Can Someone Help with Shipping to Australia?
Nizm0Zed replied to RB26powered74zcar's topic in Non Tech Board
lol, watch that other end of the world quip, or i'll sic a kangaroo on ya!! yea, postage sux, and you guys seem to have all the best bits. maybe it'll get to a point where we collectively (Aus and NZ) hire half a shipping container and freight in bulk once a year???? -
perhaps you could use something with a little more heat output to warm your engine? like thermite? may affect other subsystems, like your drivebelts, or paintwork, but hey, it'll make it nice and hot

yea, those toyotas are bloody robust. There was an article i saw in the local paper once, of a family that owned a corolla from new, one of the old school ones, and passed it down over 3 generations, it clocked up a million kms on the original engine and driveline. I was searching for it, but couldnt find it, but did find this one. http://www.pressroom.com.au/press_release_detail.asp?clientID=2&prID=742 million kms in a landcruiser

its a possum. common marsupial down here on the wrong side of the globe. they scratch, growl, get into roofs and rubbish, and just generally hang around. mostly nocturnal, but occasionally spotted during daylight hours.

This will more than likely end up in the tool shed, but its amusing while it lasts type 'find chuck norris' into google and hit the "I feel lucky" button.

NOS Datsun Nissan Comp Race Fender Flares on Ebay
Nizm0Zed replied to RB26powered74zcar's topic in Non Tech Board
Whats wrong with profiteering??? If you are willing to make and sell some flares, and people are willing to pay large amounts of money for them, then good for you, Its a successful business proposition. Its life, get used to it. -
there is a beautiful C110 skyline, with a custom Rb20 red top triple weber conversion in it. these last two are just car porn for the sake of it

looks to small to be a deer, maybe more like a fox?

id say get the shop manual to suit your body shell. you'll inevitably change engine stuff anyway, and if you do, (from what i know of your emissions laws) the dome top 240 carbs are the ones to start with. there is a huge wealth of knowledge here to help you out with any little bits the manual will be missing.

how can you tell if my car has aftermarket cam?
Nizm0Zed replied to 1sick72z's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
"how can you tell if my car has aftermarket cam?" I cant, my magic 8 ball is broken. However, you can, with some simple measurements. Take your rocker cover off, and look at the cam lobes, now, if you can, get in there with some verniers and measure the height of the lobe, from the unmachined part of the cam to the tip, then do the same on the opposite side of the cam with the 'flat' of the cam, and minus that from your first measurement. its not accurate by any measure, but will cive you a close enough figure when compared to the standard spec for the camshaft lift to tell whether its a hot cam or not. But if you did want to do it accurately, you'd need to measure the lift and duration of the entire lobe with a dial indicator and degree wheel. sometimes you can do it in the car, but 90% of the time, its done with the cam out. -
so then, still on topic, but a little bit off, how would a GT3271 go? Just picked one up for $50 in excellent condition, its going on a L28. From what ive seen of the compressor maps, she should be pretty well sized? http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT32/GT3271_452203_1.htm

hello, I am in Aus, (ACT) and i was a Rego inspector. Im not going to say that my knowledge is complete, But you should definately be able to import and register your car as a LHD model. I have seen a few LHD mustangs getting around, and to my knowledge, all they had to do was put a LHD sticker on the back of the car. We had a soldier who was stationed overseas bring his Honda van over with him, and it was a LHD 2001 model, he regoed it no probs, only had to make a few small changes for compliancing, like changing the park lights from amber to white. What state/city are you looking to go to? I can try and track down some contact number and Email addy's for you to question.

Electrify the mirrors, then set up a camera in a mates car nearby watching over, then post it on youtube for us all to laugh at

I noticed that many of you all drive reasonably new, (and i guess reasonably expensive) DD's. Is it more an age thing? Im taking a stab here that the average age is around the mid 30's? I know im still young at 25, but still, i cant see the point in spending decent money on a DD for me, as its money i can spend on my REAL car, my wife on the other hand, i'll buy her a new car so i dont have to worry about it. Are those cars your all driving over there cheap and easily accessable? Or is it more of a case that there are no old, cheap reliable cars left, so your stuck spending a bit more?

simply awesome. the only way it could be better is if they were female, and jelly was involved. (yes, i have issues)

I drive a R31 skyline. 3L RB powahhh!!!!!! but no turbs. It cost me $400, and its mostly reliable. best part is i dont care if it gets damaged, so if something is in the way, like a shopping trolley, i just knock it over. I have had a lot of cheap daily's, usually i find them through friends Ect, and i generally drive them till the rego runs out, and strip and sell them. usually the proceeds go to a new shi!!er, but i often get quite a few parts out of them that can be adapted to other projects. Probably my criteria for a daily would be; Good on fuel generally mechanically sound (im a qualified mech, so i can fix a lot easliy) NOT cop bait. anything else is a bonus. one of my disposable cars didnt have a stereo for 8 months, needless to say, i got good at singing to myself (well, i thought so anyway)

id like to see the pic of your gauges on facebook, but you need to log in to view it, and i haven't been given my Emo password.

yea, id say thats a good theory, they are such Sexy cars!!! I know i will park next to nice cars, even if im driving a daily, as i know i have respect not to damage them, and i know for a fact they wont damage mine. TrumpetRhapsody, Even though she did deserve it completely, i still had to tell myself that several times after the event, as the guilt of purpously damaging someone elses car was pretty big. I really dont like people with no respect for others belongings.

i was parked in a spot once in my $100 special, a chrysler lancer that was lucky to still be running, sitting with the windows down, with an empty spot next to me, and a nice black Lexus IS200 next to that. a woman comes into the spot, opens her door into the lexus quite hard, as i heard it clearly. i get out to make sure she leaves some details and she just says "look at that car, they can afford it" I leave a note for the lexus driver with my details, and a description of her and her car rego, along with time and date. Next, i leave a note on her car saying "can you afford this? Karma is a bitch" I get into my car, and reverse out of my spot, dragging my bumper almost all the way down the side of her car. about an hour later i get a call from the lexus driver, saying thanks for watching out for his "baby" as its pretty much all he was left with after a recent messy divorce, right at the end of the convo he adds, "thanks mate, Karma really is a bitch"

Definately need a turbo, bot dont worry about the exaust, and after a few months of revving the ass off it at 1:00am you'll find that the sucky neighbours will move away, generally the only people who would tolerate loud revving engines are car people, so its win win, you get better neighbours, AND a kick ass turbo zed.

take one of those weak floppy fridge magnets, like what plumbers and salesmen give to you, they dont stick to rust too well, or bondo. good for checking. but yea, do it, save another one form oblivion.

I would say that if you have something going for you that you enjoy, and has potential for better things, then it is wise to try and keep with it. I dont know what sort of distances are involved, but nothing is really that far, besides, seeing as we are in the electronic age, it is much easier to stay in touch between visits. Having to stand up and control your own life, away from your comfort zone will make you a stronger and wiser person, and this will reflect in your work, again increasing your potential for greatness. your school education can only take you so far into the workplace, after that, it is what you do, and how you do it that counts. As for your church, im sure you will find one in your new area that is just as welcoming, and supportive to you. I moved to a small town with my wife as she was going to uni nearby, we were 4 hours away form everyone we knew, and we thought it was a crappy little country town full of rednecks. With that attitude, the first few months absolutely sucked. but once we began to embrace our new home, and make friends, we found that the people were better, and the town was better than the stereotype we had first assumed. 4 years later, we have moved back to the city and we are back amongst some of our friends and family, but we both miss the 'country life' and would love to go back there, in our case, there isn't enough work to warrant it, or a good enough schooling system for our son, but its definately on the list of places to move later in life. dont discount the pro of a lower cost of living, that can add up to a VERY big thing, just a bit extra each week can easily be put towards some more luxuries, or more regular visits back to family.
