The above directions note that there is a C clip to remove and then the Tripod comes off. Well with the axles I have. There is NO C clip and it looks like they are pressed on. Please see pics. Im trying to get my Z back together so I can DRIVE the thing lol.. Please help.. Also one other question. and I searched for it. What Ft lbs do you TQ the CV companion flanges to? Please see pics of my CV axles to see what Im working with.

  4. I have welded both on a lincoln and miller. Miller all the way! With the lincoln you only get heat ranges like ABCD.. so if A is to cold you have to switch to B.. and B could be too hot.. With a miller the heat ranges are a rheostat and you can make tiny adjustments. You will pay more for the Miller but you wont regret it. Also heard Hobart welders are great. I think they use Miller internals.
  5. Hey Eric looking good man!! Cant wait to see it all done. Sounds like you have just been going non stop since you left AL and went to CALI.
  6. A buddy of mine had a No2 spraybar on his turbocharged S2000. when dyno tuning the car the spray bar didnt really do much at all.. Although swapping the shot to spray inside the motor is a whole nother story.. The car puts down 586rwhp with the 2.2 ltr motor , 20psi of boost and a 65 shot of happy juice.
  7. If you are on a budget, then a T28 turbo is not for you. yeah you can pick up the turbo on the cheap.. 1. it will not give you the grins that you would get even with a stock T3 turbo. 2. It is T2 flanged and will NOT bolt up to the stock T3 flanged L28 exhaust manifold. So you would have to either find a adapter or have a T2 flange welded on the L28ET exhaust manifold. I ran a T3 for a few years and really liked the quick spool and its a fun turbo for autocross, But it fell on its face really quickly after 45-4700 RPMs. It is a great budget turbo though and will bring smiles to your face for sure!! chris51608:: for Fuel management on the cheap you can run Megasquirt and Spark. It is cheap and works fantastic! Or you could find a used SDS sytem or haltec system.
  8. Looks Great! What are the specs on the Compressor and exhaust wheels?
  9. Let us all know how it goes Mike, See if someone can get some video! Good luck!
  10. No guys he is putting a stock KA in there.. Great progress man! keep it up!!!
  11. Good deal! Cant wait to see what you find out. I just installed my NA cam this past weekend.
  12. If you are running 23psi and your AFRs are 12's thats just too lean for the L motor. I would maybe try backing the boost down to 20 and riching your fuel up to like 11.5- 11.7. See if that cure's your pinging problem.
  13. Having a T4 exhaust housing is going to slow spool down a good bit. Is there a AR number on it? should have like a .(insert number here) on it. Do you know what exhaust wheel they put in it? 36-3700 rpm's sounds reasonable for a full T4 turbo. It is a trade off from the T3. The T3 will have instant spool but fall on its face at like 5K. With this turbo it sounds like you have full spool by 3700 but I bet you can make more power closer to 6-6500rpms.
  14. LOL.. This thing will be laggy.. you wont get full 4500psi until 25,0000000000000000000 rpm
  15. my passenger side peice was rusted out if you remember when we did my engine bay. I was just barely able to weld in a new piece with out touching the 3 threaded nuts. Have you called Jon to see if he has this piece on a parts car?
  16. Non turbo Z31 axles are 6 bolts, the turbo Z31 axles are 4 bolts. The non turbo Z31 axles look very similar to the 280ZXT axles but are longer.
  17. yeah the conversion is really done well. I like the vert. Its different thats for sure!
  18. From what I have found. A thermostat is needed. If you run with out one, the water doesn't stay in the block long enough to transfer the heat and then goes through the radiator too fast and doesn't cool correctly. What Octane fuel are you running when boosting 24psi? That seems like a awful lot of boost on pump gas if you are not running meth or some other type of injection.
  19. Phil, that looks awesome Sir!.. cant wait to see it in person when Im in Dallas.
  20. Have you tried calling courtesy Nissan in Dallas? they have a good amount of OEM Z parts in stock. (800) 527-1909 or (972) 644-3942 Hope that helps ya out man.
