  1. Yeah It hit me the wrong way as it wasnt constructive nor did it sound like Barts "advice" was given from exp. or first hand knowledge. Heck we all learn something new every day I Know I do!
  2. Unless you have much experience and Proof in going over 200mph, I would refrain from making blanket statements like this with out some sort of constructiveness behind them.. SO I guess ,do tell.. give your detailed instructions on what better air scoops and less excessive spoilers to use with data or proof behind them.. Have you ever been on salt flats? MUCH MUCH different then tarmac.
  3. HECK YEAH AUSTIN!! Congrats dude!! Couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.. Your made to do this sort of thing.. Truly is great news man..
  4. wholy crap! Not even sure if Chip Foose could touch that !!!
  5. Brad have you seen the compressor maps between the .50 trim and .60 trim? The .60 trim doesnt fit my preference quite as good as the.50 trim . Wheel size of the isn't the whole story on turbo's making power. Also take in account how the wheel was designed and how it works with the housings.(look at the GT2871R, super small turbo that can make tons of power.. A buddy of mine had one in his SR S13 and made over 400WHP easily. I know for a fact.. my Z did not hit full boost until 3800RPMs in 4th. It was later in second and third.. It has a 60 trim compressor wheel and a stage 3 76 trim exhaust wheel. I see what your saying about the stage 5 being more laggy but when talking with people who have run them, they really didn't think it was significant enough to warrant the stage 3. maybe sacrifice 100rpms. See how on the .60 trim you are on the left side of the Surge line for the desired boost and not in the large effeciency island while maintaining that boost? now lets turn the boost up to 25psi. and see how the graph looks. with the .super.50 you are just going outside of the lbs per min on the very top end of your RPMS.. thats actually even some room to grow.. Now lets look at the .60 trim. Most of your time you will not be at all in the efficiency of this wheel.. Now if your talking about the 60-1 wheel now that is alittle different.. it does match with our cars rather well.. here is the map for the 60-1 wheel at 20psi. Now lets look at it at 25psi. even in the 60-1 wheel you notice your outside of the large island of efficiency at that boost level. Am I missing the boat on this? am I not reading these right or just totally off? heh I am really new at this and doing as much research as I can about turbo's..
  6. Hey Drax, have you had a chance to find out if you like the "A" cam yet? since Im going with a new turbo here I found a "A" cam and will be putting it in as well. I hear its pretty good. Not huge gains but allows you to rev out and make a little more power up top where the turbo cam falls on its face.
  7. Actually you might find the stage 5 is WAY more efficient with very minimal loss in spool. Ask Garrett or Austin.. both had the stage 5 exhaust wheel. you may sacrifice 100 RPM spool for much more efficient flow. I'm basically looking for a all around turbo.. and I personally believe I have found it.. borg warner S256 or GT3076R.. only problem with them is cost.. next best thing I have come up with is the To4E super 50 compressor side and .63 AR stage 5 exhaust side. From mine and my buddy ray who knows a great deal more about turbo's then myself.. It will spool up nice( should get 19-20psi by 34-3500 even in second gear) Im going to give it a go..I will report back with how it works.
  8. Heck yeah! that was awesome! great find Phil.
  9. It is a stage 3 wheel on the exhaust side. It is a nice turbo but it would be much more suited to drag from what noticed personally. I did autocross it and it seemed 1st gear was too low and 2nd gear didnt even allow me to open the gate. It did ok.. but not great. The cam Im about to put in my Z is a Non turbo "A" cam. its supposed to allow me to make power close to 6500rpms from what I have researched.
  10. Wow, I have not ever seen the shafts break there! lol usually its the U joints that let go. I imagine with your power and depending on the .60 ft .. it should run mid low 11's
  11. My current turbo that is up for sale right now was a t04E 60 trim. I didnt get full boost in 4th until 3800.. 1st only saw 15psi, 2nd saw full boost around 5K.
  12. I wanted to bring this thread back to life, After using the Squirrel Performance website, It looks like the Super.50 trim would be the ticket with boosting up on the lower side of 3Krmps and still have enough to flow on the top end. The turbo Im looking at going with will have a.63 exhaust housing with a stage5 wheel. But looking at this site it looks like the T61 compressor wheel would be awesome. I just have a hard time believing that as the T61 wheel is kinda large!. thoughts? My goal is( would like full boost 19-20psi in 2nd or 3rd by 34-3500RPMs) and still have enough on the top end to rev to 6500. I have looked at the compressor map for the S200 bullseye turbo and if I had the money.. I think that turbo is the Ticket for our L28 engines. could someone check my calculations on it to make sure Im not off my horse here.. the wheels I was looking at are the to4E super50, T61, 60-1 and of course LOVE the GT3076R, and bullseye S200. http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/index.php?version=4&target_peak_power=380&pr_ref=14.5&engine_disp=2.800&engine_disp_factor=0&target_af=12&bfsc=0.47&max_ic_loss=2&rpm_redline=6500&rpm_peak_power=5500&rpm_max_boost=3400&rpm_min_boost=2800&vol_1=75&vol_2=82&vol_3=87&vol_4=82&vol_1=75&vol_2=82&vol_3=87&vol_4=82&intake_temp_1=90&intake_temp_2=92&intake_temp_3=110&intake_temp_4=118&turbo_n=1&map_sel0=58
  13. Hey Evan, This turbo has a pretty small compressor map. You can use this site squirrel Performance and kinda get a idea to what you are looking at. Does the surge clear up at a certain RPM?(my guess is around 5 Krpms)? You will see the surge line to the left. If at any time you are over in that area, thats when you will get the surge. so if third gear is a really long gear and your at say 300 and nail it.. you could be over in that area until the higher RPMs to where the turbo is working for you. here is the link to the site. you can punch all of your data in and see what turbo combinations are good for you http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/index.php?version=4&target_peak_power=375&pr_ref=14.000&engine_disp=2.800&engine_disp_factor=0&target_af=12&bfsc=0.47&max_ic_loss=2&rpm_redline=6500&rpm_peak_power=5500&rpm_max_boost=3200&rpm_min_boost=2800&vol_1=75&vol_2=82&vol_3=87&vol_4=82&vol_1=75&vol_2=82&vol_3=87&vol_4=82&intake_temp_1=90&intake_temp_2=115&intake_temp_3=120&intake_temp_4=125&turbo_n=1&map_sel0=68
  14. Mine did this same thing, I had to basically kick my ECU lol.. I think the connection get loose over time or something.. I would have to unplug the ECU clean the contacts and then it would work again.. Might want to try just another ECU to see if that solves it.
  15. Yes, I still have him in my friends list on MSN.. he was a great kid and will be missed Bobby.
  16. Jason aka Sweetthing_2_5Jason has passed away. I was doing some research and came across this thread over on Zcar.com He has attended SEZ and I remember him and his dad very well. Very good people and they will be in my prayers. Here is the link to Zcar.com http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/4/2072398
  17. Phil! GREEN IS MEAN!! very cool man!! cannot wait to see it all together again.
  18. Hey Jeff I thought that as well but didnt want to post anything until I knew 100%..
  19. Hey Jaybee, Im not far at all from you.. just over in Mobile AL, bout 50 miles west of you. Another thing you might consider when choosing a block is the type of distributor, the turbo motors came with the a much better distributor and I believe a better oil pump. Also the turbo oil pan has the oil drain inlet already there. My setup is a turbo block, F54 with forged JE dished pistons, P90 head and a 1mm nismo HG. My compression should be in the 8.0:1 range. We have quite a few Z nuts over here in mobile hit me up on PM and maybe we could meet up.
  20. You might get a much better response if you post this wanted to by in the parts wanted section under classifieds instead of a 2 year old thred.. click link... http://forums.hybridz.org/forumdisplay.php?f=143
  21. Yeah Cool episode for sure!!.. They were on a island off of spain for that rally..
  22. I got a set of Ebay HID's and so far they are working great!
