  1. hey where in AZ are ya. that is weird that it would do that. the only thing I could think of is it's the wiring. my plug doesn't seem to hold tight on my S30 but it works fine. I'm not too sure how the connector looks on the Z31's though
  2. and now i'm stuck with a stumbling problem more likely than not, caused by teh recent rain we've had out here, compounded by teh recently humid days. which really BITES. I hate tracking down these gremlins. I was really hoping that my fuel filter was dirty again.
  3. sounds like mine. when it's hot, it sticks like crazy, but if it cools down it reads decently (i installed a small tach and at idle and up to around 3000rpm, they both read the same, after that, the stock tach reads lower by up to 400rpm)
  4. Your fuesable links on the passanger side of the car probably got filled with water, and are now corroded. Unplug them and take a pick of some sort to clean them off. That's what happens most of the time.
  5. lmao that's how I knew which rod spun a bearing in my old VW bug. It doesn't really sound like rod knock though. then again, I spun the bearing in my bug pretty bad when I did it (sounded more like a thrown rod) it could just be the audio quality, but it just doens't sound...metallic enough i suppose. have you tried probing the engine with a long screwdriver or something?
  6. you'd be surprised how loud those injectors can be, even when they're running fine. Mine are all pretty loud even though they're all new. Nothing wrong with them, but all 6 of those batch firing make quite a bit of noise.
  7. From what I read on the article about the race event that car was in, it was the fastest FWD car that ever lapped the track in its class. Or something like that.   8. Anything is possible with money and hard work. Though, I think you'd mostly need the buckets, nose, and some modifications and fiberglass work than you would the whole front clip.
  9. I have a question then tony If you have a header that is warped, and a spare head to try and true it, would it be fine to run (ie:seal properly) as long as you heated it to true it if you took it off and it warped again? I guess my question is Can you indefinitely true a warped header flange?

Maybe your TPS is causing the issue if it's only doing it at that much throttle, because that's exactly how mine reacts. actually, if I'm at speed and I slow down, giving it just enough throttle to open it up a bit, it'll start pouring in gas and will rumble like crazy. it'll backfire too at times. Though, that's pretty normal it seems. But from your last post, it seems the problem has gotten worse?
  11. My Z stumbles at partial throttle because my throttle position switch is set a bit off, so it actually thinks the throttle is closed, and puts it into its idle enrichment mode or whatever you call it.
  12. I found out what caused my throttle to stick JUST like you describe. Look at your throttle linkage. The very rear bushing, near the firewall, is probably rotten, causing the shaft to have a lot of slack. it sticks because once it kinks over from hitting the throttle, it binds. I didn't really fix mine, I just soaked it in 3 in 1 oil and eventually it stopped sticking haha Also sounds like your cold start injector isn't going off when it's cold outside.

  14. I think the best lube you could use would be anti seize. yes, crazy, but it does wonders. My dad used to go through more of it than most people since he used it on quite a few important areas on old VW's. the best use was for the bushing used for the shifter rod. Made it so smooth that it didn't feel like it could be stock haha.

  16. Yeah, the profile information remains the same throughout all the upgrades that MSN does to their profile system. I recently had to change all of mine because it was all from when I was FOURTEEN. and that was 7 years ago. they basically just retain all the old information and change the layout and design of their profile site.
  17. Wow those are great shots. There is only one thing that really bothers me about the 370z's body. it's this recent trend auto manufactures have of clipping off the flares at a total flat point. It's like they made these huge flares, then said, oh, too big, and stuck them to a flat grinder to get rid of the excess material.
  18. Hmmm 3.2L 4 rotor in a Z. When you tell people you have a 3.2L Z, they'll expect the sound of a roaring stroker, but instead will be greated by the scream of a 4 rotor mimicking the sound of a high rev formula 1 car.
  19. if that's the case, then you've got something going on in the circuit for them. I don't know exactly which it could be, but I do know, that if you have a lot of corrosion on the fuseable links, that sort of symptom could occur. I freaked out when my Z wouldn't start, and that was the problem the entire time.

I definitely can tell my Z gets a bit lifty at around 90+ I have no air dam, no bumper, no underpan that the 78's had, and what's more, ALL my bushings are pretty much shot (especially the front right LCA bushing) Going straight, no problem, but I can feel the steering get a little lighter, and the nose does want to wander a bit. I did do a little test. I ran it up to 90+ with the hood fully closed, then while driving at speed, I popped the hood open to vent. Weirdest feeling ever. the steering felt a bit heavier and the nose didn't want to wander so much. But it's still a bit hair raising. I would NOT want to have to turn at anything over 90 in that car at all. and it hits a brick wall at around 85-90. Gets up to 80+ in 3rd pretty quickly, and gets up to 90 in 4th pretty easily, then it just drags and drags and drags before hitting 100 (all indicated. it appears i hit 110 when i indicate 100 though) I think I'm going to make a cheap duct for my radiator and block off the giant basking shark mouth my 78 has. It may not have a fancy airdam, but it may help a bit. eventually I want to install a Gnose with an airdam on it, along with some belly pans. I can definitely tell that these cars didn't have much wind tunnel testing done to them. I've been in cars up to 120mph that felt much more stable than mine. and my buddies New Beetle Turbo S was up to 140+ and was stable enough for him to forget he was doing 140mph.
  21. I think the biggest problem you'll run into is if you increase the steering angle, the inner portion would start hitting things. So you'd also have to make the track wider. I'd post a link to that build thread, but I don't know were it is

  24. [deleted] Man, I'd really love to see your car at least once. it's a work of engineering art. it's definitely a quiet car too. that surprises me. I didn't know it was that mild mannered Congrats on the kid! I wish I got to have my first ride in such a unique car.
