  1. Pallnet, A few questions. From the pictures it doesn't look like the belhousing has been cut down and if this is correct, are you using some type of spacer behind the flywheel? Again if this is correct, how is the starter going to engage the flywheel if it bolts to the adapter and the flywheel is on a spacer? I hope I'm missing something because this looks to be the way I want to go. Thanks. Joe
  2. Put me on the list for one! Joe
  3. What I see in those pictures is a possible source for the illusive long input shaft. Z-monster, can you measure the diameter of the axles that have been cut? If they are the same as the z31 turbo axle which are still available, the inner CV can be swapped onto the z31 shaft for a VLSD axle assembly. All of the VLSD R200's from Q45's and M30's could now be used!
  4. Hi Len. I used the spacers on the red car and have no bad experiences. To really throw you a curve ball, this winter I'm gonna move the pivot up on the yellow car. I have a spare crossmember that I'm gonna use. Stop by and we'll see if we can fab a template. Joe
  5. Mike, I don't know if you already answered me about this but do the Z32 and Z33 bell housings have the same bolt pattern? And if so, Ken, when are you stopping by to pick mine up to bring back to Florida with you??? Joe
  6. Hey Len, DIdn't you hear? Island is only 1100 feet long! LOL Great times man. Next time take the front plate off instead of bending it up and you have your 11.99! Joe
  7. Pete, black and shiny from oil or fuel coved carbon? I has a problem wih my TEC which turned out to be a faulty ground and not a problem wit the TEC at all. My symptom was the injectors ignoring TOG and going full open when the key was turned. I found this by pulling the fuel rail with the injectors connected and bumping the starter. To my surprize, enough fuel for a Top Fuel motor was being sprayed out of the injectors. What I found was one of the signal grounds not mking contact. Once I fixed the ground she again purred like a kitten. Joe

    VLSD info

Evildky, Since you are using the 78 output shafts, is the VLSD even working? I wouldn't think it would work as an LSD if you aren't using the really long VLSD only shaft. Joe
  9. Wow Pete, what a bummer. I don't know how I missed this thread. Glad no one got hurt and you seem to have a great outlook about the whole situation. About the crumpled gas tank and track days, what are you worried about? I guess you forgot what Baldwin uses to hold up his tank. If that passes your slightly dented tank should be a shoe in to pass tech! Joe

  11. Mike, They were forged pistons. I believe we had 8 people in on the group. My memory isn't as good as it once was but I think the price was around $400 for pistons, rings and pins. Joe
  12. They were from Ross. 1mm down in the hole, flat top. with 1mm gasket 10-1 comp ratio with a E31 and 8.5-1 with a P90. If you want more info I'd have to go in the garage and get the spec sheet. Joe
  13. Do we want to get another group buy for the flat top pistons we had a few years ago for a 3 liter? I'd make another couple of motors with them! Joe
  14. Anyone know where to find them in standard bore size for an L28? They seem to be NLA. I just can't seem to bring myself to go custom for a car that will be bone stock. Thanks. Joe
  15. Good luck and be safe. I hope all goes well for you. This looks like it's going to be a very bad one, especially for New Orleans. Joe
  16. Since no one has really tried a Z32 or 350Z trans behind a turbo L6 all of the negativity is speculation. Since I have a 6speed in the shed and I think I'm pushing some good power (3 liter, 8.5-1, t3t04e 57 trim, 50 lb injectors and 18lbs of boost), I'd be willing to try it. Mike, is there anyway I could get in on the adapter build? Joe

    Q45 Vlsd!

Only the outer CV's are used. The inner ones have the input shaft attached to it so it can't be used. Joe
  18. Mine doesn't have a louvered hood. The convention was held in Syracuse thins year. Next year it's in Texas and in 2007 it'll be in Florida. Joe
  19. Is the Z32 bell the same as a 350Z bell? I have a 6speed that is begging to be abused behind the turbo L6. Joe
  20. There was one at the convention. But that one was sporting a 383 Joe
  21. I remember the LS1 car bolted to the packs. I think he was 317hp and 361? ft/lb of torque. I really wanted to get my car on there but was afraid because of some driveline noises I'd been hearing. Wound up swapping out the diff in the hotel parking lot so I could run at the Glen. Joe

    Q45 Vlsd!

Okay, looks like I'll have to take some pictures. There is no question that the Q45 uses the larger ring gear bolts that all later R200's use. It has been discussed many times that an early small bolt ring gear can be used on large bolt carrier. Some use bolt spacers and some do not. I chose to use them. Sorry for the late response but I was at the convention. Joe

    Q45 Vlsd!

Terry, I haven't gotten any of the adapters or axles yet so I don't know about the length. I've only done the swap in the rear so far. I have one set of Q45 CV axles, need to find another set and get some adapters from Ross. What I really want to do is find SS Z31 CV axles. Then I will only need Ross's adapters and I'm done! Does anyone know if the spline count is the same on a SS axle and a non SS turbo axle? Joe
