  1. I have a cam off of an N42 I could sell you. If you are talking about higher lift cams, I usually see people on here saying the stock EFI cannot support them.
  2. This is really weird, I am having the same problem, except once I get to 5500 my L28 starts to sputter and go back down in RPMs. Swapped FPR, Fuel Pump, new filters, new ignition coil, still the same problem. I can't put my finger on if it is fuel or spark related. I should be getting a wideband soon and then I can figure out if it is fuel related or not. Since I am EFI and you are carb'd and we have the same problems I wonder if this would point to a spark issue?
  3. You'd really buy an ebay 'V BAND TURBO KIT DAEWOO DAIHATSU DATSUN DODGE EAGLE' Please tell me you're not serious. How would you support the extra fuel needed for the turbo? READ the turbocharger forum here. Read all of the stickies. Do it. Go now.
  4. Personally, if I had the time and space I'd pull all of it [motor and tranny] and rebuild the bottom end. I'd like to do that before the turbo swap, but I wouldn't want my S30 down that long. [And my F54 only has 83,000 on it]
  5. I'm no purist by any means, but I think side skirts and rear bumpers [think MSA type 3] destroy the body lines of the S30.
  6. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=138177&highlight=VQ35 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=122238&highlight=flat+plane Check out number 2 http://forums.hybridz.org/announcement.php?f=65&a=2 Headers have nothing to do with it sounding like a tin can. That has more to do with muffler choice.
  7. Cool! Well, I figured the MSA gaskets would come with specs... Going to do a bit of research. No dice: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/SGS06a/10-2444 Just wondering if it was stock thickness or smaller like the Fel-pro.
  8. Did you read attworth's thread about having three bolts break off in the block? Thats why I wouldn't re-use bolts simply because I've had to dig exhaust studs out of a head, I couldn't imagine the hassle of digging a head bolt out. Lazy question - what size are the MSA gaskets? 1.5?
  9. Well, mine isn't leaking any. I've got about 2,000 hard miles on this gasket. They are About $11 IIRC so yes, it is a cheap experiment. [Grrrr spelling and no shift keys...]
  10. I have only dealt with EFI heads and motors, and I have no idea about the AZ manifold, I am just going to suggest this to you: I've always run the universal felpro gasket that O'Reilly's usually always has in stock. I have circle port headers and they fit the square or circle ports. I have never had problems with them in terms of leakage or anything. You may want to go to an O'Reilly's and see if it will work with your application. Good luck
  11. Had you already pulled the head on this motor? I'm using ARP studs and I'm very happy with deciding to go with them. Just wondering because my buddy Chris [TrumpetRhapsody] and I were having a conversation about X64v blowing head gaskets on his L24ET today at lunch. What head gasket are you going to get for this?
  12. AutoZone gave me the same part # head gasket for my early L28 and my Flat Top F54/P79 L28. Do you have a Flat Top block or a Turbo block? Seems like E88 would make too high of a CR unless you are running upgraded fuel management. I looked into putting my N42 on my FT F54 last fall and member here have told me it is a really bad idea without a bigger cam and engine management [Megasquirt, etc]
  13. Yeah I did it when I put a new head gasket on [with ARP Head studs].
  14. The furthest bolt [exhuast] towards the radiator and the furthest bolt towards the firewall both were broken off inside my P79. I ended up heli-coiling the head and it hasn't leaked at all.
  15. Will your graduation present to yourself next May be a couple of Ball Bearing turbos?? Fantastic work, now go enjoy it!
  16. I don't know the months on when the 260Zs changed from early to late. Does your car have bumpers on it? If it has the 240Z Type Bumper, its early, if its got the 280Z Type bumpers its late.
  17. We just had an entire thread about getting stuck head bolts out of the block. Go buy these: They're called bolt extractors. Shouldn't be difficult, just drill into the broken off stud and extract. Jehannum, Come on, is this a Vee Dub Forum?? ["Take it to a machine shop"]
  18. Heh 220 posts and RWD is new to you? The LSD R200s out of the Z31s and other Nissans get complicated because they have a different spline count and the fact that they mount differently [No mustache bar] and require a different cover. That's a simplification, of course - I've never actually done it, only read about it here. I have seen a Z31 diff though [i've got one ] This is a good thread, check it out: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=103512&highlight=differential+list
  19. ^ Ha. After driving my Z31 for a while, I couldn't find third a couple of times in my S30. The car looks really good.
  20. Hopefully this will clean up the For Sale section, thanks for the new rules and watching out for us, guys.
  21. ?? Get the R200, the 280Z R200 half shafts, and the 280Z Mustache bar [and while you're taking it apart purchase a R/T diff mount]. Step 1: Take out R180 Step 2: Put in R200
  22. I've taken 3 L28s apart, one with a BHG and I've never heard of that until this thread. I don't think it's a common problem, but I could be wrong. Don't be afraid to take apart your motor!
  23. I'm thinking they are feaux numbers.... A 1973 260Z?
  24. Before BRAAP gets here... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=131518 What is your question btw?
  25. "Head kits" Haaahah I love these guys.... OS Giken makes a DOHC head - there was a thread recently that mentioned them...
