  1. It is much much easier to install than you are making it out to be. It really is plug and play with the relay board. If you can solder, you can install it. It is much less work than splicing together the 28)ZXT harness I'm sure, plus troubleshooting that if it doesn't work is going to be a major pain. I had all of the components for the swap, got cold feet and went MS instead. It may seem over your head now, but if you plan on going with a standalone at some point later on, why do things twice when you can do it once?
  2. Yes I do. The MSA set *should* be all the same, so fronts/rears it doesn't matter. The part number is the same from front to back according to the A/Z computer. Glad to help you out email me for paypal info... flat black 280 at gmail dot com
  3. Option 3: N/A-T the N42 block, install intercooler, stay on stock boost and you'll be fine! I have a flat top motor with a 1mm HG and it's still ticking away at 180psi on all cylinders with 10 psi of boost. Unless you are running the stock ECU, then I guess go with Option 2?
  4. You're looking at the picture on a stock lined car Notice the crappy stock soft line in the back haha. I need to upgrade but I'm lame and don't want to spend $70 right now. [still need an Optima, new tranny, etc etc]
  5. Non-Vented 84-85 Toyota 4x4 Pickup brakes bolt right on with no modification other than trimming the dust shield. There are no banjo fittings on the S12+8s [Non-vented toyota calipers] You may use your stock lines. Here is a picture of them installed on my 78. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh81/flatblack280/Z%20pictures/103_1844.jpg Um... but yeah you can sell those SS lines to me if you'd like
  6. I know, I have no clue what I'm doing wrong. I checked everything several times. I had TrumpetRhapsody do it on his comp and it didn't pull anything up either.
  7. Look at my picture I posted, I was searching the forums. Or, try it yourself. I feel like an idiot, why is this so hard lol Alright, in advanced search, it was defaulting to 'help files' but I switched it to "forums" and nothing came up. Then I clicked on the "Technical" forum just to make doubly sure. Still nothing. How are new people supposed to work this dang thing if I can't even do it, and I've been here for a couple of years?
  8. Cool. You'll need a 280Z moustache bar for the R200 conversion, the 280ZXs have a weird single rear mount. See? It's weird
  9. So when I needed to find a thread I had made a while ago, I would click on my name, then select "Topics by member" then there would be a list of threads I had made, listed by their title. Now, I do the same process, and it only lists the 3 that were bumped latest, and shows the entire posts >_< I can't find the rest of the topics I've started. Where are they?? I am looking for my LC-1 troubles thread. After not beign to navigate through my Profile page, I turned to Hybrid's world-famous search function. I typed in "LC-1" in the search box and it said their were NO results e_e I am disappointed that I can't even use the search button, especially when we all yell at the new guys to go searching. Not even an single hit for LC-1? REEEAAALLLYYYY???? *grumbles something under his breath about VB*
  10. Everyone does the Digital to Analogue swap. Analogue gauges are so much better. My Z31's dash has gone through 3 fuses in a year, I wouldn't ever buy a digital dash car again. Keep the needles.
  11. I see you've discovered that I am a closet redneck. Hey. Sometimes it is necessary to be able to get through a bunch of mud or water. Okay, well usually we go to look for that stuff, but still.
  12. Legacy out, XJ in Hopefully getting that thing in about a month [No, it does not have an American flag flying on it ]
  13. That's a VG30ET not VG30DET. Check out Z31performance.com - they have many many serious VG30ET cars there that make great power.
  14. Unfortunately.... I had to go to AutoZone and get "Tuner lugs." Yes, Tuner lugs. A picture of smaller lugs that are nicer than mine: The holes in the Rotas don't fit 'standard' lugs, so you must find a suitable alternative. I wanted something quick so I went to the local 'big box' store, but you can get nicer lugs online. Here are some different types: http://www.gorilla-auto.com/small.diameter.lugs.and.locks.page_13
  15. $500 could get you a MegaSquirt setup, and you would have programmable fuel and spark maps, unlike the stock ECU. If you plan on running anything more than stock boost, go with a programmable ECU. I was in the same shoes you were this time last year. I had every part of the 83 Harness laying in front of me, I read the turbo EFI swap at least 10 times, and I still was baffled. I sold everything and bought MegaSquirt instead, it was much much easier to visualise and get running than I assume the stock EFI swap will be.
  16. What a gorgeous car!! Good luck on the upcoming swap, my friend Eric is in the same process with his SR20DET S13 that was recently totaled.
  17. The intial question is so generic, "average cost" could be anywhere from $1,000-$30,000 depending on where you source your parts from and what you choose to modify while you have the motor out. Besides the Datsun specific parts [i.e. JCI kit], I think you'll find better information searching LS1tech or something like that. Are we really going to get into the "Gen X is better than Gen X if done properly?"
  18. My roommate rebuilt his 7M-GTE in his MKIII. The car pulls quite hard, and it has a great powerband. I'd be more interested in Supras if they didn't weigh twice as much as my S30
  19. The pads that came with the calipers I installed them just to see if they worked. They do, but... Not well. I flushed the fluid again yesterday, the driver's caliper puked out some nasty brown. It's got new fluid in it now. The driver's side ate 2/3 of a pad in about 50 miles of driving. I have no clue how that is possible, but it is. The massive amounts of brake dust on my wheel confirms that I'm not crazy and it did go through almost an entire pad. Also, my brakes started to shudder quite a bit yesterday while I was on my way out to the lake. I think a rebuild might be in order.
  20. The S12+8 swap is complete. The brakes work MUCH better, but I'm getting some serious fade when I really get on the brakes [doing multiple 60-10 stops in a row]. I got out of the car and the right caliper was smoking. After they cooled down, they worked fine again. I've bled both front calipers twice, I didn't see any air come out. They are "junkyard" calipers, so maybe they are partially siezed? I know my master cylinder needs to be replaced again, but I never got really bad fade like I get with these. Also, my left side is making a TONNE of brake dust. Once again, I don't know if the pad is getting broken into the rotor yet or not. I might need to replace it soon as well. On to pictures: Old Rotor
  21. Nooooo!! Not a carb-er-ett-or!! It has coil packs!!
  22. I jumped on the Subaru bandwagon. I'm actually trading this thing out in about a month for my buddy's lifted XJ. I'm working on a Subaru Impreza Outback Sport that will be my new daily/off-road beater.
  23. Do it right!! "FLOW -->" [pointing towards the terminals]
