  1. Check this out: http://bourke-engine.com/ani.htm Couldn't their claims be achieved with the proper rod/stroke ratio, instead of their seemingly complicated bearing mechanism? -Oliver
  2. Check out this engine bay (I think he might have kept the clutch MC) I vote for the L6 idea. A custom simple intake manifold would do the job, and the headers "hide" under the intake manifold, creating a clean look. You'd have to be somewhat creative with the spark plugs and wires, though.
  3. is it just me or did that last one look alot like flight sim?
  4. I think i would rather go with a trusted brand like GC than someone who just pops on ebay with a "ricer" looking ad. They advertise the advantage to coilovers as being "You can also customize the hight as needed for wheel sizes as well as weather conditions". They make no mention of corner balancing, which is the REAL advantage to coilovers with threaded sleeves and adjustable perches. Basically, you can see what they were thinking about when they designed the product.
  5. congrats!! I didn't know you had THAT much into your car. I'm sure it will be worth it though! -Oliver
  6. I would think its the differential since the pitch of the whine is not changing everytime he shifts gears. same with this guy: http://www.supercarchallenge.nl/video/Assen-bmwSTW.wmv Damn that guy shifts fast!!! Very well coordinated on the downshifts.

    found this

I really like what he did to fill the bumper shock holes in the rear. I'm going to look around for some plugs like that.
  8. make sure your head isn't WAY out of spec. If it is, when you go to torque your head down with the new flat surface, the cam shaft will bind, because the rest of the head was warped. If not you have to have the top of the head milled too.
  9. i've spent hours on this site... Excellent!
  10. sorry, I stand corrected... *bows down to master of tuning*
  11. from what i've read, its the 83 the dizzy that has the built in CAS, not the 82,81.
  12. yes, stony is correct, Unless you put in the pistons from the N/A motor (asusming they interchange). As for fitment, it should be much easier to fit the engine in without the turbo(s) then with it/them.
  13. Brandonsz, although your explenation sounds correct in theory, in my isolated experience, I had a very squishy pedal, that would stop the car rather normally to an extent, but after that "extent" was over, the car would not want to stop any faster. I found the problem to be a rust hole near the vacuum inlet on the brake booster. When I replaced it, the pedal felt harder, but you still had to push the pedal about half way without anything happening, even with a proper and thorough bleed. I know this second problem is with the brake master cylinder which I am replacing soon. Just remember, it could be a combination of both your booster or your master cylinder. Also, in my experience, any car that you pump the brakes on (with a booster), while the engine is running, will increase the RPM's.
  14. yeah i watched the video. Theres a few more problems. The oil control ring does not want to go in smoothly. Once i fit both top and bottom rings on the oil control setup, it won't move freely anymore. I'll just file the other rings until they fit correctly, but what do I do about the oil control ring? I can't file it can I? -Oliver
  15. I'm in the process of rebuilding a 4G37 for my sister. I had alot of trouble removing the second ring from the pistons, they were practically welded in there!! Now i'm having trouble installing the new rings. Any suggestions on gettin them in to where they float around freely in the grooves? I was thinking maybe sanding down the edge of the ring, with something like 320 grit sand paper or something... any other suggestions? thanks, -Oliver
  16. he's not changing anything to rhd, the car is already rhd. I say go for it mike. How many fairlady's are over here to begin with, and with a turbo setup?!?!
  17. that was alot of fun to watch!! i'm in the process of rebuilding a 4G37 for my sis's eclipse... man that front cover is a b*tch!!! Seems that way for the 4G63 also. i wish i could put together engines in 9.5 minutes!!!
  18. that engine position has got to play some mean tricks on shifter position... That powdercoating on the intake mani. looks great, austin!
  19. well I suppose you should start by hooking up a fuel pressure gauge to it, and seeing if it does anything funny. Could be your FPR. Don't forget to check all connections for loose harnesses and such, that goes a long way. I know there are a few z32 people on here that can help more than i can.
  20. sweet! I bet oil changes are a breeze with that thing! -oliver
  21. if you can give me an 83 turbo one ill give you mine. ('77)
  22. only problem i see with that is that it would be rather difficult to get the transmission out from under the car with that thing in place. it says 20" of clearance, but then it also hangs down a little. who knows. Let us know how it goes, as this looks like a good thing to have in a garage. -Oliver
