  1. I was on the interstate and was getting lean a little under 6000, I figured it was somewhat normal due to my stock EFI. Yours is a carbd L24 though, right? If your plugs are white then you're running lean but you said up there that they were 'sooty'
  2. A butt dyno is not a good way to diagnose a car. Are you asking about the clutch or how your car doesn't 'pull as hard?' Check the fluid levels in the tranny. Also you might need to bleed the clutch or replace the slave cylinder. They go out often.
  3. If that doesn't work, test your fuel pressure, you can get an inline gauge from AutoZone/Orielly's or wherever you shop. Just run it right after the fuel filter. I had a really rusty gas tank and went through about 5 fuel filters within a year, you might also check that while you check the fuel pressure. *edit* Didn't see your post while I was writing this. Glad you fixed it!
  4. I'm not saying you're wrong, but that's painting with a wide brush IMO "The members of HybridZ pride themselves on the friendly, open atmosphere in the forums. 5. Do it!! ^ My exhaust is crushed a bit under the car and I was hoping you would find your exhaust to be the problem, so that when I got a new header-back on mine it would help with the power some. Wishful thinking I suppose. Is that ricer-ish of me? Glad to hear it's running well, see you in a couple of weeks
  6. Yes there are plenty of threads about this, and much good information. Try to browse the stickies first. The first thing that popped into my head was you'll need the L28ET oil pump as well [as well as a list of other random things]
  7. L28s are plentiful and there's no good reason to turbo an L24 or L26 unless you just feel like it... Did you do a compression test?
  8. Cursing is really frowned upon here for the most part, I'm surprised the editor didn't catch it. Please clean it up. You say 'great condition' - does that mean you've done a compression test, or are you using the butt dyno to judge that? A member here, Forrest, is running a turbo on an L26 in his 78 Black Pearl. The motor was throw together by the PO and I can't tell you very specific details, but the motor did fairly well considering what it is. I have only worked with L28s so I might be wrong, but the EFI manifolds use a different bolt location than carbs, so you will most likely be looking at getting an L28E head. The P79s and P90s have a larger combustion chamber and would be best for a turbo setup. This thread should be helpful, it has pictures of all [well, most] of the L6 heads, with descriptions. You can find out what head you have my finding the number stamp on the spark plug side towards the pulley side of the motor. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=129066 I would definitely suggest EFI, carb'd blow throw setups are hard to find and not really conducive to tuning. Check out the Turbo Stickies in the turbocharger section, as well as the Megasquirt threads. Good luck on your project
  9. I left two injector o-rings off when I shaved my manifold and my car ran like crap  Just remembered that, if that doesn't fix the problem you should go back and make sure one or two didn't fall out.
  10. I noticed a big difference at highway speed from the stock 280 valence and bumper to the MSA Type 1. The car felt 'floaty' at speed and was a bit scary for not being familiar with the car. The car now feels much more planted up front.
  11. Search is your friend:lmao: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=1021133#post1021133
  12. I've seen this car in person Glad to see you've been making progress!
  13. Tragic. In Baton Rouge we got a 78 parts car that had a Holley 750 on an L28 that had sent cyl 4's rod through the intake side of the block, and we were very surprised. I suppose he lost oil pressure. Good luck on the project, you'll find another one I'm sure.
  14. I love the BRE air dam, looks real old school. Got any pictures of your car? Slotted Mags look great as well if you can get some.
  15. Heh Yeah, the freezing rain got in through the vents and froze. My headers and intake manifold were covered in ice. Cranked right up, though. The Scoches have worked well for me though, my FLs would come loose at least once or twice a week and kill my battery.
  16. Hello, I know you were looking for the stock Fusible Links, but Trumpet and I are running the Scoche block conversion and it has been much more reliable than the FLs. The only picture I have of mine is after the Ice Storm in February: If you're over in Fayetteville give us a holler, we both daily our S30s [Mine's parked when it rains though]
  17. Search around in the suspension forum, The tokico springs on my S30 are a bit loose when the car is jacked up, but apparently it is not a problem as the suspension will never travel that much while driving. How much play is there?
  18. I'm not a fan of anything but straight paint on cars, with the exception of 'racing stripes.' However I love the murdered out scheme . If my RBs weren't so nice they'd be black.
  19. Yes, as a matter of fact I do. There is a little button on the top blue strip on every page called the 'search' button, and most of your questions are already answered somewhere in the forum. I'd also advise reading the stickies, there is really good information in them.
  20. Do you have another car now? 'Swapping cams' and other things like that might involve a bit more time and work than you are thinking right now.
  21. If you don't have a set goal you will be buying parts you won't need or use down the line and will be wasting money. How long have you owned the car?
  22. A cam can range from ~ $500-$1000 for the entire kit. Are you trying to build a quick NA motor? From what I've heard the 'bang for the buck' is nothing compared to a turbo swap.
  23. That's unfortunate, I hope you get the issues ironed out. I am going to attempt to run the stock EFI with a wideband [for tuning purposes], partly because I have the stuff to do it, partly because I'm cheap, and partly because then I'll have done it myself. I'm glad to see the Z is seeing some road time again, I can't wait to dig into mine as well!
  24. Those are some pretty sweet cars there Send me some full size versions of the pictures I'd like to play around in PS with them.
  25. Good luck! Do you have any spare AFMs? I have about 3 or 4 so I actually adjust the spring rate on mine to get the AFR in range. It's usually frowned upon but I have several so if I mess one up it's not a problem.
