I applied this process to mate the z31 strut lower half and s30 upper half. What i want to do now is install a more drag specific insert. Im currently using the koni insert AZC sells (very stiff) and i want to install something that will allow for better weight transfer. I also want to section the strut to lower the car but not bottom out the inserts becasue the coilovers are turned down too much. Any suggestions on a good adjustable drag insert? Scottie if you could chim in you told me about one before but my computer has crashed like 3 times since then and i lost all my emails. I'm actually pretty close to doing this now ;>

WTF!!!! So your gonna bring it here to? Well that shows me what kind of person you are. You did start the entire thing and did ask to be removed so go figure. At any rate i dont hold grudges but it looks you are the type that does. So you can keep your silly little pan I dont need it. It still looks good though. I still cant believe this is all over me bartering with you over the price of a turbo (or is it). And who did i take advantage of?????

nice looking pan james the pan will work only on the rb26. it will not work on the s13-s15 as it is a front sump and this design is a rear sump. the stock gtr pan is used when the 26 is put in the silvia. if you get a rb25 with a oil pan on it it should work. All the rb configurations in japan are front sump except the rb20 z31. Are all the pans spoken for?

I have come across a 76 280z non turbo auto. it has a rear fiberglass bumper, sidesteps,(bonded on) 4 slot mag wheels. the body is semi striaght... has a couple of dents in the roof and in the rear 1/4. It looks relatively rust free except the ususal areas under the battery and seats but no holes that i can see. It is in alot better shape then my car was when i bought it 5 years ago. At any rate i need some suspention parts for my z and was wondering what the interested in a good running NA l-28 motor would be and how much i could get for it. im just kinda wondering if i could get this car and part it out (keep the shell for a future project)and not loose any money.

Monster Stroker Motor SOLD AND PAID FOR
stony replied to RB26powered74zcar's topic in Non Tech Board
Putt your highest bid in to start and find out. I would guess at least 5K and that would be a steal. -
Unfortunatly Yes.... good thing its still in the shop...it was suppossed to be done and ready to race this weekend. For those of you that have done a full backhalve with full chromoly cage, know how much work this is. the only thing accomplished so far is the floor is cut. And only rough cut at that. at any rate that dosnt matter anymore. I seriously dought it will be ready for this season. (my season ends first weekend in september). This will give me time to do all the stuff i have wanted to do for a while but have always been in a rush (because of blown est time of completing dates). Like rewiring the car and finishing the engine bay and making it purty

jamie, will your setup allow me to keep my current rotor(z-31) and caliper (z-32)? or will i need to get new rotors and calipers??? i built my setup the way i did because it was free to me except the cost to get things welded. What i need is a hub that brings the entire rotor in about an inch. basically a s30 hub that will fit the z31 spindell and retain the 5 lug pattern. then i will just make spacers that move the calipers in the same amount. if this is going to be a one off build it will prabably be too expensive. and the wheel change is what i will do. As i said in another post If i can find someone that wants my setup i will sell it complete and start over with stock struts. my setup works great. i was amazed at the difference it made. I really need to build a setup for drag application.

an inch should do it. There should not be any clearance issues. i will check and get back with you. Worst case i will just have to run a 15 or 16 inch X 8 inch wheel with the proper offset to get me my clearance. Im thinking that would be the cheapest way too.

im using z31 hubs, z31 rotors, and z32 large calipers. If i remember right the z31 hubs push the wheels out a bit as it is. im using a 2 inch spacer now to get the 15x3 1/4 wheel to clear the caliper. this in combination with the offset the z31 hub and rotor give you i cant lower the car anymore as stated above. I dont think there is anyway around the spacer as the weld wheel just isnt made for late modle sports cars. What i was thinking was a 5 lug hub with the same measurements as the s30 hub and then i would just space the caliper in accordingly to get it all to line up. or is there an easier way? or am i wrong about the S30 hub bringing the wheel in an inch or more? If i got with a different strut i will have to change the entire front suspension as teh rack adn pinion was modded to work with the z31 stuff. and the engine support was modded to fit the AZC front control arms.

Ok I know this has been addressed before but I can’t find it. I have sectioned S30 Struts. The top half is s30, the bottom half is z31, with z32 calipers. The problem is the I need a spacer to clear the calipers and that in combination with the hub offset puts the wheels out allot farther then the stock s30 offset. And the weld 3.5 wheels stick out past the fender lip. I need to bring the wheels in under the fender so I can lower the car. Are there any options out there like swapping the hubs to retain the same lug pattern that will bring the wheels in and only require spacing the calipers in the same amount as the hubs? Or is going with another front strut setup my only option???

HAHAHA was looking thru some old posts and found this one..... The damn car is still sitting on jackstands with the rear of the car cut out waiting on subframe install. this is starting to piss me off.

I have a couple of buddies in japan.

cyrus 115 should be in the bag. I was running 127 MPH with 680cc injectors, SDS, FMIC and 15 PSI of booste. I think the 2JZ should be able to meet or beat the rb26 power rating with similar mods.

The car was purchased by me... i pulled the drivetrain and shipped everything to alaska will be in my r30 hopefully tearing up the track in august BTW here is the title of this thread :>

on this board maybe but im pretty sure its been done before with an L motor

Im gonna bypass the 10s and go for the nines now ;> should do it as long as i can get the suspension set up car will weigh 2500lbs or less and have 600+ rwhp. with a 2 speed glide putting it to the wheels all the way down
-
bought the entire car for 9K... took out what i needed sold everything else along with my current setup and i have zero out of pocket right now. :>
-
1st pull was 597 the second pull was 612rwps we shut it off well below it potential peak rpm becasue it was still in its breaking period. I forsee 700rwhp in my future :> we shut down at 7800 rpm!!!! motor is good for 9500RPM http://home.gci.net/~shaggie/ya/1st%20pull.MPG http://home.gci.net/~shaggie/ya/2nd%20pull.MPG

Thanks for the compliment... but i have to rasie the BS flag on that one. the stock turbos will not support 400RWHP. to get 430 rwhp you need upgrade injectors/intercoolers and turbos (2530s) set at 18 PSI. The intake and heads on the VG need extensive work to flow alot of power. When you say stock crank on a 1200HP VG that is a stock crank that has been worked over and balanced. and i guarentee that it is a hi dollar motor as the rb would be at that level. Anyways im partial to rb motors as chevy guys are to the SBC and there is nothing anyone can do to convince me different the the VG is a better, easier to mod motor then the RB. the only other turboi motor i would ever consider wrenching on is the 2JZ or the GN turbo V-6

Nope.... he knew he start to run. almost looks like if he had stepped back instead of running the direction he did he would have made it.
