under that? -
1971 Datsun : Z-Series V-8 240z 200 + mph V-8 240Z yes it does ^^

aziza that all original car is a 260, not a 240 however, it only has 19k on it, and is probably 99.999% original. I ALMOST think it's worth that much, but who knows. but, 200mph in the one in the op. haha, yeah right. maybe with the front wheels 2 feet in the air like a fighter landing his plane! strotter, it's a 302 stroked to a 347 i wanna see some numbers though. maybe it'll do 200 on a rolling dyno, but on the road, doubted.

replaced spark plugs with some champions. it runs, but it's so rich it barely runs. -
HELP! Fuel, Spark, AIR...but no Start???
m4xwellmurd3r replied to Globerunner513's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
as far as i know, our injection system "batch" fires, meaning all of them at the same time. so they pulse constantly. they aren't synchronous which i think is what you might be thinking. i'm having the same problem, but i think mine is because the plugs are fuel fouled. here's one. have you checked the water temp sensor? if water gets in that plug, it'll short out the circuit and the car won't start (but i think it won't start because of fuel) wouldn't hurt to check all your wires though to make sure they're all dry. and i mean every single last one you can find. -

yep, they look very fuel fouled. black and crispy lol it's a 78 280z, stock L28E i don't even have a wire wheel. i'm just gonna toss in a set of NKG's. it has autolites right now. i don't like them much. -

I checked the water temp sensor at the ECU per the efi bible, it's perfect, exactly what it should be reading (around 1980ohms) so, i was holding my foot to the floor, and it had a very slight amount of life, but never enough to start, and it sorta pulses like vro-vrvrvrv-vro-vrvrvr but never enough to get it to start. sounded weak too. for a short time i ALMOST got it to start. It won't even start on starter fluid (with the fuel pump/fuel lines disconnected) SO i have a VERY strong feeling.... that my plugs are totally fuel fouled/shot. especially because after a while of all that, it didn't even try to start. i did pull a plug out and set it on the fender to ground it, and it was sparking very well, but, under compression, it's harder for that little plug to spark. i'm gonna bet that it was a very sad coincidence that the plugs fouled out to that point after i cleaned it more. does that sound plausible? -

sigh...i suppose i'll have to wait till tommorow then. do you know what the resistance should be at the bullets of the harness? if i knew that i would know if it was the harness or the wires themselves. -
so, the other day i cleaned my water temp sensor wires with vinegar to get off the corrosion. worked great, but now my car's flooding and i can't get her to start at all. unfortunatly, i can't get a multimeter till tommorow, but what happened? everything worked fine, then all of a sudden i can't get it to start, and the plugs are soaked in gas. it gets good fuel pressure (from what i could tell, it was rich because of bad connections, but ran awesome) now it won't start. what's the resistance value of the plug itself, going to the ecu? i know where i can find the values for the water temp sensor, and i know that's good because i just popped it in last week. i've cleaned off all the corrosion with an oring pick, but it made basically no change. there aren't any leaks either

hmm...not sure what to say. pretty awesome, and it looks more like a skyline, but at the same time, it has changed a LOT haha. those headlights are pretty neat looking how they strech like that. with that kind of performance though, the GT-R is definitely back! I wonder what it does in the 1/4

imo it's just one of those strange things in life that occurs there are massive amounts of sbc's and a big aftermarket base in parts, so why not? kind of like how mikuni's and webber's are popular for our z's, but i haven't seen many dellorto conversions (but maybe because the dellorto's are harder to find?)

that's why you mount it in a way where the cops can't see, and run an led to somewhere on your dash (maybe one of the dummy lights, like say, the low fuel light) lol. i've been lucky with getting pulled over. i was taking a turn with no sign saying to slow down or anything, and took it at the speed limit (apparently there is a sign, but it's in a very bad spot, and can't be seen well) a cop pulls me over (in an undercover magnum) and tells me that i was going way to fast through the turn. this is in a '62 vw with the stock 1200. anyways, the cop lets me off after quizing me to see what i know about vw's. nice to know i got let off cause he liked my car i suppose (the posted sign apparently said 35, i was doing around 45-48) ironic though. getting pulled over for SPEEDING in a bug with 40hp with a top speed of 70mph. I kind of miss that bug, but having the z is a whole new adventure. as far as outburst go. mine occur at night on the freeway. i basically run laps around the north and southbound I-17 by my house, since the off ramps lead to u-turns to get back onto the freeway. I limit myself to 10 over though, and no higher than 70mph. 1st and 2nd gear are so much fun. I really do love the sound of a zed's l6 at high rpm. I just hope i can keep my foot off the gas and not go for a top speed run i did it in my broncoII in NC, it did 120mph (yeah, 1990 broncoII rated at like, 130-140hp pulling 120mph)
