  1. Somehow that doesn't sound like it will work as the pistons will stick up slightly more than 2mm. It would leave zero space between the head and the top of the pistons. What head are you planning to use? I'm not sure if it would work, but have you though about taking 1mm off the top of flat top pistons? That would still give you over 9 to 1 comp ratio with a P90. Joe
  2. Mark, I'd go with a piston that comes up even to the deck and has a "D" shaped relief to bring compression down to where you want it. If you use a 33.3mm pin height and a 8.5cc relief, you will get somewhere close to an 8 to 1 comp ratio that has a good quench characteristics for detonation resistance. Oh btw, if you don't bore the cylinders your only going to get a 2.9 motor with the diesel crank. Joe
  3. Ohio huh? We'll pick ya up on the way to Indy for the 500! Joe
  4. Wow Garrett. Thanks for posting that thread! Did you see all the names on that thread? I sure miss seeing posts everyday from James, Scottie, Rick, JT, Norm, LockJaw, Yo, Stony, .... I liked seeing how everyone was trying something that hadn't been done before and shaking out the bugs on HybridZ. Now my interest is seeing how far guy's like you can take a turbo motor with stock head and cam! By the way, when exactly did your residence go from Chicago to Sarasota? Must have missed that one Yes, the good ol days
  5. Garrett, was it the spyder gears? It used to happen to me every time if I hit a bump in the road where I lost traction to one wheel. As soon as the wheel that lost traction regained traction again, pow, shattered spyder gears. So far so good with an LSD. Hasn't happened in the last six years using a clutch type or the Gleason. Joe
  6. Aren't those S/K carbs? They don't look like Weber carbs to me. Joe
  7. So when are we gonna start that restoration business? I figure the Patterson area to be a good central spot with cheap real estate. You know, right down there by the Horseless Carriage. All the big dollar boys could trailer their cars right to us. I'm only half kidding Len!
  8. Hi Vegasnative, yep, I'm using a P90 again. Joe
  9. It sounds like you must have received a few pretty good offers and I'm happy for you. What are the states that your looking at? Maybe other members could give you some info about the new locations. What are ya asking for the house? Maybe I'll get off my @ss and relocate myself!
  10. Chris, I have that kit in my V8 260. It consisted of the long tube headers (mentioned above), the "U" shaped engine mount spacers, and a flat piece of steel about 3/8" thick that was used as a spacer between the trans mount and the transmission used to set drive shaft angle. Joe
  11. I do believe we have a writer among us!
  12. If you drive it will cost you a lot more money to fix WHEN it lets go. Joe
  13. I'm bar far an expert, but that looks d*mn good to me! Joe
  14. Aw crap. Afshin, I completely missed your post! I guess your back from overseas. Are you still in NJ or have you already headed south. The open invitation still stands guys! We can use my place anytime. Joe
  15. I'm kinda embarrassed that this thread has gotten so much attention. I'll be sure to PM next time!
  16. That car looks great! Did you buy all new bolts or have them replated? The detail on the diff is amazing. Joe
  17. If I had to do it over I'd use a flat top that came up even with the deck and had a D shaped relief cut in it to bring the CR back down to 8.5-1. Joe
  18. Sounds like your going to use the car for exactly what I use mine for. I'm happy with the way my engine turned out. When I'm lazy and don't downshift, the engine still has enough grunt to get out of it's own way. And when I dump the gas pedal and the revs climb, I get that nice "put back in the seat" feeling at about 3k. For me, it's the best of both worlds. Joe
  19. Pete, What are you going to be using the car for? I chose to up my CR and use a lower boost number for better off boost throttle response. My reasoning for doing this was I use the car on the street and figured most of the time the car would be off boost. I really didn't like the amount of power a stock 280zx was making while off boost and found myself constantly planting my foot to get the car to move. It did get quite annoying. I thought a NA 280Z made ok power and seeing that it only had a CR of somthing like 8.3-1 decided to use that as a base for my 3 liter. On my car which has a cr of 8.5-1 I can run as high as 16lbs of boost without detonating. To be fair, I do have a large intercooler, programmable FI, a larger than stock turbo and injectors and I run on the rich side when boosting that high. My config won't make the most HP but I think it gave me what I wanted. A fast car that isn't a dog out of boost. Joe
  20. I'd still take the linkage off so it's out of the equation. Since it didn't do this with the old carbs, it has to be related to them. Either the throttle plates are open or their is a vacuum leak somewhere with the carbs very rich. Joe
  21. Hi Evan, My manifold and injectors are exactly how you describe. The injector body sits right up against the manifold and I don't have the stumble you describe. But then again I'm not using Venom injectors. Joe
  22. Although there are better EFI systems now, the TEC II is doing ok so far. I can get 15-16 pounds of boost on 93 octane albeit running pig rich! Joe
  23. Yeah Dr., at 42 I can relate. Phantom and Joel, ......got your back! Joe
