Very interesting concept, but yea, potentially heavy. If i were to design something from scratch (even if its just a scratch built head for a certain straight 6) I would probably spend more time in trying to encompass 'proven' ideas straight from top level motorsports type motors. That or try to find a way to control airflow in and out of the cylinder that doesnt have a restrictive valve head in the way...

Like every high quality gaming seat, its lovingly hand built using high quality (sarcasm) expensive leftovers from other projects. But anyway, back on topic, im learning how to left foot brake, but i dont get enough practise, i spend too much time on my bike... However, i hate with a passion "soccer mum left foot brakers" There the ones you see cruising along in their automatics with the brake lights lit up because they are so lazy they rest their foot on the pedal.

You need to ask how to use twitter???? showing your age??? In reality, i refuse to use twitter/facebook/myspace ect ect because i cant easily figure it out, and dont want to admit that i am actually getting old and may not be 'cool' anymore because im not part of the 'social' generation. meh, i have a damn nice garage, plenty of tools, and nice cars to turn a spanner on, i dont need twitter

^^^^ But most of it is bugs. Bugs burn right? i put them in a mates rollie once, he didnt think it was funny, but they did burn... But in all seriousness, Dirt/dust doesnt burn, it carbonizes in the cylinder, leading to increased wear.

iPod/smart phone > speakers...no headunit???
Nizm0Zed replied to TurboSE's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
lol, in that case, buy her some decent earphones. She can listen to the ipod herself and she wont ruin the drive by talking to you.... -
iPod/smart phone > speakers...no headunit???
Nizm0Zed replied to TurboSE's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
yep, it'll work fine. If you want to leave it as a more permanent setup thought, you should put a switch inline in the remote wire, otherwise your amp will allways be switched on, and will drain your battery flat while the car is off. -
Absoulute GOLD!!! have to say, i am guilty of some of that 'thinking' in my earlier days, i try not to keep that mentality now though. I remember getting yelled at by the foreman because i couldnt diagnose a difficult suspension problem fresh out of school. maybe due to in-experience??? as for the peter principle, it goes one step further for our public service here in oz, basically, once an employee has a permanent position there is only 3 ways out, either make it so hard that they quit themselves (rare, with all the benefits) make thier position redundant, meaning you have to pay out all their entitlements and give them a package when leaving, Or, the most common one, promote them into another department, which then removes the problem into someone elses hands. Out of sight, out of mind. Basically, the leading postions in our public service are filled with morons...

so after all these brilliant words of wisdom, where is the said story of fail????

how about, "If there is a warning on the label, then your not the first idiot to do it" told to me by my father after an embarrasing incident involving expanding foam. dont ask, i really wont tell...

yea, id beleive it. the v6 magna's are known for top end problems amongst others, but ultimately they must have a good product if they can offer a warranty like that and not go bust. maybe its just that you kiwi's cant drive

mitsubishi australia has been doing that for the last few years, 10 years/160,000kms on the engine/powertrain, and 5 years/130,000kms on everything else.

start your weekend off in kings cross, after about 1am on a friday night it really starts to get 'fun' hmm, dora creek is a couple of hours north of sydney. quite close to newcastle though, there are a few blokes in newcastle with some real nice zeds. might pay to drop a line on the oz forums like AusZcar and meet up with them??

from what i can see on the ACL website, they have the same part number for the exhaust manifold gasket. So id say yea, it'd bolt on.

??? a zx getting towed? Dont they break down alot anyway???? jokes boys....

if your going to spend money on a throttle body, perhaps you should consider upgrading at the same time? get added performance and an item with less kays on it. otherwise, try a workshop that re-bushes dizzy's, they should be able to rebush a throttle body, the bushes are very similar.

Problem: Oil POURING out of the coolant inlet on the block
Nizm0Zed replied to Sideways's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
so how much oil is left in the coolant passages? and will it mix with the coolant when you put some in, turning to a nice caramel consistency once its warmed up and blocking your radiator core nicely? i'd be doing everything i can to flush it all out. -
Could you sell your car to a blithering idiot?
Nizm0Zed replied to Kevin.pk's topic in Non Tech Board
you'd get $15k easy for your car in oz. i guess at the end of the day though, it is just a car, and once you have cash for it, its not your car. The main thing i would consider is whether the cash value is enough to justify that attitude towards it. if it has great sentimental value, hold onto it till it rots away to nothing. (or you go to the great racetrack in the sky) -
heheheee, and you didnt shave one of his eyebrows while you had the chance???

isnt that basically how the turbo tom setup was? oil feed isnt a prob, the centre part will rotate just fine. http://www.airpowersystems.com/g8/g8_itt.htm the APS turbo setup linked appears to have the oil drain on the turbos lower (or level) with the bottom of the sump, so obviously the turbos can work with the oil drain under pressure. i wonder though if the turbo's are modded specifically for that? as for the wastegate flange, the stock manifold is cast steel, you can weld a steampipe section to it and bolt your wastegate onto that. (or just use an internally gated turbo) obvioulsy its not really viable on the US Left hand drive models, but on mine (RHD), i have moved my battery, and will now use the large empty space for my pod filter. It'll be easy to box the area off, and feed cool air from a vented inspection cover. edit, just another thought, the turbo probably sits too high for the stock inlet manifold to bolt on now, so maybe you'd have more of a chance with a custom built manifold? At least then you could smoothly incorporate the wastegate flange, as well as moving the turbo forwards a bit more to allow more room around the compressor.

please dont take this the wrong way, im not trying to disuade you, BUT, Why bother with a L series motor???? Just because its cheap? It'll cost you a lot more to go that way. If your keen on putting a straight six in your S13, use a RB series block. Ultimately you'll make more power, and it'll be easier. That conversion itself has been done a lot of times before, so you'll find it alot easier to search for soloutions for your problems. If you do go that way, look around on some of the other forums. Heres some links to get you started. http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/74700 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb26-S13-Silvia-t233752.html http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=341380 http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=343445
