    It this legit?

I can tell just by the page name that it is a big old scam, but I'll go check anyway. Went and checked: 1. The page was made in October. Scam 2. Patrick Reynolds just made his account Nov 27 and posted a bunch of pictures that same day. That's also sign of a scam. 3. Eddy Watson, the other admin, posted a bunch of brand new photos from different time periods all on the same day in the middle of October. Third sign of a scam. 4. Probably the biggest and most glaring clue other than the page age is that every single parts post that Patrick Reynolds makes has a different background. Different tables, different floors, different trees if it's outside. That's because they're all stolen pictures.
  2. Your car is already going to be pretty bold with the picture frame hood and the fully polished engine bay, so maybe it would be good to lean into that and go bold everywhere with the two tone. It might be on theme.
  3. I like the first picture where the hood and flares/skirts are black and the rest of the car is a color. I really dislike the top/bottom two tone in the other pictures. To me, it looks like those cars where guys put muscle car-style wheels, a cowl induction hood, and metal flake paint on a 240Z and try to make it look like a Camaro. That's a paint job for a classic pickup imo. I don't think it fits the car at all. That said, it's just my opinion. We all have different tastes. It's your car and you're the one that's going to see it every day. If you like the look and it makes you happy, then that's what matters.
  4. I can't tell from the tape what you're doing. Cutting a hole in the center of the hood for clearance? Making the hood into a donut or a U?
  5. Your work looks great. There isn't as much activity here anymore, but some of us are still watching closely. I really like the battery bracket. The more spread out the support is, the more secure you can make the battery without damaging it. I've always disliked the common OEM-style hold down bar.
  6. Oh I know, I just meant that most people only speak when they've got a good answer, and there are fewer people around now, so you're going to get fewer answers. It does suck how little activity there is these days. A lot of the experts aren't around anymore.
  7. There's a shop near me that has been advertising pre-buys for these bodies(and others). I get the impression that they're working with the manufacturer.
  8. I answer questions whenever I've got a good answer, but I haven't tried enough different sealers to be comfortable risking your engine on my recommendation.
  9. He does mention having to trim his stock valence a bit with the 245s, but 225s and you having an air dam is more clearance in two ways. Small chance of rubbing though.
  10. Here's a link to pictures of @ktm's car that has 245/50R16 tires, so you can see the diameter.
  11. You could step up to 225/60R15. They're a inch larger in diameter than your current tires, but I think stock diameter tires are a little small for the wheel wells anyway. Some guys run 245/50R16 tires, and a 225/60R15 is the exact same diameter, so I don't see why they wouldn't work.
  12. Please do post updates! It's always great to have another project thread on the site
  13. This is awesome. We haven't had a good engineering project on here in a while, so this is a good to see.
  14. Actually, it appears you can still buy kits! https://www.dkhardware.com/asp-a-16-105-auto-keying-kit-product-4838272.html?srsltid=AfmBOopXhi66Ub5objUsVLlPIOtGXJCK2Tf8aZSSusaSLkTvPvIAvVgg https://www.locksco.com/buy/product/New-keying-kit-for-Datsun/CLENC8ae41abfed476c50acd2d7916a7fb627 If neither of those are in stock or don't ship, Star Road sells a kit with blank tumblers and a file. https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/key-cylinder-re-key-kit-for-datsun-240z-260z-280z-make-matching-key-on-your-own
  15. Original locks can be rekeyed, but I know at least in the US, there are very few locksmiths that still stock the tumblers. If you're lucky you could maybe find an old school locksmith, or if you're very lucky you could find an old kit. If not, you can always file your own tumblers out of some brass sheet. Here's a write-up on the process of rekeying Datsun locks. https://ratsun.net/topic/47412-how-to-dissasemble-datsun-510-ignition-switch-and-rekey/
  16. I'm sure I'm far too late, but taking a magnet with to check for structural bondo is a good thing to do. You never know what someone has hidden behind paint.
  17. What is the name of the company selling brand new timing covers?
  18. A little more clearance wouldn't hurt, but I think that's fine if it never gets any closer. You'll have to periodically check that the line hasn't sagged or moved due to being under load and things expanding due to heat. What did you bend? The fitting?
  19. Close is one thing, but resting directly on the header isn't good. What's the line routing look like from factory? Does the header manufacturer have any pictures of it installed on an engine that you could use to figure out where they intended the drain to go?
  20. A single page is easy to do by just downloading the html from the menu. Doing the whole site you need to use some tools that will go through the whole directory and do each page individually for you. I haven't done it yet, so I haven't worked through it fully. If/when I do, I'll make a post so others can do the same.
  21. Yeah the broken thread links stink. The pictures might be even worse. I always upload my photos to the site rather than link to a hosting service. Threads that are 20 years old still work great if the poster did that.
  22. Whenever I answer something on Facebook that has been discussed thoroughly or answered on here, I try to provide a link and mention the name of the site. Maybe "brand awareness" will gain us a few users. I don't think it will ever come back, though. Attention spans are too short. I always have hoped that Dan would give a warning before shutting the site down so that I'd have a chance to download it in full. Maybe I should just start doing a backup every few months just in case that doesn't happen. There's too much valuable stuff here to lose it all.
  23. The branding on their cover annoys the hell out of me. Obviously advertising their name is fine, but using up a significant chunk of prime fin area is crazy. It's similar to T3/Apex/others laser cutting their logo into their plate metal parts in the least structurally sound way possible.
  24. Pac_Man hasn't been online in 8 years
  25. I always like seeing your updates on this. It's such a unique project. Please keep posting them.
