  1. I used mine last night for several hours. I'm diggin it!
  2. My MSD problem was resolved when Magnus (author of the MegasquirtNSpark code) rewrote a version of MSS for me that uses 50% dwell on the spark signal. That allowed MSD to run off the inverted output (like it is supposed to) perfectly. I did not end up needing an ignitor. Oddly enough, I TRIED to go another route by using the exact same ignition module moby is using. My only conclusion is that the one I bought was bad, because I never got it to spark. Ever. But MSD sparked fine when I grounded (and then ungrounded) the signal wire by hand, so I knew it was working.
  3. Good job on customer service thus far. I bought one of their LM-1 Wideband o2 meters while it was out of stock and paid for 2-day shipping, and they overnighted it to me the next day at no extra charge. Due to the complications with my MSS unit I haven't gotten a chance to use it but probably will tonight. 2 thumbs up to the company, though. -Forrest
  4. Hehe, "arp engine screws." I need some of those.
  5. Check your fusible links and negative battery terminal for corrosion.
  6. Jersey, when I get my MSS running correctly, I can recommend you put that in. 140$ in parts, total control over fuel and spark. Unfortunately I'm still having problems, so Moby will have to be your inspiration. If you wait a week or so I'll have it licked and if you run into my probelms I can help with those too. Baastad - MSD has improved people's track times over stock ignition. So that's not true. If the BTM unit allows you to run more boost with retarded timing, you can get more power using that, as well. Obviously you wouldn't be setting it to retard timing if you're not close to detonation already. And my flywheel is just fine. Did you drop your clutch a lot? A friend of mine shredded one of those ACT street discs in under a week. I personally don't know what all the fuss is about with the copper discs. I have not had any problem slipping it into gear. I drive around in heavy traffic - it's not a big deal. I was very surprised when I got installed, I expected it to be horrible. You just have to be gentle. I like it.
  7. Too bad there aren't real safety videos that are that cool.
  8. http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/transmission.html This applet tells you everything you asked and much more.
  9. Hahahahahahah! The evils of video games. I got my PS2 for 1 game and one game only: GT3 - looks like I will have another worthwhile game for it soon. Thanks for the line Bill! I can't wait! -Forrest
  10. Good deal I have one of those. I also have the longer barrelled nagant, but the shorter one is more manageable and more fun. Since the round is a nice round and really cheap, I actually shoot it most of the time I go out instead of letting it collect dust in the closet. It's not as much fun as this though:
  11. Not sure how accurate this is but if it helps, here is a spreadsheet I found online. I can't find the page I got it from now, but the guy had a 2650lb s30 (exact same weight as mine) so the default values are close. I am assuming the unsprung weight and distribution is roughly the same until I can do a better job of weighing mine. http://members.cox.net/forrestosterman/springrateselector.xls
  12. aux, the answer for you is to load a revolver caliber down to subsonic velocities and use a shotshell as the projectile. Obviously testing your loads somewhere else first would be a good idea. Pick your favorite caliber, .38 or .44 or .45LC (my personal favorite to experiment with) get some shotshells and go to town. No danger to your neighbors (unless they are up in the tree too) and you can keep the noise down.
  13. I see lots of statements, especially one ironically using the word "irrationality" with absolutely no logic or reason presented to back them up. Regardless of your opinions on current affairs, this editorial is tripe.
  14. That's what I was going to say - has to be Steven Wright. If you like his stuff check out Mitch Hedberg (I like him more because he's just more likeable.) One time I had an ant farm...those fellas didn't grow sh*t!
  15. I was very pleased after I initially installed this clutch - it's no big deal at all to engage it, the pressure plate might seem heavy for a little while but after you drive it for a week or so you won't even notice. If you're unnecessarily holding the clutch in all the time your driving technique might change, though. It rocks! Instant engagement, no break-in period.
  16. Your odds improve if you switch to the other door.
  17. http://www.studentz.co.nz/funnies/articles.asp?id=3830 Good stuff.
  18. It won't do anything except look shiny unless you HURRY UP AND INSTALL IT! -Forrest (king of installing stuff immediately and never procrastinating. ever.)
  19. ARRRRRRRRRRRGH! How could anyone do that to a Z? It's bad enough on 80's sedans!
  20. I have no idea what your transmission gearing is, but if you have the HP and you need more top end, sounds like the best thing to do is put in a slightly taller rear end, like 3.545.
  21. There is no need to burn out the rubber. You can heat the outside with a torch and pull the rubber out with vicegrips. It is much cleaner.
