  1. Ah, yes, my first was trash-80 too...type III to be exact. It came back to haunt me in the early 90's while I was working for a tank calibration company. I had all kinds of flashbacks when I saw that machine in the corner of a back room. And, yep, they still used it. The calculations took 3 hours or so to run depending on the number of measurements input. I was too impatient to wait so I rewrote the code to a plain ol' Basic so it would run on our super fast 486 box. The program ran in like 30 seconds.
  2. I agree with Tony...sounds normal. I had a '76 that did exactly the same thing as you describe. My gauge was brokend and that little hesitation on left hand turns was a cue to stop at the next gas station and fill up .
  3. Apparently I dropped one of my injectors and chipped the plastic tip. What is the purpose of the black plastic piece. Will the chip significantly affect the performance of the injector? Thanks in advance for any help.
  4. No, but do some research. There is a reason Nissan and every other car maker now use more accurate ignition control.
  5. Check that your motor mounts bolts are tight and that the rubber is in good shape.
  6. You should be able to advance your timing. I think this thread answers your question.
  7. Cool! Post up pics of the rust free one too. I wish I had a quarter for every time I read that on this board...
  8. I wish I had data for you but I'm still building the car.
  9. Jeffp was putting out over 650 HP on a modified stock manifold. Couple that with the fact that the stock manifold is much more robust than most (all?) L6 turbo headers. I ended up selling my custom turbo header for those very reasons. I didn't ported my exhaust manifold as much as Jeffp. I opened up the turbo flange area as much as I could. There quite a bit of material in that location. At the exhaust ports I was afraid of thinning out the runners to much, creating hot spots and cracking. I just knocked off the high spots, smoothed out the transitions and called it a day. This thread is making me think twice about installing an intercooler. I personally don't care for intercoolers hanging off the front end and it sure would clean up the engine bay without all that piping going everywhere. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.
  10. Ozzy! They look really good. Should I just order from your website?
  11. I live near Houston and have only stopped on Lufkin on my way to somewhere else. As BLOZ UP alluded, there isn't much there in terms of city life. To get an indicator of life in Lufkin you have to read in between the lines on their website. The top picture is of their high school football team...not professional...not college, high school. It's a small town in the middle of the east Texas pine forest. If you like small town life, lake fishing, hunting, pick-up trucks and rodeos then its a place for you. The city of Nacogdoces and Stephen F. Austin University are nearby. Nacogdoces is a small college town where Stephen F. Austin university resides. Some of the students I knew from Houston complained about SFA being in the middle of nowhere (A.K.A. Nac-a-nowhere).
  12. Find a 8mm 12.9 (or grade 8 5/16") bolt with a shank long enough to pass thru the shear plane made by the mating flanges. Its not a good idea to put threads in shear.
  13. I would use the blues in the front. Why? Because that is what you have in the rear.
  14. I think they have offered it for less than a year. As the name implies it intercepts the coil signal and modifies it as necessary, kinda like a piggy a back ECU. They also built in a headphone jack to listen for knock.
  15. +1 Found this link about the Mercedes deployable roll bar: http://midsouthrescue.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/autobahn2.mpg
  16. I was sitting at a light, first car with a clear view of the intersection. The cars heading in the opposite direction had a green light in the turning lane to turn across traffic (in front of me) thru the intersection to a four lane road. The 350z had his top down and was riding the tail of a slow moving minivan thru the intersection. I still remember the seeing the guy, late 30's or early 40's with is sun glasses on. As they came thru the intersection the guy in the 350z gunned it as he tried to pass on the right. He lost control as the rear tires spun and the back end slid out. Th 350z shot forward at about 60 degrees relative to the centerline of the road and hit the front right fender of the minivan. The Z rolled off the front/side of the minivan as the rear of the car lifted almost straight up as it was it continued to roll then slammed down top side down. I could see the guy in the Z hanging by his seat belt and ducking his head as the car came down. This image is stuck in my head. His head and shoulders appeared to be well past the doors and rear hatch. As the car smashed down the windshield was flattened level with the doors and rear hatch. By the time I got back to the accident (I was in the far lane of a 6 lane road) there were already police at the scene. No one else was hurt. The lady in the minivan was really shaken up. Rather than get in the way I gave the the police my information and left. I thought for sure the guy was dead but I saw life flight helicopter flying by soon after I arrived a work. Hopefully he makes it. Lessons learned? Slow it down, be patient, don't act out of rage...
  17. Nathan - Thanks for the offer. I am looking for the stock brackets that pick up two bolts on the engine. I don't know if it matters but I need the rear bracket off an EFI engine. Ross
  18. As the subject says, I'm looking for both the front and rear engine hoist brackets. Shipping to 77586.
  19. Was the Woodruff key still in the nose of the crank when you reinstalled the pulley? Was the key, crank or pulley damaged? Sounds like a blown head gasket to me.
  20. I'm not sure if this is the one Tony is referring to... http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/gallery/image/13696-electromotive-devendorf-datsun-280zx-turbo-rt-may-1983-p1-of-6/
