  1. Nevermind him they look ok to me, alot of us dont like the stockers or other swaps...corvette, skyline, 300zx etc its a "to each his own" and thats how people should treat it. If you dont like them theres no reason to post your opinion this isnt the lounge this is a tech section so if you have advice on the install or pics post away but keep your opinion to yourself especially if you can even make a proper sentence out of it.
  2. Yeah but where is the z and zx stuff...looks to me like he came on this site with alot to offer but isnt offering much to us yet? I'd love to see some camber plates from him for very cheap since he has access.
  3. Damnit i was going to buy it with my college loan i was just accepted for! Damn you! I mean who needs school when you have a car like that,sh!t i could sit back and do nothing for 20 years and get 100k+ at barrett jackson for it.
  4. Hah why dont you take one of those bargain motors, bore/hone it, stick bigger .40 flat top pistons in it (that will run you 600-1k) then take the head off order all new valves/springs/retainers,bigger cam/ as well as a valve job...etc) that will run you easily 1k-1500 and then you'll only be out 2-3k for a "brand new" rebuilt engine that will be amazingly fresh and perfect with as much n/a (non stroked) power you can get (unless you port/polished it, which you can then add another 750-2k. And it will just be in the machine shop for a few months and im sure theyll add some on for assembly and everything else, go ahead and buy some lube, i'll pitch in the 5 bucks for it...whats your paypal. Good luck otherwise with you original idea, might as well buy/build a stroker with that 3-5k youll be spending, but yet im sure you're only looking to spend 1k or so if that on here arent you?
  5. i was about to say i have no cat and it runs fine (even though i dont have to pass smog a buddy tested it). Simple fix would be go egr less and get a header and clean up all those hoses and better performance or just get a n/a exhause manifold without a port if you dont want to buy an aftermarket.
  6. Haha maybe he sold it? Geeeesh way to be so negative!
  7. I'm not sure on the silver but on white gold wheels are teh sexxx. Look at a few members here that have the setup or ofcourse this car from way back. The only thing i HATE about the works...is the offset and size. Theyre 15's and bad offsets for our cars (you have to run a big spacer) which is a huge reason i cant pull the trigger on such an expensive wheel that's custom but yet i cant get the offset i want.
  8. No problem here getting hoosier r6's in a 245 50 15 if im looking for comp tires (since you said "track" and i got a BFG TA (for 88 bucks a piece) in 245 60 15 (thicker sidewall for more flex on the street or track and is almost the same overall height/size as your 245-45-17)....looks like i have pretty good luck. And ofcourse its easier to find sizes in the 17 im just saying they still make them in 15 and i like a smaller wheel on a lowered car (coils arent installed yet) and when i step to a 17 i'll be going with the rota g/b on here and running my coils with flares...just wanting to keep it stock for now incase i sell it vs. cutting the body up to somone who wants a stock body. And i dont know why you bring up what "stock" wheels are...because obviously youre not looking for "stock" and most of us dont run 14's unless theyre just putting around (like my two sets, one for city/trips, the other is bare). But again in a 17x8inch wheel on a stock body z the better offsets to fill out the well/fender (even with the extra room from your coils) is going to be 0 thru a -5 to -10 without spacers and will still allow you to run a fat tire like a 245-255.
  9. its a good thing we dont own civics or we would be realllly mad in a few nights lol haha my old zx (this was mannnnyyyyy cars ago in 06-07ish and before i got rid of the turbo probe thats lurking around the corner of the house)
  10. why would you want a positive offset? FYI i have 15x8's with about a -13 offset and they fit sexy as a mother with a verrryyyy rolled roll of the fender lip (in the back) the front fits but ofcourse i rolled it so they looked uniform. i dont get why you wouldnt want to fill out the fender by going with a wimpy offset???? pics for reference of the 15x8 -13
  11. Here are some 9.5's on a stock 77 280z BIGGGG stick-ing-out, (took these 1yr ago +) and thats at stock height and i promise you they rubbed
  12. Sounds good, id suggest becoming a sponsor or just starting a group buy, i think you will have plenty of demand especially if it looks as good as the quality youre making now, just find somone to do it in carbon as well and BAM youre in there and us "other" guys will finally get a good fitting product. Email me when you get it rolling i'd definately help start it up with you jeffdahot1@hotmail.com -Jeff
  13. 1st. If youre only making 300whp on a turbo youre doing it wrong or have a small budget. 2nd. Ive been in both and the turbo car was running a bigger turbo and didnt spool at 2500 therfore the stroker was quicker. Ofcourse if youre pushing a stock t3 to 300whp then its inefficient and hurting/going to blow faster than a motor. 3rd. Yes we're talking about gas engines not a turbo diesel on an 18wheeler (you cant even compare the two). 4th.Theres many differences in boost(much less boost vs spray), period (supercharged vs turbo). Either way if youre making good power you will have lag longer than 2500 or so which is where his car starts pulling hard all the way to 7k+. But spray is even in some cases better than boost because you can spray off the line but to do so with boost you would have to have a huge stall on a turbo auto or a 2step. But like i said....try and put together a turbo setup for 1k which is what he has in this stroker/tripple setup and i promise you his motor will be faster, last longer, less parts to fail,no tuning efi, boost controller, timer to save the turbo, wastegate/turbo failure (boom goes the motor/turbo) etc etc. Dont get me wrong i love turbo cars, had many and will eventually tubo the stroker i have (haha that i bought with that bob sharp parts car for UNDER 1k) but for the money that we both have spent these stroked motors are great for having all you power there and not having to deal with/worry about all the extra bs that the turbo motors come with. But when i go turbo its going to be gt3076 or gt35r so 300whp will be on lowww boost.
  14. so how bout making those bumpers for some of us budddd??
  15. phil throw me some money....ill run a route in my nikes =)
  16. Haha i have to just laugh at this...have you ever ridden in a 300whp stroker as well as turbo? Not even close, the stroker makes power off the line and the turbo has to spool. Now if i was building a car its all about what you want but when he only paid 1k for that stroker motor you sure as hell cant compare a 1k turbo to that power level, much less last as long as the stroker (turbo seals ect). I just rode in a friends 340whp honda hatch (gsr turbo on 15#) and that car is a totally different story between a stock 2+2 auto zx. But i can say that my old 78 (poor chaps been chopped up and put into 3 cars lol) with suspension, bolt ons (header, intake, pallnet rail, fpr, and some timing), as well as a dual friction/fidanza 10.5 flywheel combo smoked the crap(2-4cars) out of zx's on 12-15#'s and murdered a 300zx on 12#(like 2-3 busses)...from a dead stop, ofcourse from a roll it wasnt as bad (maybe 1 car better for them) but it still wasnt close and i was N/A! I've had turbo cars but there is nothing like a N/A (or supercharged) car, where all of the power is THERE when you put your foot to the floor instead of waiting on a big turbo to spool or a little t3 not making more than a 75shot difference.
  17. Please use the search function, there are plenty of answers on this already. Even one that still active in here as well as a GROUP BUY thread for wheels running those sizes, seriously from now on look first.
  18. I understand that but i really cant understand 5-6k for a zx....if my dad sold it for that id kill him. But yet turds like this "factory 2+2 slushbox turd-slow" get 7k bids? Really would you really rather not have a quicker stroker, only 2 seats, and a five speed not to mention all the upgrades and looks 100000X's better. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1983-DATSUN-280ZX-2-2-TURBO-T-TOPS-RED-INTERIOR-38K-MI_W0QQitemZ400074131572QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item5d2646c874&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245 Oh well thats why zx's make better dailys, they are nicer on the inside and alot more quiet.
  19. OH fellas.....you wouldnt pay 12k for this? quick stats, 5k on robello stroker, tripples, full tokico adjustables, eibach springs, msa sways, all new interior, brakes, hoses, everything pretty much with the rota 9 fronts 9.5 rears and black paint with a pearl clearcoat.
  20. sounds like your tank is full of crap...and that filter isnt working so well if the rail is clean and yet theres nothing in the filter but the injectors are clogged
  21. Are you wanting to sell the old motor and suspension, pm me if so...and looks like a nice quick project to me.
  22. Yes those are some very nice zx's especially that white one. It's nice that people get a good look at what one could be and realize its not really "all about the z's"
  23. "a more negative offset would put them farther into your fender" Wow guess you might want to actually read my post...If the wheels had a more negative offset like he's saying, then they would put even more of that 9.5 inches into the fender that its already close enough to if not rubbing already. If it was a less negative or a + offset it would push the wheel into his coilovers. SO, again if they were a -25 instead of -19 they would be even more pushed out and make the tires/wheels rub on the fender. I'd post pics of your car but its pretty simple to say its a "widebody" with a 7.5in wide wheel...I like your car but i dont think you should be talking about offset when you need alot wider tires, a more negative offset, or some big spacers to fill it out. Here's a prime examples (all are my cars except for dads zx) this is what a z's/zx's wheel fitment should look like...flush and filled out with No spacer, just a good fat wheel with a nice negative offset. 15x8 -13 offset 15x8 -30 and 15x10 -45 and rota 17x9 -13 and 17x9.5 -19
  24. hat to say it but not true, a more negative offset would put them farther into your fender here is my dads 80 280zx with tokico illuminas all around with eibach lowering springs and sways (suspension set-ups ofcourse affect the results but his are 9 fronts and 9.5 rears with 235 and 275 tires
